Eclipse kickstand no more good

Happened this morning, but a thread I had read previously about the kickstand being weak kept me from freaking too much. Found out where they break, and how easy to do so.

I will signal to Mission Control in El Segundo about replacement. I'm early in my orbit and as soon as I clear moon shadow blackout I will be in contact. Failure of critical system will prevent my spacecraft from completing any unplanned emergency re-entry.

All spacecraft of Eclipse series 001 will require modifications to prevent burnup in atmosphere - pilots be forewarned of imminent failure

Update: contact with wallyMart - dispatch similar unit-$9.99 here in 2 orbits. expect similar failure rate.

Scheduled arrival of upgraded unit - Soma Fabrications Chainstay Kickstand 4502 silver $39.99 - in 5 orbits. Possibly available in black for similar equipped craft. will post pics if utilized

This Soma kickstand looks and work great. It was too long and I had to cut off about an inch including the rubber foot. It looks more streamlined without the foot but won't work as well on soft ground. I also put a slight bend in the shaft- was just too close to the rotor to suit me and the way I use my foot to lower kickstand. wmart site shows a pic in black as well.

The Eclipse chainstay is large enough so that the clamping action works perfectly and the thin rubber is correct for no marks and no slippage. I had to mount it several times for trial fit cutting, and it fits great and locks on solid.

I think the bad reviewers were trying to install this on bikes with a small round chainstay that didn't provide the 2 contact areas for the rear part of the clamp to secure to. if that was the case no amount of extra foam padding would do the job.

Another thing I like about this kickstand is the sound of it. solid and confident upon deployment. A flick of your foot and it snaps open or closed, and you don't need to look cause you can hear it's locked in place up or down. Almost as nice as the clickity click of a Colt revolver being cycled!

I previously designed our luna peg leg stand which looks quite similar with nice straight aluminum tubing and even the same foot. Always liked that product, but the machinist decided to retire so been looking for something similarly rugged

Man those soma stands are nice, I installed it on the bike I use for singletrack and really been liking how it stays put. Half the ones I tried before felt like it could cause an issue when doing jumps but the soma is solid
