That says a lot about what a battery pack should cost. Luna sells the GA cells for $6, and that's close to the top of the list of premium cells. And that's a retail price, so I assume less if you buy 10,000. The cases aren't that much, and the BMS is not that much. What is left is the cost of the labor. It just doesn't look like someone who was practiced in making a pack would need that much time. I'm thrilled to give someone a decent profit for a pack I can move around and use for a couple of years. Great stuff.
I guess the process is a little more involved with the more densely packed Luna shark packs as they can't use the plastic templates so have to use forms and glue guns to put the cells together? My envolt pack is probably the same - how else can you manage to put 14s4p in a shark case....
Always wondered a little about heat build up/dissipation though.
If you are buying a large pack (20-Ah?) You really don't need expensive cells to get 40A of current without the pack getting warm (PF?) However, if you need a small pack to fit your frame, you really need top of the line cells like the GA in order to get decent range and enough currently without it getting warm.
