    Battery Charging Safety Bag

I’m charging my Wolfpack for the first time today. I’m charging outside and after reading all I could about the process I’m considering a charging bag for safety. I’m assuming the bag that came with the battery is not a charging safety bag. So is anyone using one? If so please comment and thanks!

My understanding is that charging bags are mostly for charging lower capacity high risk batteries like LiPO's and Li-cobalt... For my RC LiPO's I charged *and* stored them in a fireproof box... but compared to them the wolfpacks are, far, far safer, especially considering they are potted. Electric bike batteries on the other hand have far more total energy when charged than most LiPO's so it's also pretty questionable how well the bags will contain that - if I were more concerned I'd go with a fireproof box... even the security ones at the local hardware store will provide a lot of benefit in preventing the fire from spreading...

I don't bother charging my ebike batteries in a box/bag but there is always some danger associated with li-ion's and in particular those with flammable electrolytes which most all the common ones (outside Li-iron) do. Most of the times I charge in my shop although there is a fire extinguisher nearby and roof sprinklers not that they'll do a thing until the battery burns itself out, just keep it from spreading. I sometimes charge at home but never unattended and there's also a fire extinguisher nearby.

If a battery had been damaged from being dropped or in a crash (cells dented, etc.) that might change things a lot... again the wolf with being potted is a lot less susceptible to mechanical damage to the cells

We all have to decide on the best risk management so what I do is just an example, not a recommendation (fine print ;-} )... The results of a electric bike battery fire even if contained are likely to be quite high from a catastrophic risk perspective and while far from non-existent the probability is low but finite... but then again there's catastrophic potential just walking across the street or riding a bike, etc....

    YMMV

Sorry for bumping into an old conversation. It's great to hear you're taking safety precautions while charging your Wolfpack battery. A charging safety bag provides extra protection and peace of mind.
While the bag with the battery may be designed for storage or transportation, it's always a good idea to use a specific charging safety bag to prevent any accidents or damage.
