    Direct Mount Stem

anyone use a direct mount stem for the RST? if so, do you mind sharing your thoughts and photos?

I put a direct Mount stem on when I switched to a RockShox Fork. My friend is going to put the same direct Mount stem on his RST fork. I'll get back with you when I get his input.

Diety, with a half inch of Diety spacers.

Went with RSX direct mount and North Shore billet spacers on my new Sur Ron that I recently got. It came with the newer style RST coil fork. This fork is much better than the RST that came on my 2 year old bike.

I put a protaper handle bar and a renthal direct mount.
I would have preferred a real heavy duty dirt bike handle bar but I couldn't find a direct mount stem for a 1 inch handle bar.

If I use a50mm direct mount stem will I still need spacers as the stick Sur Ron stem and spacer is 50mm?

If I get a 50mm direct mount stem do I need spacers as the Sur Ron stock spacer and stem are 50mm?

You're going to need spacers for the steer tube since you are taking the existing stem out of the stack. Alternatively you can cut the steer tube down. Link to a cheap spacer set that I used is below.

You do not NEED spacers for the direct mount stem itself unless you want to increase the height. If you are using the stock bars you'll probably want some spacers. If you are swapping out to riser bars, maybe not.

                Steer tube spacers...

Direct Mount stem spacers...I'd buy from these guys as they are supporting the Sur Ron Community...

                Hope that helps.

Plastic printed spacers for your direct mount?
No way, none for me, sounds like weak sauce, definitely not the level of "support" that I require.
There is no way they can be as strong & durable as aluminum spacers that are available.

Plenty strong. They are in compression. Plastics are good in that situation. But to each his own...

It's a Diety. I have RSX direct mount on my new SurRon. I prefer the RSX because it puts the bar 1/2 inch forward and 1 inch higher than Diety. (It's a lot less expensive too)

Questions regarding DM stems. Are there different bolt patterns for different forks? Looking to use one on a DNM fork but when looking for spacers from North Shore they have this listed at bottom of page..

These spacers are designed to work with mountain bike DH forks such as the Boxxer and the Fox 40. These spacers will not work with forks such as the DNM Volcano USD-8C.

Went to contact them but my phone wont allow me to call Canada ad they dont have another contact option for questions.

Anyone know about these parts and fitment?
