Yes, if you bring it down to 3000w or less. Remember, Amps X Volts = Total WattageLast edited by HIGHVOLTAGE; 08-07-2018, 11:14 AM.

I have a 72v Luna soft pack that came with a 72v Luna charger. I've tested both ports of the battery and I'm getting good voltage and I've tested the charger output and I'm also getting good voltage there. The battery is outputting fine and the bike is rideable, but the charger is not charging the battery. It tries to turn on about every minute and then cuts right back off. LED 1 stays red while LED 2 turns red when the charger tries to start up but then falls back to a lightly blinking yellowish color. I'm not sure what to try next. Thank for any suggestions

Are you using any adaptors between the battery? Check the continuity on them. Otherwise you might be looking at a new charger pretty much. Not much else to go by here.
-
I did the test of the charger through the adapter and assumed that would confirm continuity. The charger is also accurately showing the battery voltage, it just can't get itself going charging. What's the warranty on the charger? Also does it make a difference that I didn't receive the version with a switch for 80% and 90% charge levels like was originally advertised

Email support for a warranty check. Just provide your order # and explain what you've gone over in this post.

I having an issue with my battery. I have a Luna 52 V Wolf pack Battery which cannot currently be charged through the charge port. The voltage on the discharge port is 50 V. The voltage on the charge port is 53V. When the battery is connected to the BBSHD the head unit will not turn on. The battery will charge through the discharge port; however, this did not solve the issue.
From what I understand the next step would be to replace the BMS although I do not think on the Wolf pack this is accessible due to the resin. Has anyone had this problem before? Can the BMS be further troubleshooted on the Wolf pack or will I need to send it in?
- Reply: Lot of extra details we will need to say one way or another. Need to know if you are measuring with a multimeter, and if you can load test both the pack and charger. As well as any circumstances leading up to the issue. We can go over how to do all this, but would be best to email us as it's a decent amount of back and forth
- Reply: I am measuring with a multimeter
The BBSHD runs when connected to the charger
The battery charger runs properly when connected to the discharge port of the charger
The battery will not charge when connected to the charge port
The BBSHD will not turn on when the battery is connected.
With respect to circumstances leading to the issue, the bike was ridden until the voltage dropped to approximately 50 V. The battery was disconnected and stored at this charge level for a week. The night prior to the next planned day of use, I went to charge the battery. The battery charger did not turn on when connecting the battery to the charger.
As far as the load test:
The battery will not light a light bulb when using the discharge port. I have not tried from the charge port.
The charger does light the bulb.

Mid drive unit is approx 4 months old. Last ride we did motor would shut down and worked intermittently after about an 1 1/2hr ride. Voltage was around 53v. Had to unplug and replug in unit numerous times to get it to reset and worked intermittently to get home. After multiple times getting it to work for a short time it would not come back on. Now only works after unplugging and replugging back in. Have 2 home built 31ah batteries and a 13.5ah shark pack all the same story.

Quick update on my issue. After turning off unit I noticed that my rear speed sensor light was still on and so I hit the thumb throttle to bleed off the voltage and light went off. Push button to start up and it works without unplugging drive. No error codes on display. Talked to my buddy who just got back in town (his bike) and he said he has allways had to hit the thumb throttle after turning off to be able to restart. Would of been nice if he told me that 2 days ago. I though off was 100% off? Going for a ride this afternoon hopefully all is good.

Have a https://lunacycle.com/60-amp-36-72v-...le-controller/ and the manual/wiring doesn't match the Kelly very closely.
Is there a Manual or wiring for the CYCLONE-BTCNTRL-60A-BLK on your site or somewhere else on the web?

Hi, I've been running a Luna 52V/13.5Ah shark and I have a question. While attempting to insert the key into the battery post ride, there was a large arc from the keyhole. I've included a picture of the key. Can you tell me if the arc was detrimental to the battery? Also, any idea what would have caused such an action? I did a quick search and another post was guessing static electricity. I guess it's possible, but it was one heck of an arc. I was thinking how much fun we're going to have together this fall and winter, but maybe the battery and are going to have to brawl first. I look forward to receiving your thoughts. Thank you!1 Photo

paxtana, You are correct. I inspected last night and "destroyed" is a good descriptor. I ordered a few xt60 pigtails and I'll rewire. I was fairly sure I'd find a bunch of burned components, but it appears to have been contained in the charge port. In the realm of costly mistakes, this one isn't too bad. Thank you for your response.

Be sure to use female xt60 instead of male xt60 for the portion on the battery itself. The pic above is not the most ideal since it's a male, i.e. it has the prongs sticking out of it. In theory you could stick a key in this too and short it. But with a female on this side that's impossible.
It is why in most usage of xt60 the female is the side giving the power. I realize that's not the best descriptor since the charger is also giving power in a sense, but you probably get what I mean.
Yes it is likely the battery is fine. Though we won't know that for a fact until it's all wired up and you can take it for a ride. In theory the bms could have been damaged, though probably it's alright.

I rewired the battery this evening and understand what you wrote about using the female plug on the battery. Everything works as expected, but I am going to take it apart and do it one more time. My first attempt left the inside of the battery compartment too crowded. I ordered smaller (14g vs 12g) XT60 pigtails and will redo my work Sunday. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I would like it to fit together nice and easy. Thank you again for your advice!

This is the second time in 4 rcharges/rides that my motor and display just shut off. Same conditions: at about 11 miles of riding, approx. 50.1 on the power level is left, rolling hills, 6th gear, air temp maybe 80F. When checked immediately after this shutdown, the battery is barely warm, not even close to hot. Typically I ride another 1.5 miles and finish my 12.5 mile commute to work. BBSHD by the way.
The battery is a Shark that Luna gave me as a free backup when my original battery had a terminal meltdown because the fins on the bike mount were to far apart that the faulty contact built up excess heat that melted the plastic. This Shark battery has probably 100 charges on it so far and normally has 48-50 V when I get to work.
Once I take the battery off and charge it again, I have no issues going home12.5 miles. It works perfectly. Question: should I send this battery back for your analysis, or could it be something else like a faulty heat-override switch in the motor itself? I had my Luna Police Bike serviced last week at the Bike Cellar in Tempe. Tom, their excellent eBike mechanic, opened up my motor and checked it, lubed it, and retorqued all the fittings that were loose. When I asked him for a guess he said that usually electric parts go bad and stay bad, not intermittent like this.

Check the battery connections underneath. You mentioned it melted the contacts last time. Have you been maintaining them regularly and making sure they're making contact?

My order is being held up by FedEx due to "improper documentation". Order number is 59423. When I called FedEx, they said you (Luna) need to call them. Please call ASAP. Thanks, Rick

Did you email support@lunacycle.com? They'll be able to help you out. This thread isn't dealing with order related problems unless there's a technical problem

I have been carefully checking the slip-in gaps on the battery mount and everything is fine. No melting, no heating from loose connections. Hmmmm.....so you feel it's a connection issue and not electronic or electric?
What about the 750c Color Display controller? Possible?Last edited by Madjag; 08-09-2018, 01:28 PM.सर्वमायाविभंजन

Aside from checking, did you try adjusting them anyways just to make sure?
-
You could always try bypassing the display and running headless and see if the problem persists. If the 750c fogs up then it could be the issue, a few of the earliest displays did that and it was heat related to some extent.
Just make a jumper out of a bit of spare wire like shown here https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...bbshd-or-bbs02
