Nope, do not do this at all. Even if you think you can, it's just not safe to mess around with it unless you know what you're doing. I don't think anybody here wants to be held liable if you were to burn your house down due to improper charging techniques. Especially if a life was lost.

No. Putting it at 80% does not change the output voltage from the charger, it only changes what state of charge it stops at.

Guys - would you mind taking a look at my post here. I'm at wits end troubleshooting one of your BBSHD units I bought via Luna-mate in Aus about 18 months ago. Have tried some common tests but nothing coming up. No reason to think the controller's gone so want to discount other components.

      >Gave the bike a clean light wash.

What exactly do you mean by this? Did you spray it with a hose or did you hand wash it with a cloth? Hopefully the latter...If not, it's probably your display that's toast but you'll have to starting swapping parts to see. I'd start with a display and then a controller if that doesn't work.

Also for future reference, I'd read this guide:

    Hi
Is it possible to get a BBSDH on a carbon frame bike ?

They're not usually that great as you'll have trouble getting the motor to bite into the frame, and you may risk cracking the frame from the torque.

At a minimum that chainstay looks like it would be problematic. I would not convert this frame.
      Here are general considerations https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...mid-drive-kits

I've read so many conflicting reports. Can someone confirm that if I purchased a Blue Sur Ron (X model) will it have regen built in? Is there a new model on the way hence the discount?

They have Regen Coasting but not Regen Braking. No new models coming out as far as I know.

Looks like you removed the silicone already pretty well. I use a wide flathead screwdriver and pull carefully and lightly on the cables. Some may recommend against pulling the cables but I have fat fingers and can't ever grip it well enough

What do I do with the flat head though? Where do I place it exactly?

Hi Singulis - have a look at this helpful Luna video, at about the 3:00 point:
2nd build, 2018 Crust Scapegoat, BBS02 or BBSHD, Rohloff IGH
        3rd build, 2018 Crust Evasion step-thru, BBS02, Shimano Nexus INTER-3 IGH
4th build, 2016 Salsa Marrakesh flatbar frameset, BBSHD, Alfine 8 IGH

Came across this error when throttling at max for several seconds.

Then afterwards the mortar will slowly turn.

Speed Sensor error. Your speed sensor isn't hooked up or reading the magnet properly.

Thanks ncrkd and highvoltage for your help :) (don’t know how to reply on posts yet)

Hi, I am an new member and have a BBSHD installation question.
I am installing a Bafang BBSHD kit that I purchased from Luna Cycle. My kit has the Hot Rod Program (For Off Road Use Only), Luna C961 Standard Display, and Universal Thumb Throttle.
I will NOT be using the wired brakes included with the kit, and I plan to set it to PAS 0 to lock out the pedal assist so that I can control the assist using the throttle only.
My question is: Can I eliminate the speed sensor with my setup? I'd prefer to minimize wires on the bike.
          Thanks all.

If you want no PAS it would probably be best to load this profile into the controller https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...2675#post82675

There's a way to eliminate the display, but the speed sensor, not so much. Maybe if you fed it false information? But that would just be wiring up the speedo to something that gives it false info, not really eliminating the wiring. I know of know programming you can do to remove the need for speedo entirely

Thanks for the reply paxtana. I will go ahead and install the speed sensor. About disabling PAS, now I am confused. I read the thread you linked before I bought my kit. I am not proficient with computers and was concerned that I would be unable to load the profile you mention into the controller and/or do something to mess up my kit, so I chatted with Tony who said that there is no problem using the throttle only: "just put it on [PAS] 0 and you can just use the throttle to drive the bike ... that's what pas 0 does it locks it out." What I want is to be able to control the amount of assist using solely the throttle, like on a motorcycle. Can I achieve that with PAS 0, as Tony said, or do I have to load the profile into the controller?

I don't think this is possible unfortunately. The throttles are purely on/off only from what I know.

I would disagree with my colleague on this point. While throttle response is not exactly linear, with a good controller profile it should be noticeably different depending on how much throttle you are giving it.

The difference with the profile I mentioned is that it would allow you to control the power levels on the throttle by using the PAS levels. Which would allow even more fine grained control over the amount of throttle assist. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly for some of our members, this profile works around a longstanding bug in the firmware that causes the bike to cut out if you start pedaling while you are giving it throttle.

          Howdy y’all,

Came across a new issue where I don’t know how to charge my wolf battery. It has 2 xt-90’s and I know one of them is for the battery to motor connection, but the other three I’m confused about.

Are the bottom two female xt-60 connections? My Luna charger came with a 60 connection so I guess one of them is for that.

If if y’all could tell me what the connections are for that would be great :)

There's 2x of each connector in-case one of them fails. XT90 for discharge and XT60 for charging.

How do I fix this? (First two pictures)

Second. My display claimed my battery was fully charged but after throttling a little bit it shows zero bars. Also, is lightly pressing down on the throttle unhealthy for the battery? Cause if I hold it down it lasts for a few seconds but when I lightly press down on it and let go, the motor dies.

          Thanks

I had a question about the speed control on the luna bikes. I have seen some kits where in the controls you can set a speed limit which would be good for me because I want to use the more powerful motor to go faster than what is street legal in my state off road out in the fields but then also be able to drive it legally, well mostly legally the motor will still be not street legal but as long as I dont go over the speed limit no one will notice.

Most displays have a setting to do this. You can change it in the display and it will limit speed, also there is a setting in the controller programming where you can either set by the display or set by the setting in the controller which would supersede any setting on the display.

So if you wanted to prevent someone from increasing the top speed via a simple adjustment on the display like if you were lending it to your kids then you would want to program it in the controller.

Otherwise the display should be fine unless there are some regulations preventing you from being able to increase top speed at the push of a button.
