    MAC Geared hub kit questions
hello, does the new MAC kit come with a PAS sensor, support for PAS?
does it support brake cutoff like the HWBS?
Does the ASI BAC 800 controller support Bluetooth for programming/monitoring?
Does the kit use waterproof connectors?
Does the ASI BAC 800!work with any of your displays?
    Thank you!

Like most hubmotor kits it is throttle only.
No ebrakes or bluetooth, the controller is sinewave, we do not support reprogramming it due to the difficulty thought this is technically possible.
It uses standard off the shelf components for connectors. This makes it easier to do troubleshooting with a multimeter and helps keep costs down. For waterproofing we recommend a small dab of dielectric grease on the connectors as described in our waterproofing documentation.
The Batt-Man can be used with this kit for use as a display and is an option on the listing. It shows fuel remaining, power consumption, speed etc. Here is a more comprehensive rundown on it https://lunacycle.com/gauges/batt-ma...ur-fuel-gauge/

hey i see that luna cycle offers custom cut spokes. i am wondering if they will
be threaded as well or only cut to desired length.

They are threaded and fully usable as any other spoke.

Are there any issues/precautions with using a fully charged 72V softpack (~84V) with the stock 40A controller that comes with the Cyclone 3000W kit? I saw that the Luna site says that the 72V softpacks are on the edge of what the stock controller can handle. I plan to normally charge the battery to 80% and keep my current draw at or below 30A continuous (with some 35-40A peaks), but want to know how careful I have to be with an occasional 100% charge for balancing purposes. Thanks.

The stock controller can handle 72v nominal batteries. A 72v nominal pack fully charged is indeed around 84, which is fine. We just list minimums and maximums in terms of nominal as this is easier to understand.

I have a Luna 36v charger that I would like to use to charge my 36v battery from a Focus Adventura S1.0. The battery uses a 4 pin charging connection. The output area has 5 positions as noted in the pictures. Any insight would be appreciated. thx mark

If you have the original charger you can use the original plug from that. But you would want to probe that port to determine polarity before wiring it up...

It looks like there is a third wire (white) coming out the the battery into the charge port. Perhaps a temperature probe feedback? I suspect it goes into the BMS. I guess I might need to rewire to go directly into the battery bank. Still wondering what the five output positions are all about.

These are kind of the common issues associated with trying to get a proprietary battery to work with a non-proprietary charger. You'd probably be better off just using a different non-proprietary battery instead.

so I got the 52v Luna mini charger, it seems to shut down at 58.87 volts when charging to 100%. Is this ok?

probably not that great, its a cheap harbor freight item, Im sure its nothing to worry about if High and Pax say its ok.

It can be off by a bit or so. It's not a huge deal. I wouldn't recommend storing it at that capacity for safety reasons but as long as you bleed that extra energy out immediately after charge. I doubt there will be an issues.

And like AZ said, it could just be the reading being off. It's not a big enough increase to warrant any alarm :P

gotcha, i ride it daily and only charge to full once a week or so for longevity. I never let the pack sit for longer than 2 hours after a balance charge and only store it ~90%max overnight.

I'm seeing that I can add the Luna Wolf battery (30Q cells) in either Naked or SS Plated, to my cart. Does that mean that I can purchase it now? If so, what would be the lead time for either of those finishes?
I have previously purchased two kits, a BBS02 and a BBSHD. Thanks, Mike (mpeacock1@ec.rr.com)

      That's good news, thanks.
      Two other questions:
I'm leaning toward the naked finish, but if I decided I wanted to be stealthy, could I buy a black skin to fit it? (Ideally easily removable)
Could I buy two extra frame magnets, so that I could easily swap it from one bike to another?

We can work out price on extra magnets if you email support, sure.

I would like to know if the 60 Amp. 36-72 volt blue tooth programmable controller ($99.95) is compatable for a Daymak Rickshaw King mobility scooter. If so, are there any delays in the controller when the throttle is activated from a dead stop or when it is moving.(the throttle is turned off and then back on). The motor is 800 watts.

This controller is out of stock and not available for purchase I believe. It won't be Plug N Play if that's what you're asking. I don't think this is the correct type of controller you want. I would just ask the manufacture of the Scooter for their recommendations on a replacement charger or upgraded charger. You'll probably have better luck than trying to get a Cyclone controller to work

Although others can chime in here on their opinion since I'm not very well experienced with the Cyclone controllers.

I accidentally ordered a 52 volt charger for my 48 Volt Shark battery. Before I realized the issue, I successfully charged the battery. Is this a safe situation or should I return the charger for the 48 volt model?

Did you order the charger in the same order as the battery? If so there is a good chance shipping will have seen the incompatibility and substituted the correct one. Check the label to see what charger type it is.

If it is indeed the wrong charger then no it is not a safe situation, you need the correct charger.

I bought the battery and standard charger last Fall and bought the higher end charger as an upgrade. My mistake - I will return it and use the other charger for now. Thanks! Ron

Hi, I've been enjoying an installed bbshd kit you sold me a year back. I'm considering getting one of your ready made bikes. I like the looks of the roam fusion, but I'm wondering if it's possible to have a raised stem installed. Due to an arm injury I'm able to ride upright, but unable to ride sitting too forward with weight on arms. If the fusion stem/bars can't be raised, due to cabling and so on, are one of your other nice bikes available for upright riding? on edit, I'm willing to do install myself if the system cable & brake cables allow. thanks

Glad to hear you are enjoying the kit! Yes it is possible to do this modification for raised stem or even swept back cruiser handlebars. This is outside the scope of what we can offer as far as the build but the modification itself would be as easy as on any other bicycle. If any cabling needs extended we sell extensions for every connector and wire in the BBSHD parts section on the site.

I am looking at purchasing a used bike this week. I have it narrowed down to three bikes. The plan is to ride out this year on the bike as is, and then upgrade either later this summer or next spring with a BBSHD. The bikes are:

    1) 2017 DS 3 (asking $400, down to $300)
    https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/b.../ds-3/p/17205/

    2) 2013 DS 8.4 (asking $400)

    https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/Sear...50&model=71672

    3) 2003 Giant AC2 (asking $350 firm)
    https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/d/...575181256.html

First question...will the BBSHD fit and work fine on all these bikes?

I listed the bikes in my choice order based on what is available in my price range and local market. My top pick is the 2017 DS 3 only because it is a steal of a price. It's last years model, with super low miles, and the guy just wants to dump it for fast cash of $300. He bought with receipt in hand for $800. It seems to have great online reviews. I can upgrade components as time goes on and even get a second wheel set for off road to onroad.

When I compare this to the DS 8.4 specs...they look so similiar of bikes from what I can tell that it would be silly for me to "not" get the 2017 at the price point.

The Giant is the only full suspension bike out of the three and the only descent one I can find in my price range. The only reason I have included it is because others have spoken about the value in having full suspension for the BBSHD or I have heard others that did not get full suspension how they wish they had. True? Thoughts on this?

I do about 60/40 riding, in late 40's, primary transportation also. I put on A LOT OF MILES a year, majority of them bike paths and road. As I continue to upgrade whatever bike I get, it will be tailored to be a primary transportation that I can go shopping with, get around town constantly, get off road and see the sites, and adapt to my needs as I age since this is my only transportation that I use year round.

With all that said, from your technical eyes and experience, do you have any recommendations on which bike I should choose, or things to consider with these bikes and what I am looking to do? If it was up to you, and "YOU" had to pick one of these three bikes, which one would you choose?

    Thanks!

You can buy countersunk neodymium magnets of the right size at many magnet shops for very low price, like this one - https://www.umagnets.com/p/disc-coun...nickel-plated/.

BTW my naked wolf came with a black plastic cover as well.

I just built up my BBSHD kit and took it for a test ride. Everything appears to work except the universal thumb throttle. It behaves like an On-Off switch. Even in my lowest gear I lurch forward when I gently press the throttle and accelerate quickly to 20 mph. Is there something I can do to make a gentler start and a range of throttle wattage?

Got to ask, if I completely bypass the display (as on my 2 BBSHD'S) does this problem go away? I've always run all of my motors without displays, PAS, gear sensors, EBrakes, ETC...

No, it's a controller issue and not a display issue.

What high voltage is referring to is only attempting to use throttle at exact same time as pas. If this is not what you are referring to Giraffe, then it's a separate issue and likely has to do with programming which can be changed.

Thanks, HIGHVOLTAGE. Can the controllers be reprogrammed like I've done with my other 2? If not, guess I'm done with BBSXX's.

Unfortunately not. It's not really a programming issue.
