well, Thanks HIGHVOLTAGE, You are right. I put it back to the Luna-BBSHD settings on the left the chart and the throttle is back! Great! I wonder what I did to trip the code 04H? I have been experimenting with low start current (pas) and low start current and start voltage (Throttle handle). Im going to keep trying that. It's great when the throttle doesn't bang so hard when it starts. I had it slowed down to feeling the very winding pulses at the start, then I did something and got the code on the display. Maybe in the PAS speed limit line when I tried to choose 40km instead of by display command. It's fun to experiment and learn about this, thanks again for the quick and knowledgeable reply. I'm building a 2013 ( suspension fork) girls townie for my wife. She loves it. I will put up a build post and pictures . ( the bbshd will not fit above the bottom bracket when you cut out the front derailleur stub, oh well). Happy Motoring, e-rod

New to e-bikes but trying to learn all I can. There's a Luna 650 Lone Wolf with the Ludicrous package for sale near me. Are there any special maintenance items for this config?

Would it be possible to run two 36 volt batteries with a series to parallel switch and get 72 volts at controller on the bbshd

With lithium that uses a BMS it's probably not a great idea. Also it is fairly likely that the kind of controller that is pulling 72 V would be pulling much more current than what those 36 V batteries were designed for.

Just got new BBSHD and I have an erad display. Display turns on but speed sensor doesn't light up. I haven't mounted the motor in case I need to return I don't want to scratch it. Is there anyway I can validate this?

Wave the magnet in front of the sensor. If it does not flash, it is either the sensor or the controller.

So, I reconnected my old motor (with a hall sensor error) and the speed sensor works. So I guess I have a new motor with a bad controller? Could it be the battery connection would power the display, provide no error, but not power the speed sensor? I'm wondering if the pins from my Erad speed sensor can reach the Luna motor connection. Will the motor work without the speed sensor working?

That bike seems relatively problematic compared to most frames..It might be possible, but I would not recommend it. I suppose if you wanted to you could mount the controller on the underside of the downtube near where the motor is, but again I would not recommend this..

ok so i have just purchased the ASI BAC 800 Controller 72v Version for the Cyclone 3K 4000w.
i took of my stock 40 amp controller and fitted the new ASI BAC 800 Controller, only now the bike motor is cutting out at about two thirds of the way through the throttle twist.

eg. i twist throttle and the motor starts spinning but as soon as i twist it passed two thirds of a rotation the motor stops spinning altogether and wont spin again until i have turned the throttle off and on again.
i know its not the throttle as its working perfectly well on the old controller.

please could you give me some advice as i think my new controller might be a dud.
      please reply asap, thank you

      FIXED:
Never mind about above i fixed the issue, one of the hall wires on the cable that came with ASI BAC 800 Controller was loose. I took apart added a little solder and all is well now.

      cheers

Fixed Stealth seat tube diameter? 27.2mm? Just ordered a Stealth and would like to get a suspension post and the correct shims on the way...

          Hi,

I recently received a new Sur Ron with a DNM fork. Unfortunately though the two sides of the fork are significantly different lengths in the front. Is it possible to adjust this length?Click image for larger version

Mine was the same. It's because each leg has a different function. Just compress the longer fork as you slide the axle through. Works best to put your front wheel in place (in the brake caliper) and then slide the axle in from the brake caliper leg. Once the axle comes out the other side of the wheel, simply compress by hand (push up on) the longer fork leg enough to slide the axle through.

I am working on a project to convert an old moped into an electric bike and I'm interested in using the bafang ultra magnesium motor.
With a steel frame the mounting bracket is not an option. Do you have a technical drawing showing the motor mount locations or a drawing of the mounting bracket? I want to machine either a bracket adapter from my moped motor mounts or a steel version of the mount adapter you guys sell.

Unfortunately I don't think these measurements are available right now.

What is the chain length (# of links) of a stock Sur-Ron X 420 O-Ring chain? How many additional links are needed (and/or how many total links needed) to change to the Luna 54 Tooth sprocket? (I won't be able to use the links that Luna sends with the 54 tooth sprocket because they send non-O-Ring links rather than O-Ring links like what is on the X).

I just received my Luna advanced charger, including the adapter to convert from XT60 to Barrel, but i can't join them together. The connector on the charger is male, as is the end of the barrel connector. There's an adapter included but it's not female to female which i imagine it would have to be to join these together..
Is there a way to join these? Am i missing something?
            Thanks

Mind you I'm not Luna Im just giving you a solution to get you running. What I would do...If I only plan on using the barrel connector and not the XT60, I'd pay attention to polarity of the plugs, snip off the XT60 connectors and splice and solder the barrel plug right on the lead from the charger.

If you ever plan on using the XT60 then id snip off the XT60 from your barrel adapter and solder on the female XT60...If you don't solder they have solder tube connectors that will work like heat shrink or you could check locally for a RC Club or Repair shop often they will do a quick solder job like that for next to nothing if they charge you at all...

If your willing to wait I'm betting if you call or email Luna support they will send you an adapter with the correct connector you need though and make it right. Depends on if you want to get running to today or are willing to wait. Cheers!

You have the wrong gender adaptor. You need an XT60 female.

Hi guys, i own a BMC Granfondo GF01 with a Shimano 105, according to the manfuacturerer it runs a BB86 press fit bottom bracket,
i was wondering if its compatible with the BBSHD, is there anythings that i need to take into consederation?

attached are images of the bike.
            thanks !

              update :
i understand from the first comment by ncrkd the BBSHD is overkill for my bike?
so what motor option could be better? thanks.

IMHO, I wouldn't add ANY motor to that bike, other than maybe a low power hub motor - as it is, it's simply not up to the task.

Perhaps you're thinking, like many of us did initially for our first builds, "I'll just hang a motor on a featherweight, and I'll go 50MPH!"

The drivetrain on you bike is designed to handle maybe twice your 200 watt output - bolt on a BBSHD (if it'll even fit in that carbon BB), let 'er rip, and you'll most likely experience spoke/wheel failures, 11-speed chains pulled apart, tires wearing quickly, etc.

There's nothing wrong with your bike, for its intended purpose.

You'd be better off keeping that featherweight gem as it is, and finding some new or secondhand, mid grade mountain/hybrid/commuter/touring bike to motor.

Look at the component strength differences between your bike and even a 50cc motorcycle - not even in the same league - the design parameters are very different.

              IMHO ...

If you still want to, I believe you'll need to perform some carbon frame clearance checks (between the BB and the motor), and if no issue there buy a PF041 adapter (https://lunacycle.com/pf-41-adapter-...ttom-brackets/).

thanks ncrkd, apreciate sharing your opnion, i'm new to all of this and any info isnt yet common sense to me, i might as well look for some secondhand bike for this pet project instead of experminting on a 3 grand bike

            Hi,

I have one of your kits with BBS02 750W mid drive and a C965 display which was mounted professionally by islandciityebikes.com in march 2019. It has been working perfectly until recently, but I now have a weird problem which I can't find the answer to anywhere else.

In the beginning the throttle lever worked as expected. Then is started to "shudder" when in use. Then (coincidentally after I replaced the speed sensor) it stopped working, but I now get a "jolt" of throttle each time I start pedaling and the motor engages. When the load is light, the jolts will come randomly while i pedal. If the load is higher, there will be one larger jolt before error code 04h flashes up. Pedal assist is functioning normally and I can use the bike. Also, if I turn the display off, I can not turn it back on again without switching the system off and on again.

I have tried to disconnect the throttle, but this gave no change. I have also replaced the Y 1 to 4 cable, but this gave no change either. I tried changing the speed sensor back to the original, but this didn't give any change. I have also sprayed all the connectors, but this didn't help.

To me it sounds like i have a short between the motor power and the throttle cable. I just can't seem to find out where this short is, and how to fix it.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello, my 52v Luna Mini charger (the $60 one) is two years old and today, it's not working.

When I plug it in, the red and green LED come on, but when I plug it into my battery, it does't not charge, the fan does not come on either and the LED doesn't change to red to indicate charging. The bettery is at 54v. 58 is a full charge.

What are some trouble shooting steps I can take to maybe fix the charger?

I used a multimeter to test the voltage on the charger and it read 0. Will adjusting the charger do anything about that?

Could be a failed battery connector. Check voltage at connector, if zero this means broken wire or broken solder joint at connector. I have had this happen multiple times. Connector may be poor quality - replace. Strain relief may be bad, putting high stress on wires at connector. I wrap the connector and cable with multiple wraps of electrician's tape. Wrap the tape over the last 3 or 4" of cable to minimize stress on wires. Or use several layers of heat shrink tubing.

I have a 1500 watt voilamart hub n just bought the 60amp Bluetooth controller. I can't figure out the wiring of this. Plzzzz help..

That controller was meant for Cyclones. This is outside of the expertise of this thread unfortunately. I'd probably recommend getting a kit that includes both a controller & a motor together rather than buying them separate.
