installed eggrider v2 display on luna bbshd with hot rod controller program... bike seems a lot slower now..
does eggrider display cancel out the luna hot rod controller tune?

It has the capability to reprogram a controller so I suppose depending on what you did that could affect it

Hello and Happy Friday! I ordered a cable throttle and the throttle box for our most recent Sur Ron purchase. It came with the electric throttle and it was just too twitchy. I searched for but couldn't find on the forum. I am looking for instructions on how to replace the electric with the cable throttle and throttle box. Are there instructions anywhere for this? Thank you!

Also, I just noticed this on the throttle page (which I ordered)....."Only what is pictured is included. Does not include black clamp / housing." Where do I get the black clamp/housing? Thank you!

We do not have any of the throttle housing, clamp, cable guide etc but yeah you would need that if you were to replace the electronic with the earlier type.

Hi there, hope you guys can help.
I I have a Luna performed bb conversion of an old beach cruiser using Luna's smaller square battery pack, and the less expensive 58v,2a charger that they sold with it (lbc140201)

Yesterday I hopped off as usual and plugged it in. Rather than it going from the normal solid green when it's not plugged in to a solid red when it is plugged in, the charger LED started doing a flash every second or two that starts red and goes green. I've changed outlets, extension cords etc.

Bike still work s, pedal assist and throttle still work.

Is there any way to tell if this is the battery having a problem taking a charge, or just the cheap charger no longer working?

And if it's a case of just needing a new charger, anybody have a good Amazon recommendation? :-) I'd want something returnable in case it ultimately turns out to be the battery.

      Thanks!

        Please help.
I recently purchased a 2021 Giant Trance and the BBSHD kit. This was going to be my fourth build. I previously converted a Sixthreezero cruiser, a Giant Sedona and a Liv Sedona. I always wanted to convert a full suspension mountain bike and I chose the Giant Trance because I could easily fit the shark or the wolf batteries inside the triangle.
I was in the process of doing the conversion when I discovered the Mighty Mini 30T would not accept the Giant’s 12-speed chain. I also discovered that Luna doesn’t make a BBSHD chainring that will accept a 12-speed chain and that I would need to modify the bike to a 10 speed. So now I must purchase a new cassette, chain, shifter and derailleur. Aside from the added cost, it pains me to remove perfectly good components off of a brand-new bicycle. To top it all off, I also discovered that my bike came with the Shimano microspline free hub body and virtually no 10 speed cassettes work with that free hub body. As a result, I'll have to purchase a new hub and rebuild the rear wheel. Argh.... I know I have no one to blame but myself but virtually all of the quality full suspension mountain bikes now come with 12-speed cassettes and 12-speed chains. A 12-speed chainring would solve this problem and prevent me from having to make a $500 modification to my brand-new bike. Does Luna or Leike have any plans to produce a 12-speed version of the Eclipse 42T?
Do any of you have any suggestions?
I would greatly appreciate your advice.
        Thanks,
        Tim

You might be able to make it work if you carefully file down the teeth to be a bit narrower

In my case, the eclipse 42t chainring works perfectly after I reduced the height of each tooth slightly, maybe 1/8th inch or so. I made the alterations using a bench grinder, nice, clean and straight that way, for me anyway. I was riding 15 mins later! Thank goodness, as I too was very surprised when I learn the the 12 speed was a problem. I’ve Been hammering the bike all summer in the trails and haven’t had a problem yet

IMO you don't need 12 gears with an electric motor. The motor has max torque at zero rpms so something like a 3 speed is all you really need assuming you ride from very slow to very fast. If you only ride off road, I'd go with the 30T Mighty Mini in the front and a single 22T in the rear and never shift gears. Just leave your derailleur in place and use it as a chain tensioner. Another option is to take your cassette apart and use spacers for an 7-8 speed set up. Your shifter will need to change as well because the indexing will be off. Then run a chain for a 7 or 8 speed bike. Sure is nice to have the narrow/wide tooth pattern on the Mighty Mini to avoid the chain coming off. I believe you could also convert your cassette to fewer gears by using spacers between the gears so you skip every other gear. Getting the spacing correct will be a little bit of a challenge but is doable. So when finished you will have your existing 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th...etc. gears. You'll end up with half as many gears. You could then run the Mighty Mini without modification with a 7-8 speed chain and run your existing shifter. You'll have to be very careful when changing gears but it will work...sort of a unique set up so most would probably not recommend it for the novice builder.

        Hey guys,
I'm installing a new Cyclone 3k, and the new mini Sine wave controller is pretty cool! Can you tell me the current limit of the 24v fan output?
        Thanks!

Sorry Rix we do not know the answer to that question...

I'm a big guy, ~420 lbs (195+ kg) before the bike and cargo, with a 15-mile commute - how does this affect which motor I should get, and how does the weight affect the max speed and range? Are any of the motors ok with pushing that much load?

I would only work with the BBSHD or maybe the cyclone, and make sure to keep it downshifted into the lowest gears, maybe regularly checking how hot the motor is getting as well as possibly using a smaller chainring like 42t eclipse. Keeping it in low gear will definitely affect speed, and hauling multiple times the average load will also greatly affect range. You would probably want a large battery.

im 200 lbs and carry a 25 lbs backback. The BBSHD breaks on the regular. Maximum millage is 500 before it gets loud and makes growling noises. Once it gets loud max range is 200 miles before something inside SNAPS and then, any twist of the throttle results in a extra loud stripped gear sound. The bike goes no where and you have to pedal home or call uber.
I thought I would flout the law and not pay the government and lawyers to get my license back.
End of the day, it was cheaper giving the state & lawyers $7,000 to get legal again then to keep buying BBSHD motors and parts.

If your into it as a hobby, okay. but, any time you need to be some place on time, or face consequences, the last thing you need to be on is a BBSHD powered vehicle. And new items out of the box aredead25% of the time, and wont be fixed for free ever. You will pay, directly or indirectly for bad equipment.

        Hello

i would appreciate any ideas on what it could be wrong with the following:

        Bafang BBS02b - it has about 5000km

today as i was cycling i noticed that when PAS kicks in, it never stops, unless i take the PAS down to 0 or press the cut off brake.

I also noticed that if i lift the bike rear wheel on a stand so that it can rotate freely, then i turn the crank, the PAS activates and start spinning, if i try to back pedal , it is still spinning, if i remove my hand from the pedal, then the crank hijacks the pedal and the whole thing is spinning till i stopped it with either of the 2 ways i mentioned above.

i suspect its either the clutch or some sort of PAS malfunction.

        i would appreciate any advice

        Many thanks

        Christo

briskup Many thanks for the advice, the issue was what you described, fortunately i rode the bike only few miles after the appearance of the issue so the motor parts seem to be unaffected.

you guys are lucky. My BBSHD's, all 3 of them, (stock 28 AMP controllers) last under 1000 miles before they break. New ones ship with broken controllers. In total, I bought 4 motors, and 6 controllers and traveled about 2,000 miles. But, the 4th motor / 6th controller are still running. So, maybe I will get 2500 miles. How yall get 5K with nothing breaking is amazing.

Exactly, I was jealous to read about 5000km before first break. I have 2 bbs02 now. When one breaks, I just switch them and fix broken one for next time. So far have 10000 miles on both in total. In the beginning considered lucky to get 1000 miles without break.

Greatly depends on riding style. Lately I mostly go on throttle, reprogrammed throttle to cut off at lower speed at medium PAS. Still have full power at higher PAS if I need it.
Last time I switched motors about 3000 miles ago. So far so good.
Even my brake pads last twice longer now, lol.

It's all about the gearing. We used a BBS02 for awhile on our tandem trike. It had plenty of power but we used a 38 tooth chainring with an 11-34 cassette on a 20" wheel. With the 2 of us on our big heavy trike, our total weight was up around 475 or 500 pounds. I would definitely use the BBSHD for the stronger gears and bigger cooling fins.

My new Sur Ron Light Bee arrived and I assembled it last week. It came with the Volcano front forks. Upon assembly, the dust seal on each of the front forks detached and is hanging around mid-way on the forks. I tried to slide it back up to lock into place on the forks but it will not stay. Do the forks need to be rebuilt or replaced to fix this issue?

          Hi!
I have a Bafang display DP C10.C 1.0. There is nowhere I can enter a password to change settings. I’ve watched a lot of youtube videos how to change the size of the tires or speedlimit but all of them have a place to put in a password, but not in mine. Anyone who has experienced the same?

          Thanks!

Yes I did and the problem is that there is nowhere I can type in the password, it says SPL 25km/h but no blank spaces where I can type in 0512.

If the video was not help you might want a different display, the more recent color displays are much easier to use and they look a lot nicer too

i have a bbshd that i built for my wife bought through luna. the throttle and pas stopped working at the same time.
luna was out controllers so i purchased one through golden motor out of canada. I dont have shift sensors or brake sensors installed . display turns on with no codes
Replaced controller with no change. The bike has about 100 miles on it and wondering if anyone knows if i need a luna specific controller?
There has been some education on not using high gear and climbing steep hills.
          Any sugestions?

If neither the replacement controller or the original controller works, AND you are able to power on your system with no codes, as well as no additional components like ebrakes installed, then it is pretty likely either the core got burnt up or it was plugged in incorrectly. I would unplug everything, plug it back in, and if no joy, pull the core and inspect it

Have a loose wire connection for throttle where the red arrow is in this harness image. I have bent the loose wire backward as a short term solution but won't last and plan to get a new harness. Hoping not to re-route the entire harness as it's internally routed and will be a PITA to re-route. It seems the harness unscrews where the blue arrow is but not brave enough to tug on the wire to see what happens. Does anyone know if you can tap into the harness where the blue arrow is? Or will I be stuck having to re-route the entire harness?

I need help please...I bought a used ebike with a Bafang Ultra (also known as the M620 and G.510). I noticed the head light acts like a brake light..becomes brighter when braking. I found the schematic of the motor and discovered the front light was incorrectly plugged into the “rear” light connector inside the motor housing.

My question is..Does Luna carry the Front Light Cable with the correct connector? One is larger than other (male & Female). Or, does anyone know the name of the BLUE connectors so I can make my own cable?

My plan is to reroute the existing cable that is designed for the rear to the rear, and to either purchase or make the correct cable going to the front light.

          Thanks in advance..See pictures.
