I noticed on the bike I am planning to use for a Bafang installation that the two shifter cables run along the lowest part of the frame - underneath the BB! In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmMtUVO5XZA the Luna guy says to push the motor up against the frame. The two cables are in the way. Does the motor go against the frame for aesthetic reasons, or for practical reasons? Will it be necessary to re-route the rear-shifter cable? [The other cable won't be needed after the install.]

I've never experienced any problem fitting BBSXX drives to several bikes with shift cables routed under the BB shell. Not to say it can't happen but I've never had a problem with the cable running to the rear. As you note, the front derailleur cable should be gone. More often I also route the wires through that same gap.
The motor itself may contact the downtube further up above the BB shell? If it's a problem with a cable, merely cut out a chunk of tire tread from an old tire or some heavy rubber to use as a spacer to better space the motor away from the frame 1/8"-1/4" or so.
