    Help programming BBS02

    Hello everyone,
    New here!

First of sry for the bad english its not my first language. I've been reading a lot on the BBS programming topic. I'm currently modding two bikes with a BBS02 and a Sturmey Archer 3 speed Hub. Lots of long big hill in my area so i'm going for efficiency and range before speed. I'm planning to limit speed at around 30km/h (19mile/h)

i'm going into all of Luna's app setting before actually plugging in the motor and making some change and i have a couple of question about some setting.
My goal is to have a simple to operate bike (some possibly 1 or max 3 PAS lvl) and the Sturmey archer will be the deciding factor for speed and hill climbing. I'm looking to have a consistent power usage so i know always how much range i have (or close to)

Battery is to be determine (52 volt vs 48)

Here are the settings i don't understand :

Designated Assist Level : ? Does it restrict PAS to only one lvl the one i chose ?
Start Current in relation to Slow-Start ? Seems from the PDF instruction that Slow Start can't be low if Currents is low and in a low gear? Not sure i am reading it right.

I would love to have the motor use less power when on flat vs hill or decent(usually not pedalling on decent) so is the setting :
Keep Current ?? Should i set this to like 20% ? My understanding is that the current will go down to 20% if no more is needed to keep the current speed?

Thanks all for your input !!!
    Cheers

Using less power on flats and downhill is one of the things the Bafang BBs are good at. You can read a post I did awhile back at how I program for that.

Have you read this guide? It will answer most of your questions.

      Hi thanks for the response,
I've looked at your file, but I'm still not sure what does parameters do : (see picture)

Slow start is it 1 the slowest start ? or 8
+ can i have a slow start with a low initial current ? is it safe ?

      Thanks

Slow Start at 1 is the slowest ramping up of power. You may feel the PAS is laggy at that setting. There should be no issues with low current along with a slow start although the article I linked above has some warnings. Tweak the numbers and see what works for you. I have saved 3-4 copies of my file as I tweaked different settings during the time I was experimenting with different things. Allowed to go back to where I was if I didn't like some changes I had made.

Ok so a 5% initial power with a slow-start of like 3 with my gearing, 44T to 22T with a Sturmey archer (so first gear is 75% ratio) should be safe on my big hills?
          Should i go down to a Mythi-mini 30 Tooth Chain ring ?
          Thanks

I can't answer that one. The 48T that came on the BBHSD wasn't enough so I am running a 52T Lekkie ring up front and would probably have a 60T if I could find one that fit correctly. Couldn't even imagine a 30T but I'm a long distance country cruiser.
