This is the only multi voltage battery charger I know of. Even electronics 'bench power supplies' often don't have that much range in em. The ones that do make the Satiator look like a bargain. https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicy...-model-8a.html

So nclinco connector is damaged and one is in order and on the way but was wondering if I can still plug it in with the existing prongs from the charger to charge my Surron.

Even if it was safe no company would be willing to take on the liability of instructing you to use broken electrical equipment

I just got my X2 Enduro delivered and assembled. It seems that it should have a bushing on the front wheel axle on the left side. There is no way to tighten
the axle nut without one. If I am correct then I will contact customer support and get the missing spacer. Thanks in advance!

    Comment

There were no bushings zipped to the wheel. One was already installed on the right side and the other one is MIA. Can I just order the one bushing? Also, I see Corki & Upstand are mentioned in your 2019 X1 Manual post. I have an X2. Will these stands work for a bike of this weight? Thanks!

Just email us we can ship you the spacer

Upstand should work on any bike in theory. Or if you're just looking for holding it in position to do quick maintenance you might check out the handlebar jack. Quite a useful tool in any case. https://www.handlebarjack.com/

I will send the email. Thank you so much for the handlebarjack suggestion! Exactly what I was looking for! I really appreciate your quick response!

Luna X1 Battery Compartment Lock - lost key

Hello all! I have totally misplaced my key for my Luna X1 Battery Compartment, and I know Luna can’t help with spare keys. Does anyone know the actual manufacturer of the compartment, so I can try to track down a replacement lock and key?

      Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to just call a locksmith, have them rekey it

Where can one find front sprockets for the Light Bee X? Plenty of shops sell rear sprockets, but I cannot find anyone in the US selling front sprockets, Luna included.

If you believe that wears out faster I'll have to take your word for it, mine still look like stock but then again I spend a lot more time helping people with their bikes than riding my own. In any case nobody on my team decides what should be a listing so we can't really comment on the rationale for what is available.

It's not a belief, it's simple physics: the same driving force on the chain is distributed to 14 teeth on the front sprocket, and to 48 teeth on the rear, so since wear is directly proportional to the force applied, the front sprocket will wear out more than three times faster than the rear. In less than 100 miles the chain on my Sur Ron has stretched close to its limit, and the front sprocket is following suit; I have already got a 60T rear sprocket and chain, but cannot find a front sprocket.

Sure but it might not be unreasonable to assume the rear cog being exposed as it is would be more likely to get significant grit in it than the front, which would also contribute to wear. Not really productive to argue the point though, if you want to inquire about special ordering that part please contact support.

I just visited the Luna site and couldn't find any reference to Luna's hot rod controller for the BBSHD motors. Are they not being offered anymore? I there someone else making controllers that fit inside the motor housing that increase the programmability and performance of the motor system?

Hot rod controller is not all that much different from stock it's just maxed out on the peak current and a couple other minor things. What you might be thinking of is ludicrous controller which is different and not really sold separately at this time

Hi, new to this forum, I have both a Sur Ron X and a XX and would love some insight on a couple questions:
      1. What is the power comparison between the X and XX in W? Is the X 4000w? What is the XX?
      2. I'm thinking about getting ChiBattery Gladiators for both bikes.
        1. Would there be a power increase to the X and if so how much?
        2. Would there be a power increase to the XX and if so how much? Any issues to use this battery with the modified controller that the XX ships with?
      Thank you!

Why does the X2/Z1 battery sleep when not mounted in the frame?

Why does it have the power switch as an intermediary to wake the BMS?

Is there a danger to the system if I mount a non Luna/ non stock E10/E22 battery that is awake all the time and does not sleep outside the frame? Is there a problem if the Aliexpress E10 battery does not respond to the frame mounted power button?

Is there a way to reprogram a bms to act like the Luna X2/Z1/Dengfu battery?

Will Luna sell the bms from the Luna X2/Z1 batteries? I’m happy to install a new bms if they’re available.

I wanted a backup battery (48v 17.5ah) and a less heavy version (48v 12.5ah) for shorter rides for my Z1. Neither Luna nor Dengfu sell the batteries so I went to Aliexpress. The Aliexpress batteries do not behave like the Luna versions. These batteries do not respond to the power switch on the Z1 frame and I do not want to fry anything.

Also, why won’t the forum allow us to search for two letter words? I cannot search for Z1 or X2 and it’s quite frustrating.

        Thanks!

Those are just basic safety measures. While not strictly necessary given how many millions of ebikes do not have them, battery casing manufacturers are finally starting to come to terms with the rare edge cases that might start a fire. Whether that's something causing partial disconnection and/or high resistance, or even user error doing something they shouldn't like dropping the battery into the ocean. You don't necessarily have to have idiot proof bikes, some popular bike companies even still use generic shark packs or even the practically ancient older designs like dolphin or bottle. Makes it cheaper but it's also not hard to find articles about those kinds of bikes catching fire, case in point this article is from last week https://www.curbed.com/2022/01/ebike...-stations.html

I am not really sure if a random aftermarket battery would play nice with the power button on the frame, as I think that interacts with the battery itself via the mount for the original pack. But you should be able to just splice into the power wiring that goes directly into the motor, if you wanted to. This is obviously theoretical and I am not guaranteeing anything though.

No most BMS are not programmable, especially not the kind you would find already built into a battery bought from aliexpress. We do not sell the BMS from that bike, sorry.

We can notify you once we have spare Z1 batteries available for purchase, if you like.

Yes the forum software has its drawbacks. It is possible to use google to search the forum though. For example if I wanted to search for the term z1 on this forum I would go to google and type site:electricbike.com/forum "z1"

        Hi!

I finished a built with a BBSHD but when accelerating quickly from (close to) standstill, using both the throttle and pedaling at the same time, there's one to a few loud clicks. It sounds like a skipping chain but the chain isn't skipping. I do feel a little bump through the cranks though when it clicks. After that (so after I gained speed) it runs smoothly, untill accelerating from low speed or standstill again.

Also when rolling the bike back slowly the cranks and chainring rattle a bit. When rolling back faster they rotate normally. This might be a separate issue though, and I think this is the clutch. I took the motor apart to inspect the clutch and inner gears, but couldn't find any damage. I did notice the clutch's 'prongs' didn't return all too easily, but don't know if that's normal when it's not installed. (I don't have any experience with this)
When swinging the cranks back they don't there's quite a bit of resistance so they don't continue rotating for that long. I compared with the BBS02 on my brother's bike, on there the cranks rotates way smoother.

The bike and parts have been standing still for about 3 years for various reasons before I could finish the build, but I don't know if that affects it. I used it once 2.5-3 years ago, but don't remember if there was a click. I do know it had the same issue with the rattling though.

I have a Nexus 3 (sg-3d55 I believe) on the bike with a Sturmey-Archer chain tensioner. The BBSHD and the complete drivetrain is new except for laying still for 3 years, and the motor's electronics being repaired once by the seller (the speed sensor had stopped working and there were some issues with the battery).

        Your help is greatly appreciated!

        Thanks in advance,

        Daniel

Today when I rode it there were no issues on the way to my destination, my on the way back a few hours later it was fine for a few hundred meters, then suddenly it started clicking again heavily.

I decided to try if the issue would persist in PAS 0 and also not using throttle, just pedaling hard while standing (it was also against hard wind), and it still clicked (a little less loud but the same click). Now I did notice that it skipped a little bit, but I still don't think it was the chain skipping (definitely not in the front at least). I haven't had the time yet to install the new sprocket and chain but will probably do that today.

I installed the new chain and sprocket two days ago (KMC e101 EPT and KMC 16T 1/8" sprocket).
I noticed the sprocket had quite some play to it; turns out it was missing the waterproofing cap...

I rode it for about 50km (four commutes, two times back and forth with a few hours in between), and it only 'clicked' a few times.

I think the chain might just be skipping on the rear sprocket, but don't know how it could with the new chain and sprocket, and the sprocket having zero play now. The chainline also isn't bad I think. I'll upload some pictures of the drivetrain later today.

I'll try with another rear wheel and a derailleur sometime this week when I find the time to.

I rode it for a few more commutes, and it's still way better then with the old chain and sprocket, so I'm pretty sure it's the chain skipping in the back. The chain tensioner didn't give a lot of chain wrap, so decided to look at the specs. Apparently it's compatible with 18t-25t, so 16t is too low, hence why it didn't get a lot of chain wrap and I think that's causing it to skip. I installed an old short-cage campagnolo derailleur on it as chain tensioner (was able to use the 1/8" chain using some spacers on one side). Now it grabs on to one or two more teeth. I didn't ride it yet but am pretty convinced that it'll solve the issue. I'll report back after I rode it a few times or if the issue persists.

I tried cleaning my Luna advanced charger (52V 300W) with compressed air, but accidentally broke one of the fins on the fan...

Do you think this'll cause any issues or should I be fine with one fin less?

Also, is it possible to replace the fan? I did see some sealant / adhesive on the fan connector, but wasn't able to get the side of the charger out far enough to be able to reach the connector and try to disconnect it.
Could you please send me a video of how to take the side off of the charger where the fan is mounted? Then I can at least try to glue the fin back in place. Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_20220209_173613.jpg Views:	0 Size:	1.47 MB ID:	147581

I never had any occasion to pull any .03 ones, sorry.
From what I understand we ideally would not want the rated current on the fan to be significantly higher than what the charger is spec'ed for. Our technician says it may work but may work poorly due to the buck converter running at max current and voltage fluctuations. I assume lower than the original rated one would be fine.

Hi I'm that tech Paxtana talked to.. yes so I don't think any of the mentioned fan will create problems, I doubt that the factory use different 12v sources from a charger revision to another, I would just slap any 50x50x10mm 12V fan I would find if I were you. I bet the charger can power 0.10A fan just fine... so anything between that 0.08A to 0.03A should be alright.

          Ok thanks a lot!

I think I'll go with the one from Reichelt. I actually found that there's three different "specification for approvals" of the exact same model fan. All specs on them are the same except for the rated current and rated power consumption, with the maximum power consumption of all being 0.48W. I think that they must all be the exact same fan but suspect they just rated it at different currents. One of them lists "28mA / Max. 37mA" for rated current and "0.34 WATTS / Max. 0.45 WATTS" for rated power consumption. That would be exactly what I need.

It might be that there's different sub-models but strongly doubt it because all the other specs are exactly the same, with them all having the same label with "0.48W" printed on it.

Does anyone know the spec for the throttle voltage on a x260?

Hello - I'm using the Bafang BBS02 with the Luna controller and wolf pack battery. Haven't used the system in about a month. Today, the controller comes on and shows full charge, and the motor engages (i.e., the chainring spins), but there is zero (or very little) power supplied by the motor. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

Low power could be a couple things. Typically during colder winter months it is just due to the cold, as noted in our knowledge base:
            Lower power output during winter:
All lithium batteries have greater voltage sag if subjected to very cold temps.
If storing your bike in the cold weather during winter you are going to have less power output because the voltage sag.
If using in snow maybe insulate the pack, and try to store pack indoors.

If the battery was not cold and it was charged up, then you may be looking at either a high resistance connection (i.e. the battery connector is not fully plugged into the battery, maybe a phase wire is partially unplugged etc) or in rare instances could be the core is partially burnt up (this is typical of cases where the user may have been lugging the motor or hauling heavy stuff with a bike trailer, that sort of thing)

paxtana I brought the battery inside to keep it warm for a few days, and also checked the voltage. The battery is fully charged. Plugging it back in, the display reads full power. Still no power from the throttle or from pedaling. Definitely no untoward behavior on the bike (or heavy hauling)! Just hadn't ridden it in a month or two (it was working fine before). Any other advice on how to chase this down? Thank you.

May want to remove the core, see if the windings are partially smoked or any weird smell. Not that you would necessarily know for sure if the burnt part is not somewhere easily visible but still checking it beats throwing parts at it without having a firmer idea of the cause. Worst case you are probably looking at replacing either the controller or core assuming the other stuff mentioned has been checked. You could also email support and run this by our technician Seb if you would like to double check for any further suggestions.

Oh, also if you do pull the core it may be worth at least trying to unplug all the controller connectors and plugging them in again first. In theory a partially unplugged phase connector might cause it to still run but slowly.

HI, IS HIMO Z16 WILL COMPATIBLE WITH KT CONTROLLER AND DISPLAY?
