Hello. I just installed the Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit on my mountain bike. It works great for about 15-30 seconds, but then the power and display go dead. If I turn it back on, the same thing happens again. Any thoughts on why this is happening? I haven’t hooked up the speedometer yet, but I don’t think that should matter. My friend has the same setup on two other bikes and never had this issue. Thanks for any help.

Hooking up the speed sensor did the trick. It’s working great. Thanks for the help!

      Glad to hear it Aaron!

My question about symmetry with a BBS02 occurs with either a 68 or 73 mm BB; the right crank arm is about 15 mm further from the chainstay than the left arm. I already ordered the Lekkie crank arms which AFAIK will resolve the situation. I wondered if anyone in "Support" had any knowledge of this discrepancy.

I am not aware of anything with regards to that. I suppose there's a possibility that you were accidentally sent an offset crank for one of the sides.

Here's a picture of my build with the Lekkie cranks. The left crank (none drive side) is offset a bit but makes no difference imo. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks all for your assistance. I must be OCD to see a mere 15 mm greater distance from crankarm to chainstay on one side vs the opposite.

I actually am OCD. When I built my bikes, I was concerned about my crank arms clearing my chainstays AND my chain not rubbing on my tire. I (barely) achieved this by using bottom bracket spacers, freewheel spacers (which for me are the same part), and flipping the spider. Once I had this necessary clearance, I didn't check to see if the pedals were equidistant from the frame. Rather, I rode the bike a lot and it rides fine so I'm good.

We don't have one for 60v with that featureset sorry.. you could always just go off of the voltage reading and unplug it when the voltage corresponds to the charge percentage you want it at. It's easy with a little practice.

QQ: Where does this go ? Both the wire and the magnet. On the BBSHD the speed sensor would be on the chainstays and the magnet was on the spokes.
Is that the same here ?

Thanks. And what are the pair of red&black wires with the blue tips / inserts for? Those are to the left of the speed sensor in the picture.

Loving my BBSHD I installed on my Surly Cross Check, order #31201. However, two days ago the display began switching uncontrollably to night mode, and the pedal assist buttons were not functional. Yesterday, the connector between the power switch and the display emitted smoke and the unit has stopped working.

After a search here on the forums, I have not found a similar problem. As I have been unable to submit a help ticket, and am certainly not an expert electrician, do you have recommendations on next steps?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Sounds like you need a new display at a minimum. Possibly also a harness and/or controller if the short messed with these other components.

Thanks very much. I will replace the display, hopefully just that will suffice.

Hi, Luna. Could you advise what 60-TOOTH SUR-RON SPROCKET is better to order -

Stainless Steel - Strongest OR AL 7075 - Lightest?

What is the difference in weight and should I expect any durability problem with AL 7075?

I couldn't be any tougher on my bikes, and I have always used aluminum chain rings. I have never had a problem.

          Hi y’all,

Was wondering what people used to help prevent flats. Slime? Tire liners? Anything you guys would recommend would be appreciated.

          peace

Personally I don't use protection besides a nice thick tire. But I do tend to take a can of compressed flat fixer with me. If I use it the tube is ruined but that's okay as long as it gets me home where I can replace it properly. Just yesterday I heard on the ebikes subreddit some folks were using this neat fix called Gaadi tube, you just throw it in there and air it up, seems like another good way to address things after the fact. https://gaadi.de/?lang=en As far as actually preventing the flat anything you do will add rolling resistance, which can be annoying in its own way.

AZguy you ever run through some Cholla with those? Man I hate that stuff.

Jumping cholla may lack in thorn size but it makes up for it in quantity and it's propensity for those little barbs to grab anything and work their way deeper. I've gone through patches of cholla (carefully avoiding any of my body parts getting anywhere near!!!) with the stans'ed tires and the ground around the patched of them is just littered with bunches of prickers and they are no issue whatsoever... at least for the stans'ed up tires. Me - I've been tagged too many times to count and had one really bad "dancing with chollas" encounter out on the moto - even though I had 1cm armor plenty made it through and it took at least forty five minutes to get maybe 80% of them out. I have had dogs get into them which is a royal pain because once the get their paws full of them they then usually lay down in them and then you have to carry them out to where it's clear and go through the tedious process of yanking them out which will inevitably end up with getting a bunch of them in yourself and those little barbs break off and just work their way deeper until you get a little pustule that pushes them out.

I don't get into too many of the big barrel cactus thorns or the monstrous tree thorns or the bougainvilleas... but even though they are often 1/10" - 1/8" it's no worries. Sometimes I'll pull them out when it's on the stand and just hold a paper towel over the hissing hole to catch the stans while rotating the hole downward and they seal in a second or two... amazing stuff....

Omg those poor puppers, that sounds like a nightmare. I lived in the mountains on the edge of the valley for a while where there's no paved roads or fences and all the free-roaming neighborhood dogs knew to steer well clear of cholla. Never occurred to me what would happen if they didn't know any better.

I use a liquid product called Tuf-Foot for my dog when we're doing stuff hard on her pads but I have no doubt cholla would still manage to hook on somehow, I swear that stuff has a mind of its own like you could not design a more hostile plant if you tried lol

Singulus; I was at Sea Otter and several companies had foam inserts for tires that were purported to allow lower tire pressures, provide rim protection, have some added suspension characteristics and one, Vittoria, looked substantial enough to be run flat. Expensive, but you might look into them.

Two questions; are you going to restock the "Luna-version" mini-cyclone and do you have a weight for your carbon saddle?

Probably not, it was based off of a Kelley controller which we stopped carrying in favor of ASI. Maybe we might make a 2.0 version with ASI at some point but I'm not informed on unreleased products so can't say for sure.

I don't think we have the weight for the saddle but if you email sales@lunacycle.com we will have someone check on that and get back to you (and add it to the listing)

            HI

Yes, barely. Go for the ziptie version, it's a bit larger.

Wanted to buy a mighty mini battery today. Are they just out of stock or..?
