ETA on restock of BBSHD replacement controller version B? I saw it in stock yesterday but wanted to remove my controller first to verify the version. Now I only see version A in stock. I waited too long.

Also please notify me when stock is available again (dj-schultz@hotmail.con), Since the BBSHD controller version A is in stock there is no option on your product page to sign up for notifications for version B. Maybe just discontinue version A? or make a separate product page for it? I think we all want version B these days

We normally run out of most of many items in the Spring/Summer since it is the Hot time of year. With the Corona Virus many of our supply chains are disrupted so it will be even more difficult to keep things in stock. We are still shipping as usual, it is the suppliers around us who have slowed down and in some cases shutdown.
As always, we recommend that you put your name on the "notify me when its in stock tab" that should appear on any out of stock product. From time to time we add small amounts of stock to item. Also when the product does come in stock you will be the first to be notified.
We recommend when we do have stock of an item that you take advantage and buy it while you can.
If you have questions about something not on the list please post a comment here.

I became aware of the the folding bike a few years ago and it is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m planning on making it my first e-bike and am bummed that I didn’t pull the trigger before.
Do you think it will ever be available again, or are the other offerings in too high of a demand to make this bike a priority?

Hi Eric,
Thanks for all those videos that you have done about Luna Cycle bikes! I'm excited by the Apollo and hope to get one when you get them in stock. Love how that Battery packs connects with those awesome High Amperage connectors ...with even a swivel on the frame set! That's aces! I've been exchanging E-Mails with Tony asking about a putting down a deposit but he says that's not required or even possible at the moment.
Please let me know when you anticipate more Apollo frame sets to arrive as I am looking for a Medium.
Regards,
Larry
PS My Dad use to build custom hot rods when he was alive and he had the same passion as you do... to give Customers what they want and yet provide the best that can be had at the moment.Last edited by LarryMagoo; 09-27-2021, 04:36 PM.

Morning Pax,
Thanks for the reply.!!! Can I get some idea? Next month? November? A ballpark estimate would be nice.!

Larry

Hard to say for sure, but as an educated guess I would say a few months at the earliest. We definitely need to make more batteries first and I think we need to build more frames as well. On the bright side production capacity is ten times what it was when this was introduced couple years ago so when it is available a lot more people have a shot at snapping one up compared to years past.
Likely the next Luna bike to go on preorder will be X1 if you are looking to avoid that long of a wait.

Morning Paxtana,
Few Months? How do you guys stay in business with that long between frame sets? So I guess you are saying way next year then. Waiting for a container of Frame sets then I guess. Well no other bike looks to be the bike that the Apollo seems to be. Looking forward to when you get them in stock.
Cheers!

Apex and Apollo are basically a labor of love, we don't make those particular bikes for the sake of profit but for the sake of making something truly excellent. Those bikes are built in the USA with mostly USA built components which is a challenge to say the least, but we do it because we want to make our flagship bikes truly quality and to support the country we live in.
Last I checked we are the only decent sized electric bike company in America that builds any of their models in the USA. From a business perspective it may not make a lot of sense, but it's not always about the money with us. We keep the lights on by selling other stuff, the majority of which is built in China, just like every other ebike company these days. And like I said we have dramatically ramped up production since this bike was first introduced; it may never be as fast as using some Chinese sweatshop that could turn them out by the hundreds every week, but that's okay.

Morning Pax (is that what they call you or the full Paxtana?)
You have no idea what it means to me for you to send me what you did! After watching eccentric Eric on a few video's and seeing his passion for design and execution, it makes me feel like I have chosen the best guys out there to get my first ebike from! It took you a while to write what you did and I very much appreciate it! I don't want a chinese anything! I know the BaFang motor is chinese but just have to live with that! That country is despicable in how they treat their own citizens......sending TRAIN LOADS of their own people to Organ Farms where they Farm Organs from these folks to help the other rich people in china...they burn what;'s left!
Enough of that negative crap! Thanks again Paxtana for such a heart felt reply and great description of Luna Cycle!
This a shot of me back when I use to race from the late 80's to the early 90's. I know my stuff and it's great to be hooking up with a company of people who think like I do!
Thanks again Paxtana....looking forward to getting my Apollo (blue Medium) when it happens!

Morning Pax,
I see that you guys must have a relationship with WTB as I see their grips and seat on the Apollo. That bike in the picture is a Wilderness Trail Bike totally rigid as in shake the fillings outta your teeth!
BTW, what chemistry is in the batteries? I have flown RC planes for quite a while and battery tech has changed quite a bit over the years with electric airplanes. I would guess that the chemistry is Ni Cad or maybe Nickel Metal Hydride? Must be too expensive to get the way-lighter Lithium cells into a custom shape. Does the Luna Batt charger balance all the cells in the pack?
Thanks,
Larry

Thanks for the reply Pax. That's cool that the battery management system does the balancing....What I like about the RC way is they are balanced before they are used...not while they are being used....to me that is too late to balance them. Or maybe the management system does balance them when the charging occurs? Thats how garage fires started way back before they knew enough to balance the separate cells in the battery packs. I had a garage fire (thankfully the interior sprinklers put the fire out) and my brother almost did...the fire started in a chair that the plane was resting on during the charge as we just got home from having breakfast out....another 5 minutes later and his garage would have gone up in flames!).
Thanks for letting me know about the battery chemistry! It sounds like they are trying to take advantage of the lithium to reduce weight!

RC's put the pinnacle premium on weight with size a close second, everything else including safety take a way back seat. That's part of why they don't have integrated BMS's (more "unnecessary" weight and volume) and they typically use LiPo's which are one of the least safe Li-ion chemistry and construction - they are more easily damaged and more likely to experience thermal runaway with catastrophic failures that lead to uncontrollable energy release and combustion.
The Li-ion chemistries and construction we'll see in nearly all EV's including bikes are middling to better on safety than other Li-ion and the metal cylinders less likely to get damages like a LiPo. They are not thermally stable and have flammable electrolytes unlike LiFePO4 but have much better energy mass and volume densities. LiPo wins in the densities compared to pretty much anything else short of liquid fuels or perhaps a Mr. Fusion ;-}
NiCd and NiMh have much less energy mass and volume densities but they are pretty safe although since the costs of Li-ion have come down you just don't see these much anymore. Both mass and volume densities are generally important in EV's (including bikes). We want the most energy storage in not only the lightest practical method but also the smallest. We still want reasonable safety so battery management is integrates and since the batteries tend to be orders of magnitude larger and heavier than those in RC's the extra size and weight of the battery management doesn't really matter.

AZguy,
Thanks for the details...much appreciated! Yea now that LiPo's are all balanced (or should be) explosions are less common...until they go into the ground...it can still flame up on occasion..
After that list that Pax posted, I have never seen so many batteries.....it's amazing there are that many different types. Luna must have figured it out building their own packs.....it's interesting to see how many different combos they have turned up.
Cheers!
