My Luna Advanced charger, maybe 3 years old, is running VERY slowly. The fan goes on and the voltage indicator flashes up to an expected voltage given the charge level of the battery about every minute or two, and then it drops down to the 12v range (constantly changing the decimal). This one or two minute interval is very much slower than it used to charge. The same phenomena on three different Dolphin 52V packs. When I tested the voltage at the xt60 it was at the right level. I did a continuity test from the xt60 male to the barrel plug. Those were fine.

Sounds like it is broken and probably needs replaced.

Does anyone know of a good motor for electric trikes? The Radburro we received has this cheap POS installed https://www.ebay.com/itm/Split-Diffe...-/163060568630

Here's a picture of the motor on the trike, it's not even a 750W... sigh!

The BBSHD kit is currently one of the most popular motor kits right now. Highly recommended.

Lowest price anywhere on the BBSHD. The new bafang 1000 BBHD will put out a maximum of 1600 watts and is the most powerful ebike kit ever and its a mid drive!

      Thanks!
So should I just replace the original motor with the BBSHD kit? Will that work for the trike? What about the differential?

I'm not familiar with the Radburro unfortunately. I would contact Rad E-bikes to see if it's possible to fit this motor in their bottom bracket. Usually for pre-built Electric Bikes like that, it's harder to do upgrades for the motor and usually easier to just start over with a basic trike frame.

Hello, I am a newbie I just ordered myself a kit form China I have 6 questions:
1.I got chinese 1500W ebike kit with 35Amp controller, if I get your luna wolf v2 52v 13ah battery pack, what will be the range on full throttle without pedal assist?
2.How come the luna wolf v2 battery is designed to be waterproof, but in the images it seems like the ports are exposed?
3.I was at a bike shop and the man told me freewheel is an outdated technology and everyone uses cassete nowadays, so how come your ebike motor still has freewheel?
    4. It rains alot in my country, what has been your experiences with this sort of triangle batteries(see image) from China which claim to be IP65 rated?
    5. How come you do not sell an offer for above 60km/h and above 30km(full throttle without pedal assist) range kit which is waterproof for rain/mud etc and is for normal 29inch mtb, not a fatbike?
    6. How come most if not all of your prebuilt bikes seem to be mid drive, is it better? I mean i read the post on differences but can you elaborate?

      1. range will be dependent upon how you are riding the bike, what conditions, how hilly the roads, what speed you are riding at etc. An educated guess would be around 20 miles.

      2. the ports are exposed because batteries need something to plug into, in order to get the electricity out. The batteries do come with caps that can be put on xt60 and xt90, and future shipments starting from couple weeks from now are likely to include a tube of dielectric grease for further protection of charge and discharge.

      3. i do not know what motor you are referring to as you said you bought the kit from somewhere other than Luna. if you are asking about ebike companies in general, they use freewheels because if the ratcheting mechanism fails with this design you just replace the freewheel, since it is built into it. With cassettes that ratcheting mechansim is built into the hubmotor, which makes it a lot harder to service.

      4. that triangle is okay, and probably comparable to hardcase packs. but it is not on the same level as something potted. there are always going to be places for water ingress on something that is not potted.

      5. you can get near those speeds with bbshd with a fully charged 52v pack and can mount it on most mtbs. same with cyclone. we sell both of these kits.

      6. yes mid drive is far better. it gives you more torque, more hill climbing ability due to being able to downshift, and there is a lot of mods you can do to them as well as good supply of aftermarket parts. a lot of people find a high powered mid drive to be the most fun.

I’m interested in buying your Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit. My bottom bracket is less than 73 mm but to order the only options are fat and extra fat. I have to choose on of the 2 options to order but need standard size. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I believe they're out of stock right now. These are a popular seller so they should be re-stocked very soon.

I have a BBSHD with DPC-18 and a Luna Wolf 52v that have less than 75 miles on them. The unit ran great the other day when I used it for 5 miles or so of riding. The next day, it would power up and display looks normal but no pedal assist or throttle. Well, almost nothing. I can hear the motor make a little noise and on the stand, sometimes the drive moves two or three teeth of chain slowly. If I pedal backwards it will bump the chain those two to three teeth every time.

The display isn't showing any codes, I unplugged the brake cutoffs, no gear sensor, I unplugged and replugged everything. I checked the cables for damage and the battery gives me 54.4 on the multimeter. I also plugged in the programming cable, no change in behavior. I haven't installed the software yet and plugged in into the laptop. Any ideas what this could be or how to troubleshoot further? Thanks.

Hey y'all, I recently bought a new controller for my bafang bbshd that I shorted but after connecting everything I keep getting error 21. The speed sensor's light turns red with the magnet still. I've tested the sensor and other components on a completely different motor and controller and they all work fine, just the new controller and original motor.

    thoughts?

Hi I need to replace my Luna BBSHD. My bottom bracket shell is 68mm and my existing Luna motor has a "68mm" label on it. The total length of the insert that goes into the shell is 91mm. The bare motor product page doesn't list a 68mm version--and doesn't say if it's backordered:

BBSHD motor and drive unit for an amazing price of $500 for users wanting to upgrade from bbs02 or bbs01 or e-RAD and already have all the necessary external hardware.

Same with the full BBSHD kit...so is 68mm backordered, if so when might be in stock? thanks, pete

Hi, I'm building an ebike and need a hub motor recommendation. My tires will be 15" diameter and 5" wide with 8" diameter rims. I can make a 135mm wide hub work, but 170-190mm is preferable. I'm ok with a top speed of 15-20mph and hill climbing torque with no pedaling is more important. I weigh 190lbs and will be carrying a 20lb dog so load will be 210lbs.Also looking for something quiet.

I was looking at the Luna Mac 6T, but some people were saying it's noisy, and it's on the less wide side at 135mm. The bafang 750w 170mm wide fat hub looks like an option. How quiet is it, and what would my top speed on flat be with 52v and an actual 15" diameter wheel? Would it have enough power for good hill climbing ability at lower speeds? Also open to other recommendations and even running dual hubs if needed. Thanks.

For something with that load you would probably want a geared hub, so you're on the right track with the mac. You would probably want the 12t thought, or at least something like 8t or 10t. We don't have any of these in the width you need currently though, so you would probably need to find it elsewhere.

I was wondering if any of you were sur ron owners who had had the problem of the bike being turned on, the display blinks 8 times and then turns off. Any advice of what I should do?

Hello, I purchased the Luna Wolf pack 52v V1 and the charging connector is male. I also purchased the 52v mini charger and the connector is male. Is there an adapter so I can connect the two and charge the battery? Thanks.

The xt60 on wolf is female. The mini should be as well unless it is from pretty long ago.. the male version has prongs.
You could change the gender of the connector easily enough with this xt60 pigtails set https://lunacycle.com/xt60-set-conne...with-pigtails/
If you don't solder you can use solder sleeves and a lighter. Or crimp it with butt splices.
There is also probably an adapter you can get. It would be a male to male xt60 adapter if both the charger and the battery have female gender.

Is the Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit available for a 68mm bottom bracket still?

Hi it is temporarily out of stock but we should have more within couple weeks or so.

hi, I recently bought my third bbshd kit. This latest one came with the mini 550c display. I have been learning about and successfully programing the bbshd controller and displays. After programing this one and changing some values, I got a code on the display, 04H and the throttle dosen't work. Tried a different throttle, still same code no throttle. I've since learned that you are supposed to unplug the battery before programing. I did not. Also I inadvertently clicked 'write' on the RIGHT hand side of pentoffs page. Not the left part where you read and write changes. After that I got the 04h code. How can I clear the code and get the throttle back? Hope I haven't fried something. thank you, Happy Motoring, e-rod
