DIscharge (XT90) contacts read 53.4 on both side of discharge ports.. I also tried with xt60 charging ports results are the same 53.2 on both side of charging connector. Should I take it apart and try to reset BMS myself?

Not that I am aware of.

To improve my chain-line, Could the item in the picture (contains a part that came with my BBSHD kit from Luna Cycles) be placed between the motor and the bottom bracket on the chainring side?

If you mean use as a spacer for the motor. Yes. That's what it was made for.

I have a 27.5 bike and DPC-18 display which only has settings for 27 and 28 inches. Which would be more accurate for my 27.5 x 2.0 tires?

Try both and test against a GPS speedo app on your phone, there's a bunch of free ones for Android and iPhone.

If I had to guess 28 would be closer. Maybe depends on your tire pressure though.

Would love to know your results after you give it a shot..

I finally did this test. The speedo reads about .5mph slower than GPS in the 27-inch setting so I'm sticking with that.

Have a Surface604 Rook that I'd like to upgrade. What parts are interchangeable from Luna? (Battery?, Controller? LCD Display?). Would I be able to override the 20mph limit with 28mph since I live in a state that allow class 3?

Unfortunately we don't have experience with all types of bikes, especially proprietary pre-built ones. Luna doesn't really offer those kind of upgrades. You'd be much better off getting a normal base bike and just building off of it instead. It will be cheaper and less frustrating in the long run.

I'm building my first ebike with a BBS02 and a beach cruiser with an 8 speed Nexus gear hub. I rode it for the first time last night and it's a hoot! Feels way too fast even on the lowest assist level. It occurs to me that I could gear it down so that the motor can take advantage of the gearing, but I'm not sure if that would increase or decrease the drain on the battery. I've heard that low gearing can cause damage to gear hubs. If that's the case am I better off leaving it geared high so the motor doesn't destroy my hub? There's a variety of cogs for shimano gear hubs from 16t to 23t. What gearing should I use to maximize my battery/component life? Also, what gearing chould I use if I wanted to achieve a landspeed record?

Gearing it down so that you have more torque decreases the drain on the battery without exception, since electric motors like to spin fast for the best efficiency and gearing it down would let it spin faster. Alternately you could reprogram the controller so that it has more of a soft start, there are many program profiles built into the configuration software allowing you to do this in one simple step. This would also be good for your IGH since the hardest part of putting power through the system is starting from a dead stop. So if it ramps up power a little more slowly from a dead stop then it would in theory be better for the IGH, there are settings in the controller to do this.

This is an introductory guide to using the programming cable and the Bafang Config Tool to change the options of the controller for your Bafang mid-drive motor, so we won't be going in-depth about any other tab but the Basic tab. If you own a Bafang mid-drive motor you may want to change a thing or two in the controller

If you wanted to go faster you would want a larger chainring and a smaller cog on the rear. But that's pretty hard on the motor, if it can't spin fast it will get hot, if enough heat builds up it could in theory burn out the motor, that's why you always want to be mindful of what gear you have it in. It's kind of similar to a manual transmission on a car in that respect.

      Hi
I just broke off the axle on my 100mm BBS01 250W (fatbike), is the 100mm BBSHD axle the same width as the regular BBS01/02 axle? This: https://lunacycle.com/bbshd-100-mm-mid-axle-assembly/

I've never heard of a 100mm BBS01 before? You sure you got that correct? Are you using some kind of extension?

I took some more pictures this time I hope they help out, I circled one where the area the chains pops off. I tried messing with it again today and still chain keeps coming off.

Looks pretty close..maybe tighten down the ziptie on the tensioner a bit so it is providing a bit more tension. And to sight directly down the it to see what is not aligned (if anything). These pics are at an angle rather than sighted straight down it but here's an example below. In this example the the tensioner needed to be moved several millimeters outbound.

You could lay a string across from the motor sprocket to the chainring sprocket and pull it tight, and it should be evenly touching all three sprockets: the one on the motor, the one on the tensioner and the one on the chainring.

Sorry I was in a hurry taking these pictures to leave for work. I'll take some better ones tomorrow (at work right now). Tensioner is already pretty tight but I can tighten the zip tie even more.

      Yes, its a 100mm BBS01 250W i bought on alibaba.com :) Probably an extention on a regular BBS01 with a custom axle.

Sorry that's not something we can advise on. We cannot support stuff bought from alibaba.

Not asking for support on the motor, just wanted to know if BBSHD and BBS01/02 axles are the same width/thickness before I order one.

Not something we can reliability answer for you unfortunately since we don't carry BBS01's and not something we have tested before.

I know the SurRon's are selling faster than you can get them in, but are you doing anything about getting the factory to manufacture them in "street-legal" mode including a VIN #?

VIN is a federally mandated thing for vehicles built for roads, this bike is off road only. It has a serial number and comes with a receipt proving where you got it from. That's not to say you can not use on the street as an ebike with the pedal kit and low power mode, but if using as a motorcycle this is not something Support is authorized to advise on.

However there was a recent discussion on it here that might interest you https://electricbike.com/forum/forum...d-registration

I recently got the BBS02 kit with Bafang C961 Display.
Get the Bafang BBS02 for only $525 and transform any bicycle into an electric beast. Do up to 30mph and use the gears of your bike to shift into low and climb big hills.

I have it hooked up to a bike with 12in wheels. With the default settings it was showing a speed of about 2x what I was actually going.
I used the advanced settings menu on the display (hold + and - and hit M 8 times) to set the wheel diameter to 12in, but it still shows a speed that is about 2 times what the actual speed is (GPS measured around 13MPH, but the display shows 30MPH).
I'm not sure what's going on. When I turn it off and on a few times and then check the wheel diameter setting is still says 12in but something still isn't right.

      Any ideas?

Interesting... The display interface lets you set wheel diameter all the way down to 9in (which doesn't appear to have much effect). I'm wondering if using the programming cable interface would make any difference.
Am I correct in assuming that all the actual processing is happening in the middrive itself, or does the display actually do the calculations for speed and limiting and such?

Programming won't make any difference unfortunately.

Are you sure about the programming interface not being different than the display? I was reading that through the programming interface you can set if you want the speed value from the display or the drive itself to be used to limit top speed. This implies there are 2 sets of variables being stored for some things. That makes it possible that setting the wheel diameter on the display is being ignored by the drive.
I'm only speculating on this since changing the wheel diameter on the display has no effect so it's like it's ignoring that setting.

My sur ron arrived today but there is something wrong with the bike.

      It only run 11km/h

Have someone any idea what it can be?

Hi, well did you charged the bike fully it can be stuck in limp mode? if it's fully charged then I recommend to get in touch with your supplier

looking for a good thread for troubleshooting a grinding noise in my BBSHD, can someone post the link? thinking im going to have to take motor apart but want to know what im looking for before i do that.

JP, how did your project end up? I am looking at doing a similar conversion on a bucksaw 2 and would love to hear how things went for you. - Thanks in advance - Steve
