Is there a chance that the spindle is reversed? It looks like one side is milled down smaller than the other one, so the tube should slide over the shiny side of the spindle, instead of the dull black side. Notice on the picture below that half of the spindle is shiny and half is dull black. The shiny half is a bit narrower.

Take a look at this picture... it should describe it all how the new cyclone brackets work.... instead of the curved bracket you use a 2nd straight brackeet which we ship with the 100mm kits... you only need the curved bracket for 68mm kits...

for 100mm On One Fatty bike. The frame is in the way so 100mm doesn't work because the threads don't reach the end. That's what other people are saying. Should I order 120mm ? Even if 100mm fits it is going to be ok to order 120mm?

If chainstay interference prevents usage of 100 then 120 would be advisable. Really depends on the frame.

After a fabulous 250 miles on my tandem TerraTrike I encountered a major problem and need advice on how to proceed. I was a block away from my house and heard a strange noise and upon checking it out I noticed a broken spoke on my e hub. I limped home at 2 mph and by the time I reached home a total of 10 spokes were broken. I purchased the heavy duty wheel package which is rated at 600 lbs (?). We are well below that and I am wondering if there maybe another solution. I am thinking after much research is to go with a moped rim and 10 gauge spokes. I have an ebikekit 48 v 500+ watt motor. It measures 9.5 inches across and has 36 spoke holes. Please tell me what I need. I have a bike shop who can build the wheel.
    Thanks,

Ok, what rim do I need that would be strong!! ....and not sure if 10 gauge would even fit. Just trying to get something that won't snap.

hub motors put a lot of stress on the spokes ...a lot more than a normal wheel obviously. So it is sometimes necessary to tighten your spokes after the first 20 miles or so of riding to make sure they are tight. Get the wheel rebuilt.... and then check the tigthness regulualrly for the first 100 or so miles.

3rd x-1 Ride... 6th gear bent... small incline with s 1’ rock step... I guess I hit full throttle in 6 the gear and it bent the sprocket like butter and broke the chain. Also, I was in 10 th gear and had to stop fast For a dog...I was in 3 of 3 power level... but I forgot to downshift and start in a lower gear and I pushed on the pedals To go again and the motor was in 3 of 3 power...the chain immediately failed. The throttle seems to control at full power at all times... not the Same as the the pedal assist. I wish they had a book when the bike was in boxed...

The Luna Cycle Watt meter has 2 options for 48V or 60V.

    I have a 48V battery pack that charges to 54V. Do I select the 48V or 60V version? https://lunacycle.com/batteries/gaug...le-watt-meter/

    Thank you.

PS do I get free Pizza if my questions isn't answered in 30 minutes?

I think those limits are literal. I would recommend the 60V just to be sure.

Found my question answered in another post. Wanted to get another shark pack and hook them up parallel. But as they won't have the same charge cycles, might not be a good idea. So instead I guess I swap them as battery levels are depleted.

Best way IMO. Cradle packs swap so easily. As long as you don't need insane level of power 1 at a time is fine.

Can it select 1,2,3,4 or 5 amp charge rate via knob...instead of just 3 or 5 amp?

3 position toggle switch to choose 80, 90, or 100% charge level? Or some other knob?

New BBSHD controller on an older BBSHd motor and new BBS02 motor:

What's happening is that the throttle works linearly by giving out little power when it's pressed in a little and more power when it's pressed in more, only when the pedals are not moving at all, regardless of PAS 0 or PAS 1 or any other PAS level.

The PAS level can be disregarded as it does not matter which PAS is in use.

If the pedals are moving at all the throttle no longer works linearly but functions only as an on/off switch that gets activated when the throttle is pressed in about 60% at which point full power is given by the motor.

This makes the ride jerky and dangerous and does not provide desired throttle assistance while pedaling and the ride is uncomfortable. Basically makes the throttle useless even in PAS 0.

This did not happen with the original BBSHD controller, however the new BBS02 unit is behaving the same way as the new BBSHD controller.

Tried different settings with programming (including a fresh new EL file from Luna and Karl's special sauce) and both units BBS02 and BBSHD are responding the same to throttle input.

Yes it's not linear.... as soon as you pedal in any PAS modes, the throttle becomes ON or OFF (0 to full power of the motor, not to the level you are at).

Well it's new for sure. not the first time I see it recently.

Riding in PAS 5 (or 9 depending on the setting) to get a linear throttle response would make the ride not as pleasant as you would be ghost pedalling.

Yes the customer said it's ON/Off in any PAS mode, full 1500W ON or OFF

Here is another video found on youtube (not the same person)

Is this issue resolved? Is it only an issue with older BBSHD motors and new controllers? I just placed an order for a complete BBSHD kit and this is a bit worrisome.

    Hi,

is it possible to get the BBSHD without a bike but with Luna Ludicrous 2500W?

There is just button for "offroad Version", but that doesn't mean 2500W, right?

    Thanks for help!

I bought it brand new and had the issues on day 2, and even now no major changes have been made.

My frame is 17" though and they gave me no heads up at all. not cool.

Charger has been plugged into proper protection strip, my entire house is properly fitted due to all the electronics i have. I don't know the issue, but I'm not going to make an assumption like you did. Boards die, pieces fail, etc.

All i know is the charger turns on and shows voltage but will not charge, and its been in the same spot since day one, i made a special area for the E-bike for this reason.

the size of bike is according to what you order. 17 inch is a medium.

In this case you need to open a trouble ticket. Are you sure the charger is not charging because the battery is fully charged? does the bike run?

On the Lunacycle Smoothie Comfort Cruiser, can one just use the throttle from a dead start without first pedaling? I am asking because my wife sometimes has a difficult time with the initial acceleration.

Yes it can, but the motor is not designed for that, and will generate additional heat until it gets up to speed, so it isn't recommended.

yes this should be no problem as long as she does not start in high gear.

I am planning to buy a middrive ebike from Luna. I like the Bafang BBSHD and I'd like to get throttle speed of 30mph. Can I get that from the 750w on one of your mountain bikes. Also neck issues require me to have high handle bar set up. Do most of your MB's have that feature?
    thank you,

None of Luna cycles mountain bikes have a higher handlebar setup, but that is in order to get the rider's weight balance more forward. I would recommend replacing the stem with an adjustable angle stem. It can bring the bars higher and further back in the same motion. 30 MPH would depend on a number of variables, wind, incline, weight, and tire pressure.

30mph is easy from any of our bikes. you can modify any of our bikes with a higher steering tube but you need to do modification yourself.

I have neck and other issues that require a more upright sitting position on a bike too. I personally don't think you'll get your arms up high enough via the stem. I personally had to buy new handlebars. The good news they were pretty cheap (less than $20 with shipping) and they were easy to install ( and I suck and install/repair etc).

Howdy, just registered. Luna ticket # 52520. The question that I have, is related to the 48V 9Ah battery I received a few days ago along with BBSo2 kit (order # 30595).
When I first looked at the battery, and pressed the button to view the charge, a yellow and red light showed. A day later no lights show! Only thing done to the battery was to remove it from the holder to check the fit of the holder to the bike frame. Checking the voltage using my meter, (at the 20v level) gives me a charge of 5.3v . Is this anything to be concerned about? Shouldn't the red light be on? Conversely, is that 53 volts (showing my naivety) and nearly fully charged?
Have been waiting for an answer using email to the Luna help desk with partial answers and long waits.
looking forward to hearing from you.

just connect it to a charger. what has happened in this case is the bms has shut the battery down. Once the bms recognizes the charger the battery should instantly spring up to the correct voltage. If it does not the charger and the bms will not allow the battery to charge.
