On the "Throttle Handle" tab, there is a drop-down box "Mode" with the options of "Speed" and "Current"

The "Luna" throttle is set to "current" mode (my preferred) with a start current of 10% (higher than I prefer) and Designated assist level at 9, highest (my preferred)... this give a bit of a umph when you crack the throttle and very smooth delivery after that.. the downside to this is that if you are in a very low gear and just grab full throttle it will dump you off the back... so don't grab a bunch of throttle in low gears and it's a good setup

The "ali" has the throttle set to "speed" mode also with a start current of 10% and designated assist level to "By Display's Command" (all yuck in my book)... this will vary the throttle response at different PAS levels, will come on rather slowly but still have a bit of an abrupt cracking the throttle... folks set it up like this typically when they are not adept at not grabbing a bunch of throttle in a low gear (see above) since you can't really dump yourself off the back lie this...

Personally I set mine to "current" mode, 1% start current, and designated assist level to the highest (9) - similar to the "luna", just lower start current... this gives a luscious predictable throttle response but won't save you from hurting yourself if you grab full throttle in lowest gears...

Neither has assist levels set very well in my book but that's another story...

  • Programming BBSHD throttle control, help please.

Hey guys, Edit: Both of these bikes are for purely offroad use... I do not take these on the street. The 29er is for more hard packed single track, the fat bike is for sand and snow.

So I have two BBSHDs... one 68mm BB with the old standard display bought from Lunacycle in offroad mode. This is on a 29er front suspension mountain bike. Has a 40 tooth sprocket on it.

The second BBSHD is a 120mm BB on a Salsa Mukluk fat bike. Unfortunately I have to use a much larger 46 tooth sprocket because I need significant sprocket inset to have the chain line reasonably straight mid-cassette. This BBSHD came from an Aliexpress seller. 500c display on this one.

Both run off the same Luna Wolf 52v battery.

The first bike, the 29er, has a very 'punchy' throttle response. When going up a steep hill and hit the throttle, I get a pretty good push. Enough of a push that it easily spins the tire on loose surfaces and easily lifts the front tire on more firm surfaces.

The fat bike, however, is not so punchy. The motor has the power, it is usable in pedal assist mode, and it has the push to get me up to 50km/h, but when I punch the throttle on this one I can feel it, but not much. It certainly doesn't lift the front tire or spin the rear tire (of course I have a lot more traction with a 10psi fat tire than a skinny 29" aired up).

So finally my question... ignoring the gearing issues which I am trying to find better solution for sprockets etc, what setting do I need to change in the programming that would give me more 'punch' in the throttle?

I'll attach my two .el files so you can see the difference. I would just overwrite the new controller with the old controller file, but I like how it responds for everything else (pedal assist, etc), so am leaning towards just changing the throttle portion.

Both of these files are as received from the seller, I did not change anything:
