    Sun bike

Solar bike 40 plus miles sun only daily.
stable even in sidewinds. With windscreen all weather.
Been hacking this out for three years. Keeping it light dependable and capable. The only things original are the rans frame amd the bbs02b (luna)

I feared putting panel overhead for assumed stability, handling issues. BUT those were not warranted fears. Gave up on trailer for now. Trailers have the control, handling issues.

With how hot its been recently especially in the sun a side benefit to covering the bike with solar panels is you are also shielding yourself from the sun.

Should be good when rains come too. Way too dry here.

I would imagine since its usually cloudy when it rains that your solar capacity is greatly reduced when it rains. You will have to come up with some sort of water wheel to extract energy from the rain.

Do the panels charge the batteries or feed the motor through an inverter?

The charge controller boosts the solar voltage to 58.4 volts. The electricity from there flows to the battery and motor controller where it is processed to run the motor.
Any electricity not used by the motor goes to storage.
