Hailong vs Reention

I am looking for a Reention style battery that fits on a base that can accommodate a controller.
I was told by a well know e-bike tech company they’re dropping support for hailong and going with Reention batteries because Reention batteries are very common.
All I can find is empty Reention cases, few of which can accommodate a controller. That tech company does sell what should be a 400 dollar battery for 1000 dollars.

what am I missing? I have spent many hours searching and I feel stupid.

There are some reention cases that have a spot for a controller. Go here: http://www.reention.com/en/ and go to the downtube battery cases. The tigershark, polly and atlas cases have spots for controllers but not sure how the case is laid
out. This retailer : https://www.fthpower.com/collections/reention-batteries sells reention type batteries and the shape of the cases are representative of what reention shows. The retailer may be able to provide more details as to the layout for controller storage.

Hailong has opened an Ebay store to sell their batteries direct from a US warehouse. So vendors may be dropping them due to that. I see some there with a place for a controller (I wish mine didn't have that). FWIW 21700 battery vendors tend to spec the brand of cells used. Pnasonic or Samsung. Maybe the copycats aren't on board with that size yet. But tend to be vague on their 18650 batteries. I wouldn't go with the word of one "well known" Ebike company. I know some of them that make decisions about what they offer more on what's good for them than what's best for the customer. My older Reention battery didn't have that feature, my Hailong Mega shark 24Ah does. When I was looking to replace my Reention I couldn't find another one. So I went with 21700 hailong.
I have no preference one way or the other.
My Hailomng has a deadbolt type lock that needs to be latched with the key. The Reention lock latched when the battery was inserted. Different habits for each brand.

I guess it might be possible to open the Reention lock with a shim and steal the battery. But it's a very old battery so they might not be like that any more?

This is the Ebay guy. For 21700 they specify cells, for 18650 a little more vague.

I had not heard of the reention brand until this post. It's a gamble whenever you buy most ebike batteries. One can try to buy a battery claimed to use name brand components but unless the case is opened up you never know for sure. Lots of shady vendors out there.

Reention, and Hailong make battery cases that include the mounting bracket. They both supply OEMs that use water bottle boss mounted batteries.
Just by chance I happen to own both, and really couldn't tell you that there is any meaningful difference between them. What battery cells are placed inside is up to the battery builder. I recommend US suppliers because the power needs here are higher, and you might have more recourse if there is a fraud, warranty, or safety issue. They may still be made overseas, but a large vendor has more leverage to get things done correctly.
