BBSHD Ludicrous ... how to tame the throttle

I have the Ludicrous version ... unclear if there is material differences in the controller settings or not. Using pedal assist, it's a blast and controllable. Using the throttle is also amazing, but it's just not linear enough to be controllable in the lower gears. I've unintentionally had the front end up and have even been tossed off the back. I have good handling skills, but there is just no catching it - it just happens too fast with a touch of the throttle in the lower 3 gears. FYI, I'm currently running a 42 up front and a 34 as my lowest cog in the rear with a 26" tire. I don't want to start off in a larger gear as I don't want to lug the engine.

I've read about the controller settings, and I've made changes, but nothing seems to help with the very jumpy throttle. I still want to be able to use the throttle to full power, I just need it to be more linear. I'll post my controller settings below. The setting that's the most baffling to me is the THROTTLE MODE on the Throttle Settings page. I've read to set the THROTTLE MODE to CURRENT for a more linear throttle - with the START CURRENT set relatively low. However, if I do this, the throttle seems to be literally an on/off switch, even with the START CURRENT set to '1'. That is why I have my THROTTLE MODE set to SPEED. It's unruly, but nothing like the on/off like switch when I have THROTTLE MODE set to CURRENT. Again, maybe the Ludicrous version is just different? BTW, I'm running the Bafang BBSxx Left Thumb Throttle. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'm considering just removing the throttle, but I really love the functionality and the ability to throttle away with traffic. Less people seem to want to run me over if I can just get out of their way fast enough!

It's my understanding these settings (torque) do nothing, but here is what I have ...

Hard to understand - I have my throttle mode set to current, using a 42t ring and have a 51t large cog and even in that gear it's buttery smooth... when I crack the throttle it doesn't even move if I'm holding it back but I can feel it pull... definitely don't want to smack it WOT in the 51t - that would readily toss you on your butt but it's not only manageable but very gentle....

Have you tried a different throttle? I'm using a bafang twist throttle (half wide)...

Maybe set the start voltage a bit higher...

Thanks AZguy. I have tried another (universal) throttle with no real change. I am using EggRider V2 to program. I do have a cable so may try to program with my PC just to see. I will update this thread when/if I find anything.

Sounds like Marcos would be the expert to talk to.

I know all about the Ludicrous V2 and luna owns the complete design so we have full control over it. However I know little about the V1

The ludicrous V2 has entirely different (custom) firmware - not even remotely close to the "stock" firmware in the BBS's and incompatible with them
