I did a quick search here. http://www.bing.com/images/search?vi...verlay&first=1 The only photo I found with white wires was this one.

There are 2 wires but they give them the same designation.

      I don't know.

Hi. Does the new dCP 18 actually calculate remaining range?? The Dcp 14 has a 'range' selection in the menu, but it is not functional. Is a firmware update for the dcp 14 anticipated to allow the range feature to work??

What I have done in the past to answer this question is to buy a new equivalent charger (presumed to function properly), and try it. If you get the same problem, you have isolated the problem to your battery or BMS (and you now have a spare charger). If the new charger solves your problem, you are good to go (with a faulty charger than you can use for spare parts).

                  It's a ten speed.

Thanks much! I haven't cycled for years and am trying to get back into the sport. An ebike will allow me to do that. I just need to get a hold of an "ebke technical dictionary".

I want to install a gear sensor but I have the type of shift cable that is a bare cable running under the bottom bracket. So, there is no cable housing to splice and put the sensor between. Of course it has a little curly queue of housing right at the end of the chain stay to bring the cable in position for the derailleur but it seem the gear sensor wants a straight run of housing. What is the best way to get this done? Do I insert it up high around the shift lever? Or run cable housing all the way ( my bike has internal routing BTW )? What would you suggest?
                Thanks,
                Julie

At a minimum you want to put housing on that exposed section if you want to put the gear sensor there. You don't necessarily have to make the entire thing use external routing. Just from where it is exiting the frame to where it meets the derailer. The housing should not be put on in such a way that it will move around when shifting or pedaling.

Hello, I just started installing my new 02 motor last night and am wondering what you recommend for my sprocket rubbing problem. I was thinking to put a 42 tooth sprocket on instead of the 48 that came with it. Or, would you just put a spacer in on the right side to make it stand off the frame a bit?

Either might work but the chainring spacers is the more likely solution. Hard to know exactly how much extra clearance you would get with 42t

ready to buy a bafang bbshd conversion. couple questions. i'm very familiar with bike mechanics but this will be my first ebike.

if i wanted to mount the battery to a rear rack, do you have recommended models that can support the weight? my bike has dedicated mounts. i am looking at the carbon shark 52v 13.5ah battery. (also, what's the difference between a PF and GA battery?)

also, i am in need of a chainring offset recommendation. the donor bike is a hardtail mountain bike which is currently geared. will the luna or lekkie rings work?

Most racks will work as the battery only weighs ten pounds. PF is a bit lower capacity but stays a bit cooler at high discharge rates. If you can afford it go with GA.
Best chainring depends on the frame. If in doubt you can start with stock, or get eclipse with most offset as well as chainring spacers to back it off if need be.

                Hi,

My rear e-hub is making a grinding noise and NOT spinning. I took it apart, and there is nothing loose or missing. the "gears" are all in tack and in excellent condition. Everything on the bike lites up. I tested the battery with a meter and it's fine (38v showing 42v). When I throttle it just makes this grinding noise then stops. I actually can see it NOT moving. (I took it apart on the cassette side and powered it up back on the bike).
I think it maybe the controller? But it lights up fine. Any help would be awesome guys.
                Thanks Rambler
Note: This is another bike I'm making, NOT my "baby" ;)!

Frustrating, right? Check that none of the motor (phase) wires are making electrical contact with on another. Did the motor ever work wired up like it is? You could try different combinations of motor wire connections (for example, yellow to blue & blue to yellow, etc.), trying different combinations of the Hall sensor wires (no need to include the black and red wires). You cannot hurt anything by doing this! One combination will power the motor in reverse, and one combination will allow the motor to run poorly; most combinations result in no movement. There are not that many possible permutations, but it is recommended to keep notes of what you tried.

Can you spin the wheel by hand with no electrical power?

There are Hall sensor testers available, used to determine if your Hall sensor is okay.

A remove and replace with a known functioning controller (or motor, for that matter) would be an easy test.

How much do you have invested in this motor? Is it used?

                Hi ,

looking to order your BBS02 Mid Drive package. Have a Trex Touring Bike. Do I need the gear sensor and do I need a new front chain ring or can I use the existing setup?

                Thanks,

                Lars

With a mid drive it replaces your existing front chainring with the one that comes with the kit. As far as the gear sensor it's a nice option but not strictly necessary.

THIS and about another zillion reasons is WHY I send everyone that stops me and ask about my eBike to ONLY Luna!

Yeah the wires we're grounding some how. Took it apart, ACCIDENTALLY put them in the original order and the wheel went ZOOM! then stopped. But that was ALL I needed to see. Separated all wiring and reconnected 1 by 1 and ZOOM ZOOM.
I literally spent 3 hours researching everywhere on the internet before asking for help here. Was ready to give it up and read your post paxtana and decided to try it. 30 mins later I was in business.

Tell Jack I'll be there next week to start my next project!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
