Anyone run low pressure in their tires and installed rim locks?

How far from the valve stem did you install the rim lock?

I put mine opposite the tube air hole, seems to balance better that way with the Talon rim lock.I originally had a rubber version that says 1.6/1.4 ,but that one was heavy and made the tire not seat evenly.

How much better is this tire over the stock tire?

Knobs are twice as tall so a little taller, work good in mud and are 4 ply tires versus the stocks two ply,so harder to pinch flat, the down side is there a little heavier.Stock tires work pretty good in dry conditions but don’t air down less than 20psi to avoid pinch flats.

The tire is pretty stiff at 12 psi. ?
Have you tried the maxis tire?

I have a Maxis to,it doesn’t shed mud very well is to wide to use on the front if you run Rst Killah Black forks.Has small knobs and was wearing faster then the Protrax.12psi mostly for mud but I also have to ride through rock gardens and haven’t dented my rim yet.The bike is so light that 12psi seems pretty good,I have gone down to 6psi in the back but didn’t really see more traction,so back up to 12.

I put the rim locks on and using the maxis tire. At 12 psi I notice the tube valve stem is tilting caused by the tire spinning on the rim. I checked the rim lock and its tight. I'm going to put the valve stem in the correct position and try 15psi.
