Hello,
Hoping to purchase a LUNA BABE--any restocks estimations?
Also, is there a way to order it with slimmer tires, like 2.4, for example?
Thanks,
David

When we are taking preorders that is generally when we have a solid timeline established. Still some variation but typically it would vary by weeks rather than months. If we do not know, then we do not take the preorders yet, and any estimate I provide is more like an educated guess, as I have said. As far as where a particular bike is during a particular day in a particular preorder, I have no way of answering that with any sort of certainty. What I can tell you is that for any given production run we have to start arranging it 6 months in advance.

Then Luna needs to fix the notification messaging...haven't experienced any issues, then again I stay on top of what I need/want.
Suggest you go and order a KTM dirtbike at $11k (from Austria)...then you can wait approx 6 months after putting in a down payment.
Unfortunately, the state of the world is in a bit of "tough sh*t at the moment"...ya get what ya get because everything's been turned upside down everywhere for a fair while. Process? Good guess is that China sends to Luna Motor/Frame/Battery only...the remaining parts are sourced by Luna, so who knows how many of those other suppliers involved are F'd up with their supply chain.
Personally dealt with Dengfu (X1 / M09 Frame manufacturer) because of researching a bike setup (Frame/Motor/Battery) for a friend in Mexico (response was expect a 2 to 5 week wait)...good luck getting a spare battery in 3 to 6 months.Last edited by KTMracer63; 04-30-2021, 05:56 PM.

Ok - So lets's better understand the process --- for a bike like the X1 -- during a preorder for that bike I was told approx. "1 1/2 months expected ship date" -- When I placed the order, are the bikes already in California at Luna waiting to be tuned and shipped, are they still in China waiting for enough orders before they are built and shipped, or are the bikes already on their way from China to Luna?
Also - JTMracer63 - I highly disagree about the notification process for the products. I've tried with a gmail address, my work address, and my personal email address, as well as my SMS text-to-email address from AT&T and I've never once received any notifications starting from July 2020 right up to Feb 2021 when I finally was able to order...Last edited by joegold100; 04-30-2021, 10:51 AM.

That's why there's a product notification feature for each item at the Luna website...
It does work, btw.
Don't think consumers truly understand that Luna is really at the mercy of China's mfg production....it's called Mfg101 (welcome to global outsourcing)
Luna can be only as good as the Chinese tell them...the big dog wags the tail, not the other way around.Last edited by KTMracer63; 04-30-2021, 06:20 AM.

The problem with more specific answers is it sets expectations for that to be the timeframe, when in actuality these are more like educated guesses. There are indeed many reasons for that as you touched on in a separate comment, such as production in china, ocean freight, drayage at the backed up port of la and so on. It could easily be over a month before we have more. Saying 'last week of april' or something similar tends to be fairly upsetting for folks if those estimates are not met.

What is a definition of a few weeks? Is that 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks? Every time I've asked and i've seen others ask when the next preorder period is, it's always "A few weeks"... A better response would be - "We expect the next pre-order period to open up the last week of April or the first week of May..."

I feel the same way on this. I just got my X1 about a month ago. Before I was able to preorder I had been waited nearly 8 months before i was able to finally order. I was on the mailing list several times during that 8 months with multiple email addresses and never once did I get an email letting me know the bike was open for preorder again. Thus, I missed 2 or more pre-order periods. I had to resort to checking the site every day, multiple times per day, until finally I saw it was open in Feb. I think the last pre-order period opened up on a Friday or Saturday and by Monday all of the large frames sizes were already sold out. Luckily I was able to get my order in since I was checkin every day. Right now I'm looking to order a second X1 for my wife. I was told a month ago it would be a few weeks. I see the same response posted in the forums when someone asked about the X1 2 weeks ago. Right now I'm checking the site, again, 3 or more times a day. In addition, in the forums your Restock post still has title of Restock for spring 2020. There needs to a better information flow and an updated restock announcement post. If Luna kept this updated for all product availability they would not have to answer these individual questions all month long. I know that parts and shipping from China is a huge issue still. However Luna, we don't know what you know. It's very frustrating to have to keep checking and contacting you to find out what will be available when. Please just keep the restock post updated on a weekly or at least monthly basis.
Thank you.
