    2018 Motobecane Boris the Brut

    Foreword
I am disabled from a work accident I had in 2007. I have spent almost a decade because of that injury confined to my home. I have trouble walking for any distance. For instance I can walk around a walmart and do my grocery shopping, however, by the time I'm done I literally cant move for the next 2 to 3 days. I discovered in 2017 I don't suffer the same effects using a bicycle but I am limited by my ability. Since my injury I've had significant muscle degeneration and my endurance has gone to hell. I'm working hard to increase my mobility, challenge myself and to build my endurance. I currently do not have the endurance to pedal a bicycle on even a slight grade for more than a a couple 100 yards. Flats I have no problem with. I'm 6'1" and when I started my project in the Fall of 2017 I weighed 450+ lbs. In December 2018 I started doing strict keto. Lets say I have been enlightened to the benefits of Keto and have been reaping the rewards ever since. At my January Doctors appointment I was 408 lbs. I've lost 10 inches off my waist since then but I don't know my current weight. I made an agreement with my doctor not to weigh myself until my next appointment in April. I'm doing well at the weight reduction and as a guesstimate I'd say currently I'm on the upper side of 350 lbs right now.

I chose a Fat Bike for my build because I am a large guy. I tried a normal bike it would not handle my weight without having mechanical failures on every ride. These rides were less than 2 miles. The Fat Bike has not had any issues on any of my rides. I find the Fat Bike to be more stable and capable of supporting my weight. Hell, it just makes me smile every time I ride it and makes me giddy as a giggling school girl every time.

I plan to use my bike as my main transportation to travel to the towns near me for grocery shopping and getting the heck out of the house on day trips to the local parks, fishing and swimming holes, and just to go visit. I will travel with my 7lb Yorkshire Terrier who loves to ride in my front basket, she goes with me everywhere. Possibly at times I will tow an Aosom II Cargo Trailer for larger shopping trips and camping out, we'll have to see how handy it is. Currently the furthest distances I need to travel are about 15 miles one way so 30 miles round trip is what I need to be capable of for range. The terrain where I travel is not flat. It's not all up hill but it's a good mix. In the future I plan to travel and would like to use the ebike to venture from my campground to the local town for groceries and exploration. Eventually I even want to set up a way to use solar panels to charge my batteries when I start traveling.

Update: 4/11/2019 recent trip to the Doctors I weigh in right now at 385 lbs. Headed in the right direction at least.

      Personalizing the Brut
These are modifications I made to the Brut before it became an e-bike. I'm putting these before power modifications because...Well that's the order I did them in. I built and modified my bike as I went and frankly the motor install and making it an actual ebike is close to the last thing in way of modifications. Don't get me wrong, right from the day I purchased it building the Brut into an ebike was the plan. I just kind of did everything else to the bike first. So here we go.

This was the first bike I've ever purchased that didn't come with some sort of pedals. So, buying new pedals was a necessity if I wanted to ride it. I figured may as well go big or go home I had Vault pedals at the top of my wish list for a while. Finding them at a bargain cinched the deal. If you're looking to get DMR Vaults you need to look up Merlin Cycles in the UK. Almost half the price I could find them for anywhere else with free shipping, at least it was when i bought mine. Only catch is you may have to wait a little bit to get them as they don't send the plane until they have a full load and it can sometimes take a couple weeks. It's a very acceptable compromise to me. This picture shows how my Vaults look now.

My Vaults, at the time, were only in stock with blue pins. So I bought Silver Flip Pins just so they would match my bike. I will say its not fun swapping them all out.

Can you tell I'm a MTB Fan? These grips are totally Awesome by the way and feel great in the hand. They are nice firm grips with just a little give. they have a sight hand swell toward the outer edge of the bar, a nice texture to give you good purchase and the molded lines make it easy to get your hands in your favorite riding position even if your eyes were closed. They come with built in bar ends.

The WTB grips the Brut came with were a freaking bear to get off when you road or even handled the bike the WTB grips made your hands smell funny.

This is a very comfortable saddle and well constructed.

I previously had a Schwinn Cruiser saddle what a piece of garbage.

The Brut came with a WTB Saddle. I wouldn't say its a bad saddle but it is very small and was very close to feeling like the bike was trying to peg ya.

My shins look like a dot to dot! I've found the Pins in the Pedals to be a bit to aggressive. I have removed the the longer pns and moved the shorter pins to the front and rear of the pedal and completely removed pins from the center of the pedal. This has left me with sufficient grip for commuting and my shins are much happier for it.

The Selle Royal Saddle is comfortable. However, I've found it to only be comfortable for rides of an hour or under. For me that is one battery or about 15 miles. I recently did a 2 hour ride and the wider saddle really killed my hips and my parengials were sore for weeks. I swapped back to the original saddle that came with my bike a WTB Speed saddle. It is significantly harder, no cushy gel for your bum on this one. We will see how it works out.

Ended up swapping back to the Selle Royal. I will just have to space out my ride time. Wider cushy saddles are definitely better especially if your a heavy guy.

The Blackburn Barrier Mud Guard XL came with a roll of hook and loop to fasten it to the front fork as seen in the stock photo. This would allow for it to be easily removed. I went for a more secure/permanent install and used 4 Hyper Tough 18 inch 180 lbs test Cable Ties instead.

These are extremely light weight, durable, functional and inexpensive. These mudguards all share a similar topographic map pattern design and look well paired together. Easily removed for maintenance and cleaning and repositioned when necessary.

I previously struggled trying to make a set of heavy PVC Rad Rover Fenders work. The Rad Rover Fenders are actually made for a much smaller wheel. Making them work was a giant headache to say the least. I would think they were set just right and then while riding they would start to rub. Repositioning one was not an easy task. The Rad Rover Fenders are way overpriced in my opinion. Maybe they work better on the Radrover.

I've stopped using the Front Mudshovel. Not because it doesn't work it works quite well. But so does the Blackburn Barrier and it just seems like over kill as I'm a fair weather rider.

I really like this basket. It's made to lift off and be used for shopping and then just lock right back in place and go. The mesh bottom lets you carrier smaller items with out fear of losing them and makes a more friendlier surface for little paws. I did have to modify the mounting bracket slightly. After very little use it rubbed a line through the paint on my head set. I found by bending the lower bracket so that it rested on the top of my fork this was no longer an issue.

I sewed a basket liner and a small pillow to fit in a black and red color coordinating fabrics to match with the Brut. The basket liner & pillow combo offers some comfort and wind reduction for my riding companion. Also I keep a fleece baby blanket in here just in case she gets cold. I added 2 short 1/2" straps with small swivel snaps on them to the basket. This allows me to clip in my dog's harness and keep her safe from accidentally jumping out. Side Note if you ride with a dog you should always clip them in ALWAYS! I have dabbled in sewing before but this was by far my most complicated project I have attempted to date. I learned what I needed to do by watching a youtube video on making basket liners. I chose to make a pattern out of card board and really took my time with it. I had to make a inner and outer liner for what I wanted. Then sew them together inside out and turn it all through a small hole left in the stitching. I made the liner so it would fold down on the outside of the basket about 2" all around and had to add cut outs for where the liner slipped over the basket handles and added shock cord around the very edge to keep it secure. I have Black on the outside and Red on the inside but the way the basket liner is made it's reversible. I purchased 1.5 yards of Red and 1.5 yards of Black for this project and had a bit leftover of each.

Here's a Youtube tutorial in case you're interested in how to make a basic basket liner https://youtu.be/K3d3UyoYmNk

This is a 3 piece rack made to adjust to any size fat bike. Although it's 3 pieces when assembled and mounted it is extremely stable and very well constructed.

Here is a Youtube video that really helped me explore my options and ultimately decide which rack I wanted to use https://youtu.be/3uNYEDHw0cE

I have this secured to my rear rack with zip ties. It is very secure I can lift the entire bike by it and it doesn't move at all. I was originally going to top my rear rack with a double milk crate but the sides of it were to high and it made it difficult for me to mount and unmount the bike.

I use the Hyper Tough Zip Ties for almost everything. I purchased mine at Walmart. They are a great value for the money and hold up really well.

Recently Project Farm did a shoot out on Zip Ties, I was already using these as my go to. Hyper Tough did quite well in the tests. You may want to check that out and see which ones to steer clear of and save yourself some money. Here's the link https://youtu.be/SY2Ee-1yuuQ

The absolute best way to clip the tag end off a zip tie leaving nothing sharp to snag, jab, poke, scratch or leave you leaking.

I have one of these mounted on each side of my fork. I ran them for a while on my handle bars at 1800 Lumens each the LED Lights are way to bright to run that high up as they blind oncoming traffic. Mounting them lower down on the front fork bosses alleviates that issue while better illuminating the details of the road surface and really cleaning up the cockpit. These lights have a button on the back of the housing that glows green when there is power to them whether they are turned on or not. A press of the button lets you cycle threw 3 modes High, Low, and Strobe. I plan to wire an Alomejer 2-in-1 Bike Switch in line that will act as a cut off for the power to these lights. I use an Anker PowerCore 20100 power pack as my 12V power source. I like the idea of keeping accessory power separated from the ebike's. When I purchased these lights they were 1/3 of the price they sell for now. Even at the higher price point they are still a bargain. The shortcoming of these lights are that the mount on them sucks. They simply will not stay in position while riding. This problem is easily solved and I'm sure I went overkill on it. The base is attached by just one screw. Upon removing the base I found a oversized hole for the power cord. I filled the cavity with hot glue, not sure how good of a solution that is but it works. I purchased a pair of LAMPHUS Off-Road LED Light Bar Mounts. I rummaged threw my parts drawer and found a pair of large washers and longer bolts with matching threads. The lights attached to the LAMPHUS Mounts without issue. To mount the whole set up on my fork bosses I used Origin8 Eyelet Stubs. I have 3 bosses on each side of my fork and I chose to use the one positioned in the middle. I feel the higher boss would locate the light right in the path of any road spray coming off the tire. The middle position keeps the light high enough to function well yet just below the wheel rim so hopefully out of the line of fire from the majority of the road spray. Time will tell and if need be I can always move the Eyelet Stubs to the lower position closer to the center of the wheel.

I scoured the web for a very long time to find this switch. It's one of the only ones I found that doesn't look like a toy like many of the ebike accessories. Yet the switch isn't bulky like many of the motorcycle switches available. This switch just looks like it belongs. They do offer one with directional controls but I think this is the cleaner looking option.

I have 2 of these I keep on hand. I live rurally and the power goes out multiple times through out the year. I've used one of these to power my Samsung Galaxy S5 Smart Phone for 3 days and it did not even drain it half way. I've pressed one into service on my bike as a power supply for the SecurityIng Lights and it has worked very well. I havent had to use it on any rides for more than 10 to 15 mins. However, the battery doesnt show any depletion on it's indicator lights after that use. Longer upcoming travels this summer will surely allow for a better review. As I mentioned I do have 2 of these though and I do carry them on the bike. So as the saying goes 1 in none 2 is one. I can always run just one light off each battery to have the backup battery or just run one light at a time if I find they are using more power than expected. Added bonus I can charge my cellphone completely and power/charge anything else with a USB plug.

Admittedly these are a bit overkill. As they are meant for mounting Off-Road Lights on Motorized Off-Road Vehicles. But hey they work and they work well. They come with multiple mounting options that make for a clean looking install. If you find yourself in between sizes a quick wrap of Scotch 3M 2228 Mastic tape can give you just the right fit.

There's no doubt in my mind that these are a rip off of the Paul Designs Gino Mount. However they are less than half the price of a Gino Mount, come with a cap, and are much lighter. Yet, they are plenty sturdy and durable. These can be mounted anywhere on your bike you have a Braze On or a 5M bolt hole. They attach perfectly in the Bosses on my fork. I'm using mine as more of a permanent base for my light mount. But, you could easily and quickly mount a removable bike light on them. You can use them with or without the cap. Personally I think the cap offers you a place to perhaps store a slip of paper with your owner information in case of theft or perhaps stowing away some emergency cash. But once you put the cap on they are not easily removed, so take that into consideration.

I wired this all up and while I like the lights and l like the switch. I don't care for the additional wires needed. I'm going to use this for now but I believe I will eventually upgrade to 2 Nightrider 1100 or 1200 lights

After researching Nite Rider lights I'm going to go with 2 Nite Rider Lumina Micro 850s. They seem to offer better illumination and run time in the regular use settings than any of the Boost options.

I have this light mounted just under the handle on my Coca-Cola Crate. This came with the seat mount pictured but also came with a flush mount. I drilled 2 coordinating holes and it bolted right on. This light gives me an automatic brake light, hazards, rear turn signals, lane markers and tail light. When you stop moving the brake light comes on. So when you first power up the light it's super bright because the brake light is on whenever the remote isn't moving. It has several modes allowing you to turn functions on and off. The Light unit has a USB internal rechargeable battery and the remote uses common coin cell batteries.

      Planet Bike Grateful Red

One of my favorite lights. As shown it uses 2 AAA batteries so a battery that is commonly available. I carry 2 Storacells which hold 6 AAA rechargeable batteries each. The rechargeable don't have near the run time of Alkalines. I have 2 of the Grateful Red Lights mounted on my Coca-Cola Crate using the included flush mount pictured. I also have 2 mounted on my Aosom II Cargo Trailer using the post mount.

I have a whole stash of these they make keeping your batteries organized really simple. I use the Moonshine versions they glow in the dark after just a few seconds of exposure to a light source. Makes finding them really easy just shine your flash light over everything and then turn it off the glow gives away there hiding place.

I've stopped using everything in this post. The Cmeilan X5 worked well as a Brake light but the controller is just to hard to use. It's easy to click on something but it's really not clear if the function you clicked is on and you never know what mode its in after you activate it. I liked having the brake light function but it's really not necessary.

The Planet Bike Grateful Red I love. I loved it so much I bought an upgrade to it and now use the USB version of this same light. The bonus of this is I no longer need to carry the AAA batteries for the light. I can simply recharge from my Anker Powercore. The USB version of the Grateful Red light is also 10 grams lighter.

Planet Bike Blinky Safety Bike Light Set

I have 2 sets of these. I use the clear lights on the left and right sides of my Front Basket they mount using the clip on the back of the light there. These are not a to see light but a to be seen light when biking and they do that well. They have 2 modes on and strobe. If need be you could use one for a reading light. I use the 2 red lights as side marker lights on my Aosom II Cargo Trailer. I have them mounted in line with the center of the tires on the wheel guard tubing using the included mounts. They include multiple options for mounting the lights and with the clip on the back of them could easily be attached to clothing if need be.

This is something I haven't installed yet but an option I am considering. The wheel lights would allow me to change the color as i desired for safe travel, festivities, and night ride events. But I don't like adding the weight to my wheel. Perhaps something I will just try out and make up my mind then. I've seen more elaborate and expensive wheel lights that I would try but the reviews do not appear to fare them well so I'm going to avoid them.

I stopped using the Red Blinky lights. Mainly because I lost one. I really smacked the side of the trailer on something and busted the mount. Not damaging the trailer but I never found the light. So I removed the side markers. I do run Grateful Red USB lights on the rear of the trailer so it is still lit up quite well.

I ended up adding the Bright Spoke Lights to my Bike Wheels. My Father and I participated in the first parade our town has ever had. I like them and left them in place. The battery for the light is easily removed for charging. I do plan to buy another pair to add to my trailer wheels as well.

Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	74.2 KB ID:	84492
I live on the NY and Vermont Border so need to comply with laws of both states. In NY you are required by law to have an audible signaling device on your bicycle. I went with the Spurcycle Bell. I did have my hesitations about dropping half a C-note on a bike bell. I looked at many alternatives and tried a few. While I love the classic ching ching sound bike bell I just couldn't find one that didn't look like it wasn't going to fall apart. The Spurcycle Bell has a higher but louder tone that carries and grabs your attention when you hear it. I went with the black option so that my pricey piece of bike jewelry wouldn't be so obvious and might blend in with my handlebars.

Sometimes you just need a horn. My journeys will put me right in with car traffic at times having to take the lane at some of the local intersections. I know there will be times when a bike bell just is not going to cut it. No matter how loud that bell is it's not going to grab a drivers attention like a horn. The Loud Mini by Loud Bicycle is a compromise for me. I really wanted to mount a big rig air horn under the back rack. The Loud Mini seems to be a whole lot more practical to install.

      Specs per Loud Bicycle
      • Loudness: 125 dB.
      • Water resistant, all-weather construction.
      • Weight: 0.9 lb (410 grams).
      • Battery life: 4 months.
      • Charging port: Mini USB.
      • Easy release mount with anti-theft bolt option.
      • Mounting is compatible with GoPro®.

These are two of the options I'm considering for Mounting the Loud Mini I may have to use other adapters to get it positioned correctly. I will update this post with the final mounting solution.

So I ended up not using either of the GoPro mounts pictured. I used the included mounts with the Loud Mini and a 90 degree GoPro Adapter which allowed me to make a clean install that satisfied my OCD. Ended up mounting to the Stem Spacers.

      Cargo Carrier - Trailer
      Aosom II Cargo Trailer

Aosom Elite II Folding Bike Cargo and Luggage Trailer with Removable Cover and Quick Release Wheels. You never know when you need to carry more. This cargo trailer boasts a carrying capacity of 180 lbs. While I never plan to actually haul that much it's nice to know I have options. This trailer was also fairly inexpensive as far as trailers go. One review the person said to have used it with out performing any maintenance for 3 years before rust over took it. I hope to see how well it will perform if it's well taken care of and the axles and bearings are routinely greased. The trailer mount that comes with the trailer is not exactly compatible with the thru axles of the Brut. So, I swapped out the rear axle with a Trailer Axle from The Robert Axle Project.

12mm Thru Axle for Kid Trailer
Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	12.9 KB ID:	84605
Robert Axles for Kid Trailers are designed specifically to fit your 12mm thru-axle bike and allow attachment of any hitch-mounted trailer. These fit any trailer that has two wheels and a single point of attachment to the axle. This includes all the two-wheeled child, pet and cargo trailers. In addition the thru axle provides a bit of security as well it replaces the stock quick release thru axle and is installed with a 6mm hex wrench. the stud on the end allows easy attachment of the trailer tow hitch. The Robert Axle Project has many Thru Axle solutions for security and towing.

I chose the BBSHD because it offered me the most options. From reading other reviews the BBSHD was the best choice for the terrain in my area. I went with the Luna version because it offered more power. I'm not looking for power as in speed but more torque.

I went with the Mighty Mini 30 for increased hill climbing ability. I'm not looking to go fast and this seemed like the best fit for me and what I'm looking to get out of e-Boris in performance.

I read in a lot of places that the Bafang Cranks were soft and would often have issues. So rather to wait til I had an issue I decided to just go with the Shimano Cranks that were said to fix the problem. I also bought 8mm hex head bolts to do that upgrade, however, my BBSHD shipped with those from Luna Cycle. So, the bolts in the picture were not used.

I originally wanted to go with the Luna 750C Full Color Display. At the time of my purchase Luna was sold out with a unknown restock date. So after asking in forums about the DPC18 I went with that option. When I placed the order I thought I would just order the 750C later on. Now that I have it and it's mounted I'm really happy with the DPC18 it works for my setup. This display has a USB port but I'm not sure I will ever use it.

I did not care for the stock thumb throttle that comes with the BBSHD. I also do not care for twist throttles at all, Bad experience with a Dirt Bike. Went to pull myself up on the bike to adjust my position as I was sliding back. I ended up grabbing a handful of throttle and made my buddies proud for about 10 seconds riding a full wheely across the lawn before launching off a lip into the brambles. They said it looked awesome, it didn't feel so great though and I walked kind of funny for a couple days. I am more accustomed to an ATV thumb style throttle like you find on a 4 wheeler. This will still take some getting used to being on the left. But I think I will like it the best.

I chose the Gear Sensor option upon the recommendation of forum members and thank them for their advice. I did have to pick up 2 Gear Cable Ferules from the LBS before I could install it. For such a trivial inexpensive necessary part and the price of one of these sensors I do think they should include the Gear Cable Ferules with it. The install was pretty straight forward. I roughed up the section of cable that would pass through the sensor upon Arizona Guys advice in a post. I also slid on a piece of shrink wrap over the sensor. However, I'm going to wait til after I have a few shake down rides on e-Boris before I seal it up.

I purchased both of the Bafang Stabilizer Brackets made by California Ebikes. I wasn't sure which one I would need or if I might even possibly use them both. In the end I went with the full suspension model which California Ebikes list as the Fat Bike Option. They do say you may have to bend the bracket some to get a perfect fit. Uhm that might be an understatement. After Bending the bracket I still had to beat on it some with a hammer to get it in the correct position. For my applicationn the bracket would have been perfect it came in about another inch. The bottom slot on the bracket lined up well with my top water bottle boss on the under side of my down tube. I would need to drill another hole further down and it would be way off center if I did. Instead I added a Stainless Steel Hose Clamp around the notched area of the bracket. I did put a piece of heat shrink tubing on the Hose Clamp so it would blend in with my bikes frame. It is suggested to use an M6 bolt or a hose clamp as the prefered method to install the Bafang Stabilizer Bracket. My water bottle boss was an M5 so to be safe I added the Hose Clamp.

Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	53.2 KB ID:	84742
2 10mm wide shaft spacers for the BBSHD. Haibike does make these as a retail item. However, the only place I could find them was on Aliexpress. I've never done any business on there and hesitant about using the site. Whether that's practical or not, I don't know. I do know that is the only place I saw them available after doing an expensive search. So I chose to have them made locally. I actually posted on facebook for suggestions of who might be able to make them for me. My neighbor ended up answering my post and told me he could make them for me. He happens to be a machinist. I'm very grateful for his help and was prepared to pay him what he wanted. I know these would of cost me a good chunk of change to have made at the local machine shops. When I went to talk to him I brought him a couple dozen eggs from my chickens. He asked me what I wanted for those eggs. I said I didn't and he said he didn't either. Great Deal and a Great Neighbor and Friend! He can have eggs whenever he'd like.

          Luna Wrench

Worked well! I will say if I had to use this tool on a regular basis I'd stretch a piece of bicycle inner tube over it so it would be a little friendlier on the hands. But, for only using it once in a while for install and maintenance that's just being knit picky.

I was actually pretty worried about the gear sensor working and had held sealing up the heat shrink over it in case I had to mess with it. After finishing everything up today and testing with the battery it performed flawlessly. So I will button that up. Too bad I can't say the same about the Bafang Hydraulic Brake Sensors.

Another choice made due to availability. My first choice was 52v 28ah Triangle Battery Pack. I was prepared to build a custom battery box which would of added a significant cost to my build. After having to reconsider that choice, I think the Wolf Pack will be a better option. I will be buying 2 to 3 of these depending on what kind of range I get out of them. I will be ordering the first one this week to complete my build. I'm so Excited!

I used this to increase the durability of the cables and give them some added protection. I purchased a number of sizes and found the 1/4" and 3/8" to fit the bill. Pretty easy to install just cut to length hit the cut ends with a lighter to seal them, just slightly. Push your wire through and seal the ends with a piece of Heat Shrink. I prefer the Marine Grade Stuff it shrinks 3 to 1 and has an adhesive. More on that below.

I bought an assortment of this which is more than adequate for this build. I mostly used the smaller sizes but did require a piece of the larger size for my Gear Sensor and Hose Clamp. Having the assortment to pick and choose from for a build is very nice.

Almost a necessity for installing the Gear Sensor. I thought to buy a nice pair as they will last me a lifetime. These make a nice clean cut in the cable housing. I figured my LBS would of charged me half the price of this tool to make the cuts I needed to install my Gear Sensor. Buying the tool and having it for the future seemed logical to me. I only have to use it one more time and it will have more than payed for itself.

Having a small set back. After ordering the Liquid Wolf Pack V2 with the 30q cells it became apparent the battery would not be available for some time. So I had to cancel my order so I could go with the Liquid Wolf Pack V2 with the LG cells. Upon doing that it's tied up my funds in processing limbo and immediately upon canceling my order Luna was sold out of any 52v chargers...I had a Advanced one in my cart. I'm sure it will all get straightened out some day but I don't see my project being completed in the next 30 days are usable. Do to processing limbo I'll probably have to settle for a different battery option if they are even available by the time my card is refunded and who knows on the charger. Sightly aggravating but it is what it is. It would really of been nice if Luna could of just given me a credit for my order instead of the processing limbo deal. But its the way things work and I know its not their fault, They've been great about helping me any way they could. Really hope I can get a pair of the liquid batteries for my build. With my luck they will probably have a 17ah battery available after I finally get what ever battery I end up getting.

Ended up with the Liquid Wolf Pack V2 with the 30q cells, lol. So far so good. It gets me to the nearest town and back about 14 miles round trip with a good mix of terrain but all paved. I have a little left in the battery after this trip but I don't want to push it. So I would say range with a Fat Bike 10 speed 11-36, Mighty mini 30 front cog, 385 lb rider, 7 lb dog, and pulling my trailer empty one way with 45lbs back the other way Id say the range is about 15 miles conservatively. Maybe more without the trailer. Going to town this weekend for an event so we will see.

I do recommend strapping down this battery with something. I went to make a U turn today screwed up and took a spill. All in slow motion and nothing hurt really but my pride. But when the bike hit the ground the battery did come loose and I had to reinstall it before I could be underway again.

4-Piston Brakes that are plug and play with the BBSHD from Biktrix in Canada. I'm planning to purchase these around June to upgrade my brakes. I currently have Tektro Dracos and do not have any cutoffs installed on them. Later depending on performance I may increase the 180mm rotors to 203mm rotors as well. Biktrix is the only place I have found these for sale. Tektro does not market these to consumers and they are only available through e-bike manufacturers. Down side is they are pretty expensive.

Due to the New Luna Mount for the Wolf V2 I did not need the rubber washers for install but did use some Vibrax on the mounting screws.

Still waiting on Biktrix for the E725s they are on back order currently. Might go with some MT5e do to availability. Time will Tell. I ordered a pair of sensors to use for the time being however they did not function at all so I immediately removed them. If they dont function with the magnets taped on the sensor then they arent gonna. I liked having the added safety factor of having a kill switch with the brake. But Ill make do til I can get the product I really want to use instead of messing with a temporary one.

I plan to purchase 2 of these, one for each wheel. I currently have a Kryptonite Kryptolok Series 2 with a 4' KryptoFlex Cable. While that was adequate for locking up my POS Schwinn Death Trap to keep passersby from taking their lives on it. It's grossly inadequate for locking up the Motobecane. The Series 2 Barely secures the back wheel to the chainstay forget an object to lock it to and to trust the bike to a cable, Uhm Ya I think NOT. The Longer Shackle on the New York Lock will allow me to properly lock up eBoris while increasing the security level of the lock itself. The downside is these locks are heavy but I think with the value of eBoris they are appropriate.

The 4' KryptoFlex Cable I have is too short to be of much use on eBoris. The extra length of the KryptoFlex 710 should allow me to secure front wheel to back and lock up my helmet and seat.

I'm going to try out 2 of these straps to just add a bit more security to my battery. Not security as in stopping someone from stealing it but as in making sure it's secure on the bike for travel. More piece of mind than need.

I will be testing one of these for securing my battery against quick grab and go theft. Possibly adding a 2nd later on.

UPDATE: I will not be using one of these locks. All one has to do is watch the Lockpicking Lawyer and Bosnia Bill's youtube videos on these locks. You would seriously be better off spending $25 dollars on a 100 pack of 250 lbs test heavy duty zip ties and cutting them off each time. It would provide more security than one of these locks. Not only can you cut them in 2 seconds with a pair of tin snips, that's if the lock functions to begin with. I think this company is selling an overpriced sense of security and nothing more. Glad I came across those videos before I dropped the coin on this.

The original seatpost clamp I stripped the threads out by over torquing the bolt and actually snapped the bolt in half inside the clamp. I replaced it with an inexpensive EVO Quick Release seatpost clamp I picked up from the local bikes shop. While I can't fault it as the EVO has performed flawlessly it doesn't do much to prevent theft or tampering of my saddle. The Wolf Tooth Seatpost clamp would definitely offer some security as you at least need a tool to remove it and I could super glue a BB in the bolt head for more security if need be. I also like the anchor stud design of the seatpost clamp a feature my original seatpost clamp was lacking.

The KryptoFlex 710 was to long for application. I ended using a KryptoFlex 410 which worked perfectly.

Update: I am actually carrying both KryptoFlex Cables now. I use the 710 to secure my trailer and the 410 to secure my front wheel to my U Lock.

I like the Wolf Tooth Seatpost Clamp but I'm currently using a EVO Quick Release Seat Post Clamp. I'm using a new saddle and am having to make fine adjustments on the fly and being able to do that tool less is quite convenient. When I get that dialed in again I will make my pencil mark on my seat post and switch back to the Wolf Tooth Seatpost Clamp.
