Yeah, I'm following the thread too, wondering when the *&^^ I'll finally get my bike, lol. On a more serious note, I knew I went with the right person (Jim) to take on this build. He clearly know how to do the work, and the science behind the how and why. The bike is more than I expected, and it's not even finished; I couldn't be any happier with the results. I am however antsy to to put it to use. The wait is killing me, so to speak. But I know that Jim is going through it in detail, to be sure to eliminate and minimize every possibly failure he can. So in short, the wait is well worth it.

I'm not going to have to tell you about the good fast cheap pyramid again, am I?

I am still following and equally impressed as well. Makes me want to get out my hacksaw and go cut up somebody elses bike. :-) Seriously though. I used to work as an aircraft mechanic and did mostly airframe (aluminum) fab and repair. Now that our "kids" are grown and out of the house, I have more time for hobbies. Built my own e-bike with an HD motor and love it. Your article inspires me to go out and buy a TIG welder and get a bit more crazy...... Keep up the great work ! So...is it going to be British racing green?

I'm still reading with great interest. I'm also surprised this thread hasn't taken off like crazy. The content is certainly worth getting excited about! But I guess maybe the user base here isn't as into fabrication as you and I. Suspect the ES thread might generate a lot more discussion.

This build seems worthy of a feature on the front page of Electrcbikes.com, my personal opinion. I don't recall if Eric has posted in this thread, so maybe didn't see it yet. Maybe drop a link in his email, if he hasn't. Perhaps he'd be interested in featuring it there, once it's done.

We have lift off... Re wired the controller last night and installed it. Everything works as planned. Bike is really stable and ridiculously fast. I found I was riding it more like a motorcycle then a bike. I'll take a camera and GPS on it later. Right now Gary is playing around with it.

My first test ride for the electric bike shot at maybe 4:00am. The power is not hooked up because I wanted to test the ride it before wiring it up. The battery and motor are there, no front derailleur, but the rear derailleur is installed and working normal, and the brakes are set up and adjusted as well. I first tried it with only the motor and it feels like a decent well balanced mountain bike. I could ride it like that all day and never think twice about it being anything but a normal bike. The battery does increase the weight, and alters the center of gravity forward but the bike still rides decent as you can see in the vid, it just feels heavier. Straight up no bullshit assessment. Bike rides a lot better then I thought it would. It should just be insane when the power is hooked up.
