There are different batches shipping as different times. We ran out of the Mid-May and Early May batch and now we're accepting June pre-orders.

Hi, so I'm just discovering this world, thinking about buying or building a bike for commuting / trail riding on the weekends and I've got a couple questions.

Would it be possible for someone kinda new to bikes to add a throttle to the Fixed Stealth Ebike and integrate a headlight / tail light?

Would a 750+ Watt motor shred a gates carbon / internally geared hub like the Alfine-8 or a Rohloff? I'm hearing mixed messages on that and don't want to sink a ton of money into a custom build only to shred it.

Not possible to add throttle. Maybe possible to add lights but I would not recommend it since all the existing wiring is routed internally so you would have to make a hole somewhere and splice into it, that hole could cause problems. Easier to just use a wireless rechargeable light

Nothing would shred a Rohloff. Same with a gates. Other IGH can be problematic, especially in how they are implemented, maintained and so on. I would not do so unless up for a challenge.

I just got my new BBSHD drive and have got it mounted in the BB and the cranks on it. Is it normal to hear two clicks every time the crank arms go around as if you would be pedaling? It appears to be coming from inside the drive unit. I haven't powered it up yet

I don't know about a click in particular but none of them are totally silent when pedaling. Often it sounds more like gears turning inside (since that is what is happening in there). For what it's worth the two I got in front of me sound louder than that.

    Hello,
I got a new phone. It's the Samsung galaxy S20. I installed the Yuyangking app and followed the instructions as I did with my old phone last year. Now I cannot connect to my bike and adjust my settings. I purchased the Bluetooth programmable controller because I need to adjust my settings periodically to fit the terrain. So... I turned on bike. Opened app. Selected Cyclone. Entered password 1234. No connection. Logged out then back in. Selected Cyclone. The connection icon came on the screen. Stays on the screen and will not connect. Waited over five minutes, no connection. Same icon on the screen the whole time. I tried all the other prompts and options in the app and pdf instructions. What is the fix for this issue. Please advise

I take it that it still connects to your old phone? If so then it is probably something to do with your new phone.

My old phone was sent back to sprint. I installed the Yuyangking app on my tablet. It didn't work. I installed it on another backup phone I have. It did the same thing. I installed it on my roommate's phone. Same indefinite connecting promt screen. I installed it on my daughter's phone. It has been ten minutes and it is still sitting on the same screen as all other devices I've tried. It has nothing to do with mynnew phone, that has now definitely been ruled out. It is not working on Androids or Apple devices. What can be done to fix this problem. Please advise. Thank you

Are you sure that is the same exact app that you installed previously? I think there may have been different versions at some point. If that doesn't help you may need to ask Cyclone.

I am sure it's the same app. It was restored from the phone I was just using to program the controller. I purchased the system and it's bluetooth controller upgrade from Luna Cycles. Cyclone is the motor, Luna sold the controller. I'm having problems with the controller connecting to the app. Can Luna Cycle help me if I try to contact them directly?

Yes Luna sold the controller..which was sourced from cyclone. Maybe they would be able to provide additional input, but basically if it was working right until you switched phones I do not see how switching phones would somehow cause the controller to be faulty. Sure it's worth a shot to reach out I suppose but not sure how far you will get.

Thank you for your time and I greatly appreciate your assistance. I will attempt to utilize both resources to see if a fix can be found.

This is probably the wrong section to post this, but I respect Pax's and Luna's opinions. I am at a point of needing to do some upgrades to my custom ebike, and all my experience has been from Luna and Bafang. This is the bike in question:
This will be my home page for everything involved in this build: I want to re-create this bike, but with a better drive than the BLAASCHHH. Frame, Tank, and all the components can be purchased from Ruff-cycles for aprox $1100. Thats with a US/BMX bottom bracket instead of the Bosch mount. This will be my 2nd eBike, but I have

My BBSHD has finally died. Not its fault, I have been running it with a phaserunner controller at higher voltage for over a year, so no complaints. BUT, I am now needing to decide on what way to go on the re-build. I would prefer a DD Hub motor in the 3-5k watt range, but Luna does not sell such a beast. I could be convinced to go with a Cyclone if it is a good fit in your opinion. Or lastly I was given permission/ access to the Ludi controller a year ago, so my LAST option was to just buy a new BBSHD with one of those and call it done. Now you know my outlook, here are some of my hag ups.
I love the QS motors, but they seem to all need 17-19" moto/ moped rims. I want to keep my rims and just lace the DD Motor into the rear one. From what I have found online, most higher wattage hub motors need the smaller moped rim. As far as the cyclone, I understand it is a more difficult installation, and my bike is a bit on the non standard dimensions side. Do you see any issues/ warnings? Lastly if I have to choose the replace the BBSHD with another, would Luna still honor the permission for the ludi controller? Having some of these answered will help me a lot in my decision. Thanks for all you have helped me with in the past Pax, and Luna.

All motor types will have have their quarks and differences. hub or mid-drive. Not sure if that is something I am able to cover in this thread under a single post. You may want to do some research on this subject by watching videos and browsing the forums. This thread is mainly for light troubleshooting with Luna products. Not sure if I can really make this decision for you that isn't going to be a wall of text. I'd recommend doing a lot of reading in these forums and making sure to check out every stickied thread regarding the Cyclone to get a really good solid understanding of what to expect with that motor.

For Ludi permission, just send an email to support@lunacycle.com with your previous order # and they should be able to help you with that :P

As long as we still have ludicrous in stock you can get it sure. you don't necessarily need a smaller rim when using a hub motor It's just preferable for a lot of reasons for example that hub motor is going to be super heavy which means it puts a lot of stress on the rim so if you go with a smaller rim it's stronger and less likely to go out of true.

Also depending on the winding of the hub motor some people prefer to use a fast-wind in a small rim. But you could just as easily optimize by using a slow wind with a large rim. The effective wheel diameter will play a part in how much top speed you get and what sort of technical optimization you have on torque versus speed.

I don't have any question right now but I truly appreciate this initiative.

So the magnetic battery mounting plate for the wolf battery is already out of stock again. Any idea on a time frame?

Not too sure on that one, you could try posting the request on the restock request thread that was just made

Hello my bafang kit is about a year old. Recently I have been getting code 11 errors when the bike is fist turned on the on and then off and off a bit but mostly error message is on. Then on the last couple of rides I am not always getting full power from the motor. Then suddenly full power. I have a grip type throttle which doesn’t impact the power or speed when used. I do get when I pedal but not the full power.

Error 11 is temperature sensor related, I shouldn't really have anything to do with how much power you have on throttle or pedal assist.. is the motor getting hot or anything like that? Have you tried opening it up to see if the core is in good condition? If nothing else it sounds like trying a new controller would be a good start

What are the specs on the head and tail light connectors on the BBSHD harness? Voltage, pinout, current rating? I'd like to integrate lights with the display and keypad, to take advantage of they ambient light sensor and the keypad light button.

There is no such connector on the bbshd harness. On some controllers it has a wire coming right out the controller that can be controlled by keypad light button but we eschew that factory option in favor of the gearsensor. The ambient light sensor has nothing to do with that hypothetical light wire, its use is to dim or brighten the display screen depending on whether it is detecting daylight or night

That's unfortunate but it does clarify things, thanks.

soo, I have ran the 500c display since I built the bike, I like it but the display is small and honestly I can never read how many watts are bieng used. two weeks ago the hinge on the clamp broke, so I took that oppurtunity to order a 750c. I like the layout and the big watts readout. it arrived this week and I installed it. Rode today and as soon as I was in the sun I could not see anything. The brightness is at the max but in the sun, I cannot read it at all. Is there a setting I am missing? Should I swap to a 860C? My friend has a 860c and it deffinitly looks brighter. However i love the layout of the 750c Help please so I can order a 860c if I need to then ship the 750c back. Also, what is this: https://lunacycle.com/double-torque-...ement-display/ Is this one modded to show the correct watts since I run a Ludi controller?

If you got brightness up all the way and are not liking it then sounds like it's not going to suit your needs, there are no additional settings if that's what you mean. Sure 860c is very bright if that's what you are going for.

The display you linked was a modded version of 750c for a motor that has since been discontinued. It has nothing to do with ludicrous

Is there a rough estimate on wait time for an approved Ludi controller for a BBSHD? Doing a rebuild on the BBSHD instead of moving to a hub motor.

That was already approved, assuming we have enough left it should just be usual lead time

Can you reset the controller? Maybe it is fixated on looking for your old phone. I know my Truck and my Blue Parrot fight over my phone and if I want to switch from one to the other I have to do crazy things.
