Can you upgrade the controller on the Luna eclipse folding bike?

Just wondering if the eclipses controller can be upgraded?

I modded mine. I’m sure it voids the warranty but yes this one was a bit tricky for a number of reasons. I figured it out tho! You basically have to cut the controller open. Then VERY carefully remove the clay like stuff inside of it. Then find the little chip that says something like R002 I believe it was, then shunt it. Mines holding up fine but the motor wasn’t meant to put down 1650 watts. I’ve ordered a new set of nylon hub gears incase these fail. I believe the limiting factor for power is now the battery BMS because I have a battery I built without a BMS and it must be pulling at least 40A and feels like to much power for that motor so I just stick to the stock battery. I believe it’s pulling 33-34A as is. I’ve got 350 miles on mine and it’s holding up but I don’t dog it super hard. I believe I could cook the stock modded speed controller if I really tried. So just be careful and prepare to fix thing should something go aria.

Hi Chainb123. How's this mod going? Any issues? Would you recommend?

Hey Dave, yes I would recommend it with well over 1200 miles now I have not had a single problem and I put an amp meter on it and it’s pulling 53A on 14s LOL haven’t even needed to replace the nylon gears yet! It’s still smooth and reliable so far. Just remember that mods like these definitely put a lot of stress on things and anything can happen. My experience has been good tho.

Sounds very interesting! buncha questions for you, if you don't mind me askin.
What kind of improvement do you see from the increased current? Do you think there's more torque?
Is it a quicker in acceleration? Do, or can you do full throttle, try to float the front, starts?
Or do you see a better top speed than the 24 mph or so mine seems to get on a full charge?
Are you making the motor hot to the touch?
I've done a lot to make my Eclipse a better ride, but no "power" related mods. I could go for a little more GO
