Hey all....recently ordered an X1 (pre-order) and can't wait to get it but in the mean time I was looking for info on the specific shock that is on the bike? I weigh about 225 pounds and was wanting to know what air pressure I should start at with the shock?

I'm 210lbs and find that 200psi in the rear shock gives me good traction and uses 90% of travel on rocky downhill runs. I have the compression dial set to 50%, be sure to get a shock pump that can handle the PSI. For the fork, I don't recall where I landed PSI wise, but again the compression and rebound adjustments are both at 50% and I find the dampening to be sufficient on gnarly rutted rocky trails. I had originally set the PSI so the sag on front and back suspension was 20% when I put all my weight on it, and I was getting beat up at 15-20mph over the rough stuff. I found 30% sag to provide better traction and improve controllability. I've only had my X1 for a few weeks, so there's probably others that have better advice ;) It's been an absolute blast... -
Thanks that gives me an idea to start! I will probaly do 100-105 psi in the fork and about 205 psi in the shock. I already have a high pressure hand pump so all good :)

Yep! All numbers / recommendations seem pretty much in line with my experience. As long as you have a high pressure pump, you should be able to dial it in pretty good. I probably run to the lower sag / stiffer rebound side... 250psi rear... as everything else I have is hardtail, so not used to that back wheel squirming around out there. I also crank the rebound down tight for the street ride to the trails, then loosen it up a bit for the actual trails.Comment

Last night I just replaced the stock Rockshox Monarch rear with a 2021 Fox Float Factory DPX2 7.875x2.25 (200x57), gave it a basic tune and put 20 miles on trails and fast rutted rocky descents. Even with a basic tune, it's pretty nice... The bike definitely grips better and feels more planted when things get sketchy. Only issue is the mounting hardware I pulled off the original shock doesn't entirely fit on the FOX. The DPX2 has two tan nylon(?) bushings that have a lip that makes the original black spacers too wide to fit with the big silver bushings like the original configuration. I had to leave the thin black ones off.

FYI : Fox Float Factory DPX2 7.875x2.25 (200x57), I just took the shock off and measured the mounting hardware. It looks like it’s m8x21.84mm front and back. Also checked what volume spacer comes installed, and it’s the light purple 0.2 insert which is the smallest one. On this shock size, the largest insert that can be used it the light blue 0.6, any larger and it can possibly over pressure the tube and blow it up... I ordered a set of volume reducers and a ShockWiz, will post results for both the DPX2 and the stock front shock once I get them dialed in to perfection. Interestingly enough when I brought the DPX2 back up to pressure today, using the preferred technique of cycling the suspension several times every 50psi to equalize pressure, it looks like 250lbs is in the neighborhood of how much pressure I need.Comment

what do you think about coil shock on the back and double crown fork on the front ?
can this luna x1 handle that much stress ?

Sure a coilover and double crown may fit, but IMO, the geometry isn’t right for a downhill rig. There is a guy that got a slacker headset here: https://youtu.be/iwNVofQxV9c

I have the Ohlins coil over and love it!! Night and day difference. I can get you the specs if you want them. I ordered it through worldwide Cyclery. They were awesome to deal with and made sure everything went smooth. Shock came dialed in for me to my riding specs from the factory. Took about 3 weeks to get it. It was about the same price as the Fox coil over. I have ran Ohlins in the past on dirt bikes and think they are amazing.Comment

I am thinking of upgrading the rear Rockshox as well, so you didn't use the fox bushings and used the rochsox bushings instead?? I think if you upgraded to Fox , you should be using the Fox bushings that came with it.Originally posted by Rabix View PostComment

Also what PSI are you running? I am 210 lbs loaded. My shock pressure is 330 psi. I have the largest spacer allowed 0.6in Light Blue in the DPX2.
