Anyone know when this https://lunacycle.com/72v-panasonic-pf-11-6ah/ will be back in stock? or does anyone know any comparable affordable 72v batteries?

Hello, will the Mac Motor Kit with the BAC 800 accept a torque sensor? Looking at the documentation it looks like it will, but are there any known issues?
    Thank you.

I doubt it has been programmed for that.

Hello I'm trying to find a good, economical bike host for a Luna Cycle 1000W Mid Drive Motor build for backcountry use. I''m wondering if this would be suitable:

paxtana, what do you think of this model bike as an eBike host? There's one for sale on Craigslist in my area that I can prob get for $475-$500: http://www.konaworld.com/fire_mountain.cfm

Should be fine. Chainstay looks a little wide though so you may need the 73mm-100mm kit.

Hi. The Luna folder looks interesting, but, seeings how it has 20" wheels, one might thnk that it'd benefit by having some suspension, like via a different front fork. But this URL https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...-fitment-guide seems to be saying that there is no Luna option for that?

Is it known if anyone within Luna has ever done a custom job of taking a premade non ebike folder & successfully added a Luna mid drive package to it?

Or, has any private ( non Luna employee) rider done the same & ended up with very satisfactory results?

BTW The Enzo folder did not use to have any front fork with suspension option, but these days, it is understood that that is offered.

    Thanks

Maybe check out the montague paratrooper, it's an awesome folder that can be converted with a bbsxx easily.

I got the 500 display today but it didn’t come with instructions. Can you send me a link or something? I need the 4 digit password, the power level reads full but the battery is half charged at most, I want to know how to reset the trip and I want to add my tires size to the mph if possible I know it’s reading slow. Thx

I got by Ultra kit in yesterday. I know that you recommend that we bench build the kit to test it once we've received it to ensure everything is in working order, however I don't yet have a battery.

I do have a variable 60V, 1500W PSU at work I could try using. I don't think it would be an issue but I just want to ask if setting my PSU to 52V and trying out my motor using the throttle would be an issue.

I guess I'd have to put together some sort of connector.

If you have an adjustable PSU that can do 52v, this shouldn't be an issue. :)

BMS tripped, got a jump start and was able to use the battery on the bike another few miles, when plugged into advanced charger from Luna and/or the $24 Chinese Amazon charger only getting green light no red charging indication. When the charger is plugged in and the battery indicating light is fully green .Unplugged the one red LED indicated discharged battery. Could it still be the BMS, what is my solution here? Thanks in advance.

Measure the voltage coming off your battery to see if it's a BMS trip again. If it's below 40v, it might be a BMS issue but you also might have a connection issue between the charger & the battery.

After that if you're using an adaptor between the charger and the battery, try to check the continuity of the adaptor if you're using any and see if there's full connection on both sides. We also have an instructional video below that shows how this is done:

One of the best things about this method is you can check the circuit without needing to pull the wiring apart for a visual inspection.Courtesy of Luna suppo...

On my 500c I watched the video. I typed the code in and it just goes back to the main screen it does not go to advanced settings. I disconnected the power for a couple minutes and tried again and still does not work. Also in menu under battery what does UBE stand for? Are these usually sent out with no instructions??

Try 1919 or 1199? If not, we'll have to get back to the shop with you on that.

Also, most of the displays from Bafang usually share the same instructions across all their displays so there isn't much need for it. They all have relativity the same basic features. You can ignore the UBE and just change it to read voltage.

Also when do you expect to get back to me on the instructions and why the battery Inictator is not reading true?because if that doesn’t work I like to return

I rode my bbs02 for about 5 minutes before it stopped working. I was going up a hill when it stopped.
Now if I use the throttle the wheel will spin slightly (a few degress rotation) before stopping. The pedals turn fine by themselves and the bike can be ridden, but if you push it backwards there is definite resistance (this occurs when the battery is turned off).
I called luna-mate and he said the controller was probably fried. Just wondering if that's definitely the case if there's resistance when I push the bike backwards?

Resistance pushing backwards has nothing to do with your issue, all the BBSxx motors do that, it's just how they work.

Were you lugging the motor when going uphill?

What do you mean by lugging it? I wasn't pedaling much.

Lugging the motor is going uphill in the wrong gear, i.e. not downshifting. By using a gear that is optimized for speed instead of torque it puts more strain on the motor, which wants to spin fast. Because the motor cannot spin fast, the power you are sending it cannot be converted into usable work, so it instead gets converted into heat.

If enough heat builds up, the insulating varnish on the copper windings in the motor burns up. With no insulation on each copper coil the core is rendered effectively unusable. This is referred to as burning out the motor.

Ok thanks for the explanation. I had it in a mid gear. I rode for about 10 minutes on the flat, then about 30 seconds to a minute up hill. Would that be enough time at high temperature to cause damage?

Generally speaking I would say no. But it will depend how much you weigh, how big the hill is, wheel diameter and wheelsize i.e. was it a fatbike, etc.

I was speaking with some guy while back that burnt out his bbs02 on the flats in that amount of time. After more investigation turned out he was using it to tow a giant platform weighing tons that he planned to take to burning man. In my experience details matter, a lot.

What would be the probable reason for this scenario: Riding throttle only and as soon as I rotate the pedal cranks, the power dies? If I continue to hold down the throttle sometimes the power will come back with a surge, but not always. Is this the cadence sensor or controller or something else? Thx.

Steve what you are describing is common for bafang mid drives. Throttle used to have priority all the time but now it does not.

While getting bafang to change it is not exactly easy, we have been working on a possible solution. In the meantime you may want to consider programming the controller to disable pas, as this then disables any interference from pas on throttle usage. We have a thread on how to do that if you need it

Do you guys put silicon where the wires come out of the BBSHD when you mount it on the Banana bike? I see some room for water to get in around the power wires on the one I'm assembling now...

Not as far as I know. You can always do this yourself though.

    Hi!

I was wonder about this piece: https://lunacycle.com/60-tooth-sur-ron-sprocket/

The 60- Tooth Sur-Ron Sprocket. Does it have an effect on the range of the battery ? Sort of affects the time of duration? Its range?

Will be very helpful the answer.

    Thank you!

It depends on your terrain your riding in. This does have an small effect on your total range of the bike but not by very much.

DC motors like to spin fast. This allows that. Probably will increase the range a bit. It will limit top speed a bit though.

    Hello,

Not sure if this is really technical, but I'm asking here:
Looking at the sur-ron-mx-electric bike, does the lock works as a normal motorcycle do? Can the wheels move around when locked? Or just disable the throttle.

If wheels will be locked when locked, Does it work when the battery is dead?

    Thanks

There is a lock on the battery compartment and a lock on the ignition. Neither locks the wheels.
Working...
