soo, as i stated before I was running the eclipse with a 42 tooth chainring, with 2 spacers and a 9 gear cassette, it went in to all gears with no battery, but when under power it would not run in 7 - 9, maybe almost in 7 depending on the torque. Soo I boughta 42 tooth Lekkie bling ring, still used 1 spacer and now it goes well in all gears minus 9th which is still a bit finiky. I will probably try one more spacer or just live with it. I might want to drop to the 36 tooth Lekkie, but is it further spaced out than the 42 tooth

very important question, I installed the magnetic battery mount for my Wolf battery. I only have 2 screws for the water bottle, but that does not seem like enough as there is major strength needed to remove the battery (tipping it sideways) I am worried I need at least one more rivnet. How many are suggested?

Most people just use two. You should not need much force to remove the battery, tipping sideways does not stress that mount very much (assuming you are fully screwed into those two holes).

But if you wanted to you could add a bunch by using a couple of these no drill mount kits https://lunacycle.com/no-drill-battery-mount-kit/

That would give you everything you need to easily add 4 mount points without potentially weakening the frame. Not a bad way to go if you have concerns about 2 bolts not being enough.

Those are interesting but I think I will put one more rivnut, that way I have one twords the top and one more will not weaken the frame.

Regarding the magnetic mounts, are there any specific torque recommendations? Taking the Luna Wolf on and off must have some effect, no? I've avoided removing mine by usin a lead.

No specific torque, just make sure it is firmly screwed in. Maybe add some blue loctite to the threads.

Not saying you need to overtighten, especially if it is being screwed into a rivnut compared with the sort of mount I linked to above that is much more of a solid bolt hole. Just saying that if it is so loose that the mount is able to wiggle around, that would stress the mount holes more than any object which is firmly mounted onto the mount hole.

Cyclone 3000 motor was running fine when stored at the beginning of cold weather. This week the weather cleared and I set the bike up for a run, but the motor jerked and quit. I suspected a bad thumb throttle, even though the LED screen on the throttle was lit. I replaced the thumb throttle with a newly ordered half twist. I also found that the trip switch flipped inside the triangle bag, 48v 20AH battery. After the half-twist was installed, the motor ran fine for about a minute then jerked several times and quit. Cycle Analyst v3 shows power (53v) and is cycling between screens. The LED screen on the half-twist throttle displays 53v. Battery tests were positive. Are the settings on the Kelly Controller set correctly? And what should I look at next?

Maybe the bms battery can not handle that much current, 120a is a lot even for a 20ah pack. If you have the stock controller maybe try swapping to that one to compare

Hey all - fork question here. Mine seem to be completely out of alignment. Someone told me this is normal, but I've never seen forks set up this way. The right side (from rider view) sits about 1/2" lower than the left side. So much so, that I have to compress the fork to get the axle in at all. Is this normal? Seems like it would cause undue stress to the axle at a minimum. Pics attached

Is there any travel adjustment available there? Seems like the two legs may be adjusted differently for travel.

It'S totally normal on all upside down forks ( reason it's called the USD, for UpSideDown), one leg is the damping system and the other is the spring . so when you take out the axle, one leg will want to fully extend and the other will want to stay that way. When the axle is properly set in place both legs will move together.

No that model is fixed to 200mm max travel.

I have a few questions. I purchased one of your black boxes. What program out of the different programs in the box is the 1500w program, luna bbshd or ludicrous? I need to beable to also run a 750w and 500w program for the bbshd cause the the regulations we have. I'm running a 52v 17.5 ah battery. What do I need to change to get the 750 and 500w?

Ok under the advance setting with the black box I can make changes. I have it set to the luna bbshd. Under basic it shows assist 0-9 current and speed. My display is what comes with your kit no extra charge. It only has assist to 5. Its showing on the black box 9 being 100 current and 100 speed. 5 showing 60 current 96 speed. Do I need to change anything to get the most performance out of mine with this display being it only goes to 5?

Color displays can be set to 9 levels if you want. If your display does not, it will go off of every other level in there. 1,3,5,7,9

      Hi,
I want to electrify a ventana MTB tandem. I can bring the bike down to the shop to explore what solution works best. I just need to know if someone is there this Monday afternoon. I can be there around 2pm.
      Thanks
      Ed

Sorry, the shop does not do custom installs at this time with the exception of the custom builds on our listings. No the shop is not open to the public on mondays.

If you are in LA you might check out these guys, they can do the install for you and we can provide the parts http://www.bikecraze.com/

      PAxtana,

Thanks for the quick answer. My question was not fully clear, I will do my own installation hoping to buy the parts from Luna directly. I was looking at a bbso2 but I like the mini cyclone better. Is there a time I can call?

Sure, probably will need to leave a message but calls get returned within a day or so.

I do not think I have ever seen someone do cyclone on a tandem, not sure that is possible but maybe? It has been done several times on bbs02 and bbshd though

I received my conformal coating kit for my Wolf battery today. Very well done. Very well explained. Kit is thoroughly complete down to the rubber gloves and a napkin. You realized there might be a problem in some applications and dealt with it very effectively. My compliments!

I received mine as well and very much agree. Nicely Done!

I have the 1500w bbshd. My question is with the 42t front sprocket I'm getting 15 mph with just using throttle on flat ground in 10t sprocket and in 34t sprocket on the rear. I would think with switching from 34t to 10t I would of picked up speed? What would be the reason I'm not?

For some reason bafang did a production run of those with a default option within the display to be limited to about 17 miles per hour. All you need to do is change that in the menu options for the display. There is info on how to do this on the listing with links to manual https://lunacycle.com/bafang-display-dpc-07/

        Glad to hear it :)

I have a Shark 48v and blue charger of yours. At the end of a charging cycle the charger continues to cycle off and on at about 2 sec. intervals. Why? and will this hurt either the charger or battery? This doesn't happen with my other battery, Its not a Shark but one of your other 48v types. Thanks, Mark

Completely normal operation. It's trickle charging during the final stages of it's charging cycle. This usually takes awhile but you can pretty much unplug it and use it right away if you want to as the battery is practically at full charge anyways.

Hi guys - I just rode my brand new X1 for the first time off road. I got about a mile before I received an Error 30 and the bike would no longer work.
Both cables are properly seated in the display but the cable going to the motor came disconnected multiple times throughout the ride. Is there any way to fix this as well?

How can I get the bike back to life?

      Thanks!

Also important to note: the display at first turns on normally but shows 0% power (even thought the battery is full charged). After about 2-3 seconds the Error 30 message pops up.

Error 30 is communication error. Probably display or harness, or the connectors on them. Could also be the controller sometimes. Please email support, we can get it figured out so it's working fine support@lunacycle.com

I need a new battery for my Luna BBS-02 from 2017. I purchased a 52v shark battery (described here https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...f-at-~52-volts) that cuts off at about 52v without warning.

how do I know if it's the battery or the BBS-02 that's causing the problem? What happens if I get a new battery from Luna (they're in stock now!) and the same problem occurs?

i tried to flash a new firmware on the controller using the programming cable, but it keeps waiting during programming - presumably because my battery doesn't have an on/off switch like the newer ones do (what does that do?)

Why can i not get the start current any higher than 20 on the BBSHD with the Luna black box,if i try to increase the start current it just says invalid number entered if it is over 20.

Max should be 30, or 25 for Ludi settings.

Is the motor originally purchased from LunaCycle? If not, it could be limited in the firmware to 20. Some vendors do that.

Just bought an X1 w/Ludicrous, I just installed a bigger (42 T) chainring which makes it possible to pedal at speeds above 25 so I'm finding the assist cut at 25 (or maybe it's 26?) to be very annoying. Is there a way to turn this off or up.

I am not aware of any cut at any speed, I believe there are videos in the knowledge base thread testing this that other X1 buyers did.
