    200mm Hub Motor

    Hello everyone!

    I have a Fat Bike that has 200mm drop outs. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a rear hub motor conversation kit for it.

    I don't want to go with mid drive for THIS project.

        QSmotor makes a hub but not sure about availability. Do you have a rim to lace it to?

              QS Motor sells a motor with a 200mm dropout, but it is not listed on the website. They have these assembled and ready to ship, I am 100% sure of it.

              Contact Robert at info@qs-motor.com. You can even choose your winding (varying degrees of torque and speed). The lower the number of turns (T on the chart), the higher the top speed. The choices in the middle will provide a balance of bottom end torque and top speed.

              I had mentioned in your other post to ask them about the total axle length to make sure that you have enough room for torque plates and full engagement of the threads on the axle nuts. I think that you will need 278mm total axle length for this; unfortunately, I believe that the off the shelf 200mm dropout motors will have an axle (Robert calls it a shaft) with a total axle length less than this. He can, however, make you a motor with a custom shaft length.

                Here are the specs of the QS Motor. You see that you will need a 36h rim. I use 13 gauge spokes. If you choose an 82mm wide rim, you will need a spoke length of 165mm for a single cross lacing pattern. Click image for larger version  Name:	data.PNG Views:	2 Size:	130.7 KB ID:	46454

                  Remember to request a temperature sensor!

                      Also Vladimir S. at Zelena Vozila, whose email address is epmpartner@yahoo.com, can make you a custom axle with 200mm dropouts and press it into a Cromotor for you. Choose 287mm for the total axle length and you will have plenty of room for your frame, torque plates, axle nuts and even axle spacers if need be.

                        A bit off topic but those spokes look bent at the nipple. Is there a degree spec at all?
                        I have never built a wheel before and in fact have the parts for an 11 speed alfine laying around collecting dust.

                          Yes, they are bent. That's how it goes with this wheel build because the motor has such a large diameter relative to the 26" rim. About 5000 miles and no issues yet.

                          I took these bare motors to two different wheel builders without specifying a lacing pattern, and they both came back with this single cross pattern as in the picture. I have been copying this lacing pattern ever since.
