WELL... you can call me MR. throttle! Loves my twist grip go switch.
turns out I'm just an old motorcycle rider and I use the twister full time. after 300 mi I find I don't even play with the pas, just pedal whenever I feel like it and match it with power. I tend to pedal about 1/3 of the time. the rest just blast around- grinnin like a 12 yr old. far as this old boy's concerned, ya can't beat the boost assist on mount up, almost makes me look graceful!

Use one of these and you can use any throttle you want. ATV's have thumb throttles.

Sorry, Not sure what I'm talking about. I get it about muscle memory. I've only owned motorcycles-last one a honda xr 650 - and always my right hand was go and major stop. Left hand was clutch and the feet selected the gear's and rear brake- which did change which foot did what on the different bikes= bsa, norton and honda's, and I remember gettin it wrong a couple times with each new ownership. The Norton even had an opposite shift pattern than everything else-first is up, then slam down for the rest of em.
I have never even seen a thumb throttle, and might not like it at all, and I don't know how they work.
I wouldn't even want to try one if the wrist throttle still twisted while using your thumb to press down.
The Eclipse I'm getting has no shifting gears, and I never thought about that, OR that elect bikes have a motor kill signal on the brakes
Now when I think of it, for other bikes I've seen pics of, trying to hold throttle and shift at same time with 1 thumb would be impossible. AHha- just realized why anyone would have a go control on the left!
Anyway, I wouldn't try out a thumb throttle if I couldn't have a non twisting grip, and the whole experiment would stop there if a "dummy" left grip isn't available.
Also, I apologize, I'm getting ahead of things. Me 1 week into a 2 week wait for Luna to get the bike to me

You can and I've tried a couple, although wiring and connectors vary.
I tried them all because of experience with other motorsports throttles. Ex jet ski snow machine.
Are you versed in the electrical components of an eBike? If you are uncomfortable with the hot twist grip you can unplug connectors for a while.
Your brake cut off signal will kill unintended accel quickly.
On my eBikes the thumb 'throttles' confuse my muscle memory with the bike shifting controls.
The snowmobile style rhs under bar (?) sticks out and catches things too easily. Oh oh
The push down(?) version unresponsive or 'jerky'Last edited by Mike_V; 07-17-2022, 07:56 AM.

right hand thumb throttle instead of twist grip?
Can I get a non twist throttle grip for the eclipse. I'm thinking i want to try a thumb throttle . Do you just replace it with a left hand grip, and are they available from Luna, or somewhere in china, or would I need a new pair of grips?Tags: None
