    Best 55mph+ set up

    I've been running my QS V3 205 50h 5T 9kV stock , right out of the box since Summer of 2015. My tire is 26" Hookworm.

            Nice!

            I had a guy in a pickup pull up to me at a red light yesterday, and tell me that he clocked me at 40 mph while going down a overpass. 35 mph speed limit and no bike space, so going faster was safer. More fun too.

            Absolutely, I always pedal, especially in town. I would never be seen going that fast without moving my legs around! Nothing more fun then going fast while slowly pedaling, like I have some kind of magic gearing, or super powerful legs, or both.

            Oddly enough, two days later, the manager of the grain mill I was doing some crane work at, turned out to be the guy in the pickup who commented on my speed! We (they, not my screwup) had a wrong part for the job, and in the resulting long delay he offered the use of his truck if I wanted get something to eat or drink. The crane was holding something up so I couldn't drive off in it. "No problem" I told him, "I got my own wheels." Then I opened the box on the crane that contains my 20" 350 watt 52 volt (I converted it up from the original 36 volts with a new Lynn controller) folding fatbike and THEN he said "I thought you looked familiar, you're the guy I saw on that bike going 40!" Small town......

              Can someone please tell me if a 60 volt 20 ah battery will be ok for my 1000 watt motor? The controller says 48 volts 25amps.thanks.

                Don't wanna be a wet towel here but also keep in mind that when drivers see a bicycle they expect it to be kinda slow like a bicycle "normally" is. They will tend to pull out in front of you more often than not because of this dynamic we've "changed" regarding how fast bicycles "normally" travel. Something to think about...

                  Multiple kilo-volts, quite a few horsepower... I mean, really, at that point it's an electric motorcycle. I'm one to vehemently defend the fact that e-bikes are still "bicycles".

                    Cars are constantly pulling out in front of me. I ride 25mph on average. It is fun to hit 55mph on a open road though. With a gaurantee that no one or thing will obstruct road

                      Try it and see if it works.
                      Worst case , you'll need a controller like KELLY KBS 72v 55a

                        This is what I fear the most. I don't have an ebike yet but when I drive in my care I'm always thinking, "what if I were on a motorcycle or a fast ebike" and I can spot all the dangerous scenarios. Cars turning in front of you is the most dangerous and most common accident on bikes and motorcycle. Even worse on bicycles because they never think you are approaching with any speed so they go ahead and make their semi illegal left hand turn in front of you.

                        I've even plotted only right hand turn routes or mostly right hand routes where the only lefts are at lights. One of the most dangerous left turns is entering my neighborhood-- Entry 1 has blind traffic coming over a slight hill and they can't see you taking your left turn. Entry 2 is further down but you can see traffic coming at you and they can see you, the problem on a bike and motorcycle is getting hit from behind on this left turn because it is around a bend and downhill so traffic approaching from behind do not see you until they have come around the bend. Even in my car I slow down around 100 yards when taking this 2nd entry to force everyone to slow down before I reach that turn. My safe route on two wheels is to just take the long way back where I only take right hand turns and turn right into my neighborhood without any fear of not being seen. Staying injury free is worth the extra miles!

                        I also fear getting hit from behind. I was just hit from behind a few weeks ago in my car while at a stop light and have been in physical therapy since! People do not pay attention.

                          I've said it before and will say it again - how do people ride in traffic without a mirror (or two)? Hurtling machinery approaching from behind is probably more important to me than what's fairly obvious ahead.

                        What brakes are you using and do they disconnect the power when applied?
