Recently blew my charger port- there was a spark and now the battery won't charge! Still discharges fine (powers the ebike). Is there a fuse for the charger port on a 48v Dolphin Battery 13.5ah? What kind of fuse is it?

More background: I went through the trouble-shooting on the Luna Cycle forum. The charger is perfectly fine. All cells on the BMS have equal voltage. Unplugging the BMS for a while did not fix my problem. The battery, when hooked up to the standard $30 lithium battery charger, does not charge. The charger's fan doesn't come on and the light doesn't turn red. I can verify, via multimeter, that the battery is not at a full charge. Please help!

First thing you want to do is address why there was a spark. This includes visually inspecting both the port and the barrel on the charger.

After this you want to test the charger and the charge port. These methods are shown on this page
This guide covers 3 related topics: Charger issues, battery issues and miscellaneous testing procedures. Highly advisable to read each section fully to help understand how your ebike works and basics of troubleshooting. Post #1 focuses on chargers, Post 2 and 3 are about battery, Post#4 is about misc questions and answers as

The easiest thing would be to replace the charger first or at least replace the barrel using our solderless barrel bolted onto the end of it. That way if there is any carbon buildup from the spark or it sparked because of some loose metal within the barrel, both of these issues would be resolved.

If on the other hand, the issue is on the charge port itself then it's bit more tricky. You would want to bypass the charge port by opening up the battery and charging directly to the wiring that goes to that charge port to see if it takes to charge. If it does then you know that it's just the charge port that needs replaced.

You might be able to visually determine which portion needs replaced based on the visual inspection. On the other hand if there is some issue with the BMS getting fried from the spark it's possible none of this will fix that and you need a new BMS. But that would be the last step you want to try since it would be a hassle

My charger port gives a huge spark if I connect it with the charger unplugged from the mains.

Having problems with SRAM DD3 Install. The "Shifting Pin" seams to be to short. When trying to screw the pin into the axle the pin goes all the way into the hole and does not contact anything to screw into. It just turns and turns and will not tighten.

At the end of the axle where you insert the "Shifting Pin" there is a Sram "Threaded Sleeve Long" screwed into the axle. This sleeve seams to make the "Shifting Pin" to short.

I may be mistaken but after some research it seams that there should be a shorter brass "Threaded Sleeve" screwed into the axle shown circled in red in the picture "Dual Drive Disassembled.

I do not believe we have anything like that but if you want to email support we could check. As far as I know we send this as it comes from the factory.

It looks like the factory shipped (11.3118.005.000 Shifting pin dual drive) and they should have shipped (11.3118.005.001 Shifting pin dual drive XL) with this hub. This part is not installed when shipped so the two could get easily mixed up. So I need the brass piece circled in red above or (11.3118.005.001 Shifting pin dual drive XL) to get this hub working I think.

How much clearance is there between the top of the Bafang Ultra motor and the "cradle" you supply with it? The reason I'm asking is to determine the feasibility of cutting off the bottom bracket on my steel frame, welding a steel plate and bolting the motor to the plate.

Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking specifically for the measurements on the bracket itself?

Hi I am looking at buying the Luna 2017 4 season 3000 black fat tire ebike KHS. When I am choosing my size of the bike and some different options is says Sorry, all Choose a Size and Finish options for this product are currently unavailable. I am just wondering when this will become available again?

Hopefully soon. We did just restock the deluxe fusion 500 which is the first KHS bike restocked using this year's model. We could notify you once 3000 is restocked if you want to send us your email address.

paxtana I have 2 BBSHD's. Iv'e been watching this thread, (and others) about 'HD's programming problems. I thought Luna cycle was the largest seller of Bafang mid drives in the US (World)? If Luna can't fix this problem(with Bafang) It opens up a market to other (programmers) to fix this problem. Eric, time for another trip to Bafang HQ's

If anyone believes they can fix it they are certainly welcome to give it a shot. As I understand it one of our competitors talked a big game about being able to change the firmware with regards to throttle priority but in the end they were also unable to do so and just swapped the controller with an older model. Which we also resorted to doing until we ran out of old controllers.

As I have said previously, Bafang does not guarantee throttle priority. We have brought it up to Bafang and it was our understanding that it was fixed but we still sometimes see reports about it. I do not believe Bafang thinks it is a big deal. They do have an email address if you would like to convince them otherwise.

Paxtana, I hope you understand, I meant no disrespect to you (or Eric...Luna) But these problems(programming) have stopped me from buying any more 'HD's. It's GREAT that you swapped out the controllers(for older ones). LUNA is still top's in my book.

Is there a way to activate braking re-gen on the Sur-ron ?

I don't believe this is a feature. Sorry. Usually only hub motors have the ability to do this

No.. That would require a hubmotor, which would be less efficient and less balanced.

      ok, thanks guys

I got one of your Xiongda 2-speed hub kits a while back and it took me all winter to get the bike ready to mount the kit. Now that I am getting it together I have a couple of questions about the controller connections. Is there any documentation available for this controller?

The bottle battery you supplied has Anderson Power Poles and I gather I should just cut off the two-prong plug from the controller and put on some Andersons. I just want to be sure before I cut it because there are no markings on it.

Speaking of which, there is a connector with three wires (red, yellow, green). What is this for?

    Thanks,

      Ok will do!

All doubletorque documentation is on the doubletorque KB https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...-gear-hubmotor

Yes you could put a matching anderson on the controller by cutting off the connector. The wires are color coded where you cut off the connector. Alternately you could put XT90 on both, or even hardwire it since the cradle is it's own connector and having another unecessarily complicates things.

I do not believe that other connector is used at this time.

I have a Yuba Mundo V4 with a BBSHD 52v 13.5ah shark battery. I am getting around 25 miles out of it with pedal assist levels 1 and a little 2 and very little throttle. My question is should I be charging it every night when I get home if there is still battery level on the display?

I have to connect it to the charger to get the battery voltage, wouldn't I? I have read those two links more than a few times.

The color displays such as the 750c and DPC-18 have the ability to read the voltage. If you have either of these displays, you can go into the settings and adjust it to show voltage. But if you have one of the non-color displays, you might be out of luck and will have to use a external meter like a Luna Watt Meter.

      Can I use the DPC-18 with a 52v battery?

        Yes. It's compatible with 48v-52v batteries :)

Hey Paxtana. I built a custom 29er frame with 135mm rear dropouts for the ultra max and ordered the ludicrous version from Luna. However I have a big chainring issue.
Please see attached pictures - is there a way to reduce the offset on the front chainring so the chain alignment is better ?

I think the issue is the Ultra max spider that connects to the chainring .. that offset is almost an inch or more.Is there a way or a custom part or a race face part that I can use to reduce the offset ?

SO close - and yet so far :(

      Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately Bafang doesn't accept single order requests. Those types of things need to be ordered in large batches so it would unlikely we would be able to fulfil this request for you.

Let's just wait until I hear back from the shop. I would assume we are working on something for use with our upcoming Apollo model that would provide different offset. I will get back to you

Thanks Paxtana. Yup the Apollo version will probably also need that version.
        Thanks again.

I have a 52very mini charger and it won't charge my battery. it just sits there and clicks.

Could need an adaptor fix, just email support@lunacycle.com with your Order # and possibly a video of the clicking in action for good measure :)

STORM HOT ROD 20 AMP CONTROLLER 36-52V

Do you need to change anything for this controller to work with either a 36 volt system or a 48 volt? LIke does it know when a 36 volt battery is hooked up vs when a 48 v battery is hooked up. I am asking because I have a sondors thin and it comes stock at 36 volts and I would like to upgrade to a 48 volt controller and battery but I would still like to be able to use the old 36 volt battery. Also it says in the description that if the throttle doesn't have an on off switch it might not be compatible, is there a throttle that is definitely compatible? I just don't want to buy all but one piece and not be able to use my bike for however long shipping is.

      Thanks in advance.
