    Shimano Hydraulic Brakes For Sondors?

    Just a quick question...

Does the set need to be taken apart to install it through
the solid line holders on the frame?

Or, is there a better way to hold the lines in place
without having to take them apart?

    Thank you!

Best to install as a set without taking it apart. Otherwise you will need to bleed them

If I am understanding your question correctly, it sounds like the "brake cable mounts" on a Sondors frame are closed. The attached pictures seem to confirm this.

If I were in your shoes, I would indeed disconnect the hydraulic brake hose and run it through these closed brake hose mounts. Like Rodney said, you will have to bleed the brakes in order to finish up this operation. If you buy a bleed kit, you need a Shimano bleed kit.

You will need to obtain a new barb and olive if they are not included in your bleed kit. Disconnect the hose at the end of the brake lever or at the hose end of the banjo fitting on the brake caliper. As far as adjusting your brakes, hydraulic brakes are the easiest to adjust.

Avoid getting Shimano hydraulic mineral oil on your brake pads by buying a bleed kit that provides a brake pad plug. That is your opportunity to learn how to remove and replace your brake pads. Don't squeeze the brake lever (certainly not all the way!) with the brake pads removed. Before installing the brake pad plug, you should use a tire lever to push the brake pistons all the way down.

When I bought my affordable, comprehensive bleed kit, it came from China and took a few weeks to get here.

The LBS can do your bleed and hose reattachment if you don't want to mess with it.
