Been running a 14S LiPo pack on my BBSHD and it’s producing 1800w+ peaks with 1700 watt sustained power. The voltage drop across the discharge is much flatter than the 18650 pack it’s replacing. Although I can’t really compare this straight across because the 18650s are only 13S 48V compared to 14S. The pack is holding 54V+ even at full load 33.25A through 3/4 of the discharge, which is where I cut it off. Seat of the pants power is impressive compared to 48V.

RC Lipo will have much lower IR than most 18650 packs. I did a quick calculation using your rough numbers about 4V drop @ 33A and came up about 8mOhm/cell group of your 14S RC Lipo pack.
I also wish to remind you that BBSHD is a 1000W "continuous" rated motor. You can get away with 1500-1800W peak bursts but if you crank-out that much power for too long, the unit will eventually suffer an early demise.

I have 3000kms on my bbshd running it at 2500 watts. The controller is what will fry. Ditch the stock controller and use a big gear and you will be fine.

I'm still running the 48V 13.5AH pack. Got nearly 2K miles on now without a hiccup. And I need to keep it tamed a little because I'm running a Nuvinci 380. It's got over 1K miles now and going strong as ever. They say 750W is all you can hope to put through one , but I beg to differ. It handles twice that and is really cool once you get used to using it.

Just had to try them out. I'm fine with 48 volts. And actually 12S LiPos perform as well or better than the 13S 48V 18650s. They're about the same at the beginning of a cycle but soon thereafter the LiPos hold higher voltage. I'll measure the IR when I put them back on the charger but 8mohms sounds about right. They're some Graphene hybrids and the IR is particularly low.Last edited by QueeQueg; 10-23-2017, 05:45 PM.

That's what I used some Graphene 45C packs. The low 15C packs for Quads weigh and cost less and 30A continuous won't even warm them up. They're more stable than the high discharge stuff and will last longer. I've got some 3 year old packs with close to 500 cycles on them and they still work well. They've show the longevity of the 18650s without the limitations of low discharge and slow recharge.
