To replace the speedometer:
Open the battery compartment cover and turn the main power switch off and remove the battery cables. Remember cables have a tab you have to squeeze inward before you can release the connector with the exception of the main power cable.
You have to remove the battery compartment cover and the key lock to gain access to the wire plug to disconnect the speedometer cable. I placed a paper towel over the battery compartment so the screws, pins, or circlips don't fall down into the battery compartment. I won't go into removing those components since others have outline that process on the forum here:

When removing the speedometer there are two screws holding it in place, a skinny screwdriver is required to access the one in front. Make sure you LIFT UP on the speedometer once you remove the two screws, there is a small plastic tab that prevents it from just pulling away.
I also disconnected the two e-brake cables while I was in there but that's not necessary for the removal of the speedometer but I mention it as a reminder for anyone wanting to do this since everything is apart and accessible. I also taped over the e-brake connectors with electrical tape to keep moisture out.
