I would like to have some new batteries that will replace the batteries on several Izip bikes. Any way to make the battery case to fit the original bike setup? I want to maintain interchangeability.

Anything's possible if you fiddle with it long enough.. You would need to source the same connectors used, get a pack that would fit in the existing form factor, then probably the easiest thing would be to have the case custom made after having it 3D modeled. Big Blue saw could probably do it.
Alternately it would probably be bit easier to figure out some alternate method of mounting and connecting the batteries, like opening up the controller coming off of the bike and retrofitting it to have an XT 90, and making sure both the original battery and the replacement batteries use XT 90 along with however much wiring you need to place the batteries in the mounting position desired

Hey Team Luna! Just saw the Roam Fusion... is it possible to get the frame in "S" size? My standover height is at 29-30 but I would like a bit of a leeway and save "the boys" as it were... :) Thanks!

I believe the Fusion pack is designed specifically for those sizes so a small size wouldn't be possible without re-modifying the battery to fit.

    Hello,

I think I found a bug. I just bought the BBSO2 kit from Luna Cycle, and their display always reads full voltage on power-up.

    Case:
Ride bike for 1 hr, battery shows nearly dead. Unlplug, and plug back in. Display now reads full power. If I ride for a few more minutes, it will quickly deplete.

    Guess:
I think the display always initializes full battery as the battery voltage on powerup.

    More info:
The display I use looks like this one, but says Luna at the bottom instead.

Please let me know if there is a way to fix this issue. I am comfortable coding, and would be interested in modifying the display code if possible.

Thanks Paxtrana, If I can't get into the display, I will just add one of those battery gauges.

According to this post, Luna Cycles has attempted to get into the display code but was unsuccessful to get it to read right. Maybe I should talk to them.
I have the BBS02 with a 48v Shark GA 13.5ah battery and C961 display. The display always shows full battery charge. Has done this from day one. Any suggestions

You are talking with them, I am the CS manager at Luna. No display of any model has ever been reprogrammed for the gauge to accurately work with 52v, regardless of the vendor. With the more recent models you do have the ability to display voltage which is better than a gauge, but the 961 was one of the first models built and lacks this capability (hence it being a freebie on the kit)

      Paxtana,

Pleased to meet you! I conducted some further testing and sent to support@luncacycle.com. The gauge has a bug in it that is independent of the nominal battery voltage. If you are curious, you can look into it, but I'll just grab a different display than the 961 since the 961 doesn't support programming what I wanted.

      Thanks for the help.

I have a customer that has the Bafang BBSHD motor and would like to tone it down a bit. Do you have a "formula" for setting the motor to not be as powerful or a little bit more gentle? We bought it from Luna set to 750 watts but he wants it to be lighter assist.

Best way is to get a programming cable and change the amount of power delivery available to each pedal assist level. Bafang motor is open source and programmable with a usb cable and free software. At first I had trouble riding slow enough to ride with my younger kids until I figured out how to dial it back with software. For me pedal assist one is barely noticeable, and power delivery starts at pedal assist 3.

What values did you use, Peter?

For the pedal assist, all you need to do is tell him to not use the top pedal assist setting. On mine, it ranges 1-5, while 1-3 are pretty reasonable for a small boost.
For the max throttle if using a throttle, that option is explained here.
For information on the programming parameters and what they do you should check out The Hackers Guide to Programming the BBS02 located here. UPDATE: The BBSHD is programmed in the exact same way wi…

" I set the “Designated Assist” throttle power to display command so that I can set different throttle power levels by setting a higher PAS level with the PAS disabled. If you want max power on the thumb throttle just set the Designated Assist to 9."

For the luna fusion crusher 3, what is the size of the chainring ? Is it possible to order 42 or 46T lekkie bling ring ?

Looks like it comes with 42t lekkie from the pics, a nice improvement from the crusher 2. I doubt you could fit 46 on there.

I purchased the 1000w front hub kit about a year ago. Both included throttles worked for a time but have now failed. I was trying to purchase a replacement thumb throttle but was unable to find it on the website. It’s connector resembles a headphone jack. Any help in ordering a replacement would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi.
I have had a bbsHD kit from you guys about 6 months now, but my dpc-10 display got stolen. So I got a new dpc-14 but not from you this time (thought the shipping would be faster). The PAS is working but not the throttle and I get the 04H error. I can't seem to find a solution online only that the error is throttle related, any ideas what is going on? The bbshd controller should still have all the settings you did right?

Okay so the throttle error is like, if you were hitting the throttle before you turned on the power to the kit you would get this error, because you wouldn't want the motor to just take off if the bike were leaning against something that was pressing down on the throttle. So the throttle might be broken if it is in that activated position all the time internally, or it could be the wiring harness could be damaged somewhere. Next time you have it turned on try just unplugging the throttle and leaving it unplugged, you can still use the kit without the throttle. See if it goes away, if it does then your throttle is broken

My charger seems to have stopped working. I have a 52V 300W charger. When I plugin the AC input the display only shows about 10V. It used to say 50 something. When I plug the output into the battery I see the battery voltage of about 46V. The LED's are behaving as if the battery is fully charged, i.e. one is solid red and one is flashing green/red. I bought the bike a few months ago and this is the first real problem. I think I am going to order a cheap charger so I can get going and have a spare. What do I do to get the broken one fixed? Is it still under warranty?

Sounds internal and probably not repairable, please email support with your order number for warranty questions so they can look up how long ago you ordered it.

Thanks for the info. I did send the purchase data and was told that 5 months was outside the full replacement period. I was offered a discount on a new unit but I am a bit hesitant to buy another of these. First I am going to attempt repair of the one I have but like you said, it probably is not repairable unless I get lucky and can spot an obvious component failure.

I have chargers fail all the time. I just throw the broken ones in a box (spare parts for later?) and buy a new one.

Can you put a 42T Lekkie BBSHD Chainring on the KHS Fusion 500

      Comment

Hard to say for sure, but maybe. Looks like it might fit but it would be close and you might need a chainring spacer and slightly longer bolts. I don't think you could go higher than 42. We do have a video of that same frame being used with this 42 which is spaced out a little further outbound

I have a 52V bottle style battery for my 1000W motor. Followed forum rec's on charging. I've charged and discharged battery many times. Peak voltage on 100% setting on charger remains at 56.5V, as compared to a friend's that charges to more than 58V. Indicator on battery itself also does not indicate full charge (last indicator light does not turn green, never has). Thoughts or suggestions?

What model charger and what voltage does the charger output measured with a DVM?

If connectors are same, have you tried the friends' charger on your battery pack?

3 amp charger with knob to select 80, 90, and 100% charge. Haven't measured charger output. Different connection than other bike.

Use 100% charge mode and check the output with DVM. It should be a little above 58VDC.

I'm wondering if Luna Mechanics have fitted any of the Worksman Cycles with a BBSHD. Curious if this is something that could be a home build or would require some professional fitting by your mechanics. On the same note which option would be better to get one of the 3 or 7 speed options or a fixie. Worksman all seem to come with coaster and optional hub brakes would they be adiquit or would/could a hydraulic disc upgrade even be possible/reasonable/necessary. I know thats a lot all at once but I really do appreciate your input on this. looking at one of the M2600 models they offer specifically. Thanks

is there a better option? the reason I'm looking at Worksman is I'm 200 Kilos so I need a bike that will survive ME but i still would like the E factor as I know my limits and would need some help

I'm not sure what to suggest? BB shell is simply the wrong shape/size for BBSXX motors. People have found adapters but then you must deal with the rear brake which cannot be a coaster brake. Please check bottom of the product page for more information about fitting/installing - https://lunacycle.com/bafang-bbshd-1000w-mid-drive-kit/
