Am building a Recumbent trike Delta style (two wheels in back, one in front) and weighing the options of hub motor or mid-drive.
This trike will have 4" x 26" fat tires in the rear mounted on two separate axles to aid in going around corners. two Independent axles avoid the dreaded rear tire hop when turning corners.
A front hub drive using a fat tire seems like the answer but this trike will not have any peddles. Just a steering wheel with throttle and brake pedal on the floor. Brakes are designed for an ATV using hydraulics instead of cables.
I am completing another trike, Tadpole style (two front wheels, one rear drive wheel) that has a mid-drive motor and it runs like a bat out of hell!! 14mph LOW, 37mph HIGH
looking for suggestions for the motor selection on the Delta trike.
