    Battery idea? Possible?

Hi everyone, I am very new to the E-bike world. I am looking at building a 24v mid drive ebike. What I’d like to know is has anyone tried using individual cells from a Toyota Prius to make the battery portion of the bike work? I am considering using 4 individual cells mounted into saddle bags on a rear rack. Ideas or reasons why this wouldn’t work would be appreciated. Thanks

Dont' see why it would not work. If you got 24v going to a 24v motor, should be no problem.

Prius NiMh modules are 7.4V nominal and 8.4V max from what I see: http://www.hybrids.co.nz/battery-specs/

      So that's max of 33.6V.

So a bit high for a 24V system, but as long as you can set the voltage limits on the kit to work out, the motor should be OK and I think it's doable, sure.
Fabrication is fun! Build something today. Show someone. Let them help. Inspire and share. Spread the desire.
