I do not believe that is true, at least not in USA. However there are many mods being worked on to make it larger. Brackets to raise the seat, raised handlebars, differently angled stem and so on.
Many of these mods are listed in the modifications section of the knowledge base on this forum.
I haven't heard anything about a larger size either but you never know. I'm 5-11 and my buddies and I ride 90% of the time on tight single-track trails. One of them is six foot three. We all moved the handlebars up about 4 inches. For the type of riding we do this chassis is the perfect size. If I rode more open high-speed terrain, yes, I believe I would like a bigger chassis.
I moved the seat back 5.5”. I am 6’1” and it changes the riding position on this bike considerably for me. It was something I had to do and it only cost me ~$23 for the piece of metal and 2 hours of my time to fabricate it.
You sure can. It’s not that thick. My seating position is still centered on the back of the factory frame, so I’m not really sitting on the extension, it just supports the seat in a different location. I am 250lbs, so I am prob on the higher end of riders weight for these bikes.
Added, thanks. Between this mod and riser handlebars, differently angled stems and the soon to be released brackets for raising seat, nice to see there's a fair number of things to enlarge it these days.
