Belt dressing

I ordered a new Gates belt and was wondering if I should apply belt dressing, some people use it on all belts.

Belt dressing will just make a sticky mess under there. And dressing is typical for v-groove belts that can slip. Your Sur-Ron belt is a Gilmore belt with drive cogs, there is no benefit to dressing. Although off-season maintenance a good tip is to lightly coat the belt with a silicon spray to keep it from drying out a cracking.
