    KHS 3000 w/Ludi controller:

I put my bike upside down w/ handlebars on a foam pad to change the chain-ring and chain. When done I moved the bike and the wheel spun really fast and I quickly unplugged the battery.
Since then my throttle does not work (switched to a different throttle same results). Took it for a ride and the PAS is incorrect. I re-flashed the controller with Ludi limitless /my profile (riding in-between) and responded w/similar results.
    PAS 1&2 24-25 watts Pas 3 250 watts PAS 4&5 500-600 watts output.

    Any Ideas?

Odd. Seems like the most straightforward approach would be to just keep swapping over other parts until you find the culprit. You already tried a throttle, only things left are harness, display and controller. I would probably start with harness since it is cheap, but tbh I would suspect the controller

So I am taking my Luna Banana out the basement after a few years.....

I have the charger but it is missing an "adapter" from what a remember to connect it to the battery . I am attaching two pic:

Where can I get an "adapter"??? and in the probable case I need a whole new battery, would this be compatible? LINK

That appears to be the original xlr type, fairly rare these days. Does battery turn on and function still? If not and it has been sitting dead for years then getting an adapter is probably not going to help.

While you can likely find xlr pigtail connectors to cut off the original barrel and hardwire to the charger, this battery is so old I doubt you would find an actual female barrel to full size xlr adapter.

As to the link yes it would probably work, but keep in mind that one is 48v not 52v so top speed might be reduced, also the max discharge on the bms is a bit low, would work fine if it is a stock motor but if it has ludicrous you might want something bit higher.

While riding my BBSHD equipped e-bike today, suddenly the motor started to screech horribly, comparable to a tire rubbing against the fender at high speeds.
Before it happened I had to slow down to walking speed for some pedestrians, then started back up again, with likely too much torque, and around 20-50 meters after there's a corner that slopes down a bit, making the bike take a small hit at high speed, and soon as I was around that corner (still going at a high speed), it broke down. I immediately stopped to check if my tire fell off or something, but that wasn't the case. When trying to start again I noticed that the chainring wasn't even turning anymore. As soon as there's torque from the motor it'll make the screeching noise. With the motor off I can pedal normally.

I don't know if it's because of the corner or just wear over time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter as I've been using it full throttle most of the time, with 15t in the back and 46 in the front, and I've driven around 2500km-3000km (~1550 - ~1850 miles).

I assume this is the Nylon gear? Or could it also be one of the other gears (or something else)?

Yeah apparently I was wrong and it still is. (High Voltage on YouTube said it was going out of production, but 2 months later he posted a vid saying it's still in production and looks like it's still going to be for a while)

Stock looks kinda low though, a lot of places are sold out. And prices are higher but then again a lot of stuff has gotten more expensive lately.

Anyone remember what the base Luna HD kit prices have been historically? Seems like the lowest I remember was maybe $599 in 18? +$70 over 4+ years doesn't seem bad especially considering the last couple years when things like shipping have had like a 250% price increase. I hadn't looked for a while and was afraid it was gonna be like $800 for the base kit.

Idk about the prices at Luna, I haven't ordered much there as I'd have to pay taxes and base price is already way more expensive than most places.

Back in January 2019 I ordered the BBSHD for €500 from Em3ev. Would've been cheaper on AliExpress. It's also different calculating with Euro though, as €500 was $575 back then, whereas now it's just $502. Now the same order would be €625. (Excluding shipment, that's why I'm probably going to purchase on AliExpress this time)

I understand there are two different styles of the nylon gear for the BBHSD. I have over 5,000 miles on mine and I'd like to have the correct gear on hand before I need it but currently no issues. How do I tell which gear I need without opening up my drive? I bought the drive from Luna with the order #83938. Can that be used to determine what gear is in my BBHSD?

My best understanding for BBSHD is that there are three styles of "nylon" gear - likely better to refer to it as the "primary reduction gear with integrated clutch" or something since they are made from different materials - nylon, steel and PEEK (polyether ether ketone) however they are all interchangeable

83938 - was that purchase roughly August 2019? Regardless, I think that's before the PEEK version gear for the BBSHD was announced and AFAIK, Luna hasn't offered a version of the BBSHD with the PEEK gear preinstalled.

Most likely you have the stock nylon gear - which if treated nicely heat-wise holds up fine.

August 2019 sounds correct. I have no problems with the Nylon gear. It is holding up well. I was just hoping to identify which style I have and put a spare on the shelf before I have issues.

Hi there. The Surron is certainly more water resistant than the average ebike. Internally mounted battery, high quality connectors that have gaskets and such on them, thick heatshrink on all wiring, potted controller, etc. Like any electric bike you should avoid submerging it or getting saltwater on it but rain or mud is unlikely to affect it.

Replacement Spider for Luna Fat BABE

I need a purchase a replacement spider for the Luna Fat BABE, the chainring bolt holes are mushroomed from hitting the throttle too hard in too high a gear. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a spider that will fit the M600 splines AND have the correct chain line for the fat bike. It has markings reading Lasco J05 A01, but I can't find anything with that search term.
As far as I can tell, there is a specialized spline arrangement on the inside for the bafang M600, its a 104BCD Spider, and it needs to be a 65 mm chainline.

Is this something Luna stocks or can get ahold of? I literally can't find anything online for an M600 Fatbike. Plenty of entries on Aliexpress for regular spacing on an M600, but nothing for a fatbike that I could find.

I do not know the specific date the decision was made to not get more but it was around then, possibly even prior to selling the last units.

I'm betting the crappy sturmey archer 5 speed played a factor in that decision. It really couldn't handle the power output from an m600 even when babying it.

I bought this bike for my dad who gets a little throttle happy, and he killed the sturmey archer almost immediately. I ended up building a new wheel with a rohloff fatbike hub and its been rock solid for him until he slipped up and went full throttle from a stop in a high gear, this time the interface between the chainring and the spider was the weak link and the shoulders the chainring bolts sit on gave way, followed by the chainring cracking as it was getting sideloaded once it wasn't solidly joined to the spider.

I would say the IGH was the sole reason for the decision. We were not the only company to base an electric fatbike off this IGH either. It did not end well for any of them.

There is just no decent IGH for fatbikes that can actually take high power without insane Rohloff pricing.

Which model Maxxis Minion tires come on the X2? Are they tubeless ready?

My team works remote, if you had the bike on hand it would be faster for you to read the info on the side of the tire, we usually have to ask our mechanic and then add the info to our knowledge base. Either way I was told by our mechanic that this bike is not tubeless ready, so guessing even if the tires are the rim is not. I would love to be proven wrong on that though if you are going to give it a try

I didn't have the bike when I asked the question, but I had already ordered it. Now that I have the bike delivered I can answer the question. I'm sure your team means well, but the "I'm remote" excuse would not be acceptable if this was my company. Sounds like you should make a point of demanding that your CEO equips your support team with the knowledge necessary to do your jobs.

Brand new X2 - charged battery - first time power on and received Error 30. I double and tripple checked the connections to the display. Everything is tight. Now sure where to go from here.

I was able to resolve this following the M600 troubleshooting video's. The problem was a loose connection at the motor.

M600 won't power up after silent gears installed

If it powered up but didn't actually provide drive it would be the gear is upside down. If it won't even turn on its just about got to be a wire got damaged during the gear change.

The article describes the value of the "limitless" profile. Can anyone point me to a description or images of the "limitless" profile settings for my 750 Watt BBS 02 BaFang mid drive. Thank you

The profile is bundled with our config software, click load and select bbs02 limitless, it will populate all the fields with those values

FWIW limitless usually just means setting all the speed limits in the profile to 100% so the controller is never chasing speeds - once I went this way have never looked back... it's far more efficient and "natural" IMO

I'm down in Chandler right on the western canal.. let me know if you make it this way...

Awhile back I bought a luna Black box , I recently tried to reprogram reprogram the max amps from 28 amps to 30 amps but all I got was a error message . If I bought a new controller from Luna cycles would it fix this ?

It very likely would. Luna controllers have a firmware with 30a limit typically.
Alternately there's an open source firmware for bbshd that came out little while ago if you want to give that a shot. Doesn't look easy though.

Hello. I finally snapped the chain on my Z1. Which replacement chain do I need? Thank you!

KMC e12 would be a good choice.

I just went through programming my Z1 and a test ride. Everything is working great! The Frey smooth tune settings are very nice, I’d like to change some more settings but now once I connect to the motor and read flash for the first time, the read and write buttons grey out and I cannot write any new changes. I saw someone with the same problem on the EBR forum just recently but no one responded there. I’ve tried a new download of the tool, different usb ports, and a different PC, the buttons still grey out after the first Read and I cannot write anything new.
        Has anyone else experienced this?
