The DPC-18 doesn't fit my handlebars (holes too big). This is weird because the thumb throttle has obviously much smaller holes than the DPC-18. It seems that even if I have a strangely sized handlebar that these devices are not meant to be used on the same handlebar. Lol

http://www.xtremetape.com/ Or rubberized tape like this makes great invisible spacers under the display. It's a little ghetto but I use it all the time for this and to wrap and hide wire and to waterproof connections.

Any advice on a tire change/inner tube for the apocalypse scooter. I've watched the video ( 50x)and am not new to tire changes but I've popped the inner tube 8 times now trying to install them and now also have a broken bead on my brand new tires. (using motorcycle spoons and taking my time). Tricks n tips I missed?

Honestly, best tip would be to pay a bike shop to do it for you. It would be money well spent to avoid having to fight with the wheel getting the tire back on there.

Yes, this is possible. I've seen a picture of somebody doing the same thing one time. They had it glued in all ghetto-like but it worked.

EDIT: Soldering experience is obviously required. And a little simple basic knowledge of wiring.

Please see the image below, courtesy of another forum member who posted his mod. Ideally go with the XT60 female instead of male. You can get nice little caps for the xt60 female. Also make sure to fill in the edges with silicone so it's still water resistant.

You'd need to measure it. See this link:

You want a tape measure, ruler or calipers and to measure in millimeters. The number of mm for the diameter is your M size, for example the throttle bolt is probably about 3mm across so that would be an M3 bolt. Assuming it's 15mm as shown in the measurement pic, that would be an M3 x 15mm bolt. Then you can take that info to hardware store, ebay or wherever and pick out the one you need.

My understanding is that the DPC18 has the highest waterproof rating.

Are you using 52V? If you are, and want an accurate voltage reading on your display, that may influence your decision.

Gearsensor is a great option, makes shifting much nicer. BBS02B is just the latest revision BBS02. All our BBS02 are this version B.

Probably mostly a factor of your visual preference (horizontal vs vertical, stealth, etc), cost, and little eccentricities (the 750C clock doesn't really work, etc). If waterproof is really important, that may lead you towards DPC 18.

I bought a Giant roam 2 with the ludicrous controller and the 52v24ah battery from you guys in may, i got no problems with the bike and still enjoying it. i just noticed that there is a new BAFANG Ultra motor , if i upgraded to that motor would it be a big performance increase with acceleration and top speed . The bbshd with the 50amp controller is powerful but i am always looking for more power on every vehicle or bike i own lol

You won't be able to upgrade because the Bafang Ultra requires a special bike frame and doesn't share the same installation shaft as the BBSHD/02. Plus they're practically the same motor internally except the Ultra has a torque sensor. So you're not missing much unless you really need that feature, but you'll still need a unique frame to fit it.

Thanks for the ino. Yeah i dont really care much about the torque sensor , probably not worth it to me. You think i could squeeze more pickup and top speed out of it threw programming , i still have it set the way luna ships out the ludicrous controller . I havnt messed with it at all yet, i was thinking maybe they already have it to the max it can safely handle. Right now i can hit 32 mph with just the motor and 37 to 40 mph pedaling and throttling . I would love to get it to do 40 throttle only

Top speed is mainly locked to the type of chainring you use & the voltage of your battery. 40 throttle only might be pushing it a little for the BBSxx units. Even if you used a large chainring, you'll probably stress the motor out hard from constantly trying to hit those speeds. Unless you're careful with shifting and okay with potentially blowing the controller. It's up to you.

I am wondering if I could get any information on how LunaCycle modifies the Ammo box for battery charging. I get making a small hole for the battery charger. When you write that there are just enough vents for a lithium fire, does that just mean a few more holes have been drilled so the potential pressure could escape. Thinking of making on myself. Just ordered the BBSO2 kit and I'm looking forward to building my first Ebike. Thanks

I just bought a bbs02 ver. b controller from luna and I was wondering what the low voltage cutoff is programmed at. Also when I find my cable I was wondering how low I can set it to safety? My battery is 48v 13s 8p and each cell is 2500mah non protected with low voltage of 2.5 v. My bms died and between the controller programming, me monitoring the display voltage etc and a very good charger id rather do without another bms issue 20 miles away from home.

I think default lvc is 41 or 42. Lowest you can set is around 38 iirc. The firmware will reject any setting lower than that.

If you are going without a BMS I hope you have retrofitted with cell loggers that have a low voltage alarm.. Otherwise you may run risk of catastrophic failure

I'm really green when it comes to bikes. How do I know what sprocket size to get for a e-bike conversion? Is there a most common size? I'll be using the ebike primarily for hunting.

Start with the stock chainring and see how straight your chain line is. Rings smaller than 42 teeth have less offset and potentially poor (angled) chainlines, which can cause you to lose your chain when in a low gear. Fat bikes tolerate the smaller chainrings which are great for climbing and offroad if you are not interested in speed. That said, a 42 tooth chainring and a good granny gear can climb most stuff that a sane person would ride. I wouldn't go bigger than 42 unless you are an the road looking for speed.

I completely agree with Peter. Odds are you want 42t like a lekkie or eclipse. You could go smaller but might need to do extra modifications. Tell you what, check out the manual we wrote for prebuilt bikes, the modification section. We wrote for the bikes we build but it still applies.

But there is no way to set the max speed and wheel size.
Its fixed on 25kmh an 28 inch wheel.

This options are under Information and its gray, so i cant change it.

I use a bbs02 750w engine.
Any idea? Can i unlock it?

Go to display settings not information then scroll to wheel size or max speed then press the I button once. Then use the + or - buttons to change the value and finally press the I button again to save your settings.

I have a 500 with a BBS-HD 750W motor. The other day I was out pedaling and the motor quit on me. I have the 750 display and received no error code. All wiring is intact and the battery has a full charge. Do I have a bad motor or is this a connection issue?

If the bike wont push backwards easily the nylon drive gear is bad

Yeah it really depends on what is meant by the motor quitting. If the nylon gear is stripped it would still turn on. If it does not power on I would suspect something electrical.
