Just ordered bbshd : will it need software optimization?

so i just ordered a bbshd from pswpower and it says the 52v is 28a max.
does controller limited to 28a means i need to flash something?
im sure 28a would be enough for me, just trying to figure out if that is a confirmation that it has not the best software?
ive looked at how to flash the controller, while it seems easy i don't want to risk destroying my controller (not sure how high the risk is)

I agree, don't worry about reprogramming it right away. Get your bike built and ride it some. Get an idea what you want. I think a lot of us including me did a lot of research online and was sure I knew what I wanted but when I finally got riding totally changed my plan. No harm in buying the programming cable and collecting 'tunes' but I would not mess with it at first.

Im a new BBSHD convert. The HD stands for Heavy Duty. My philosophy on E motors is get the biggest motor even if you under power it. Weight is a minimal consideration for me. I researched alot of the flashing threads and tried several things. The SPEEED app works great and makes doing changes and experimenting very easy.

I think PSWPower's version of the BBSHD has a low-power 6-volt lighting circuit & wiring, hence the 28 AMP setting. This circuit could come in handy when matched with a quality European-regulations-approved headlight.

28 AMPs versus 30AMPs makes just a little difference, - if you get to hankering for more speed, the aftermarket hopped-up higher voltage & AMPs-doubling controllers are available.

thanks, ive looked abit into aftermarket controllers, they do seem interesting however they are quiet expensive. i mean i would be interested in a LUNA ludicrous v2 controller for bbshd but i live in the EU and also i dont think they sell the controller to anyone . next option seems to be bac 855 but that is also around 600$ and at that point i would want to go with 72v anyways so yeah more and more money.... i think i stick to my standard 1600w for now i think I'll be happy.

Yes, I'd also suspect you'll be happy with the "stock" power. After all, there's only so much steam our bike drivetrains can stand and still get us there and back reliably. More power and higher speed, with appreciable range also means a heavier, pricier battery.
