BBSHD 11000 Ks Just started having problems wish noisy bearings and the clutch shat itself after a good greasing of the axle bearings, so rebuild time, have a new primary gear, nylon gear, pinon gear, left side roller and both thrust bearings. The main problem is the red red dirt here which is very fine getting in the large primary bearing and the left roller bearing.

I popped the outer cover off and figured since everything looks good there's no reason to dig any further since those two gears see the greatest load, are both steel and spur cut... Figured I'd look again at around 10Kmi point too

Ya wow. And only grease the outer every 10k? I feel better about my BBSHD lasting 2k without more grease.

22,000 miles on my bbs02, I take of the outer cover and grease with the red mobile 1 every 10,000
miles. Probably nearing the end of its life, it’s on a Catrike Dumont…

I'm at 650 and I just started really using my bike since it came shipped with a defective free wheel. the minimum I will be putting on my bike a day is 10 miles and many days will get above 40, especially if I keep delivering on the side.

I calculate I will do anywhere from 10-15k a year at my current rate (I have a dual 15AH bike with BBS02).

Please wish my journey one free of motor replacement for yearS!

You charge your battery with the power on I hope so it can balance charge? You only charge to 100% right before a ride? Not letting it sit at 100% which degrades the battery? I open the secondary gear behind the chainring every 3-5k miles and mostly clean out the old grease and replace it with black moly lube. I wouldn't do anything more as it is a pain and is easy to damage the controller wires and gaskets. Why risk it to just add a little grease? I used to, I don't anymore. Open it up if/when it goes down. I have 12k miles on my current BBS02.

About to turn 8,000 miles on my BBS02, after 3 years and 2 months. Have never done any re-lubing or anything. Is that something I should consider?

Only problem I've ever had was the wiring in the bottle battery base degraded from the contacts arcing, which after 3 years of use caused the motor to cut on and off all the time during riding. I recently re-wired the battery directly to the frame harness, bypassing the contacts in the cradle base. The on/off switch on the battery still functions as it should, I just can't remove the battery to take it with me into a store anymore. But it's not big deal. Everything still runs great.

I can just barely do a 30-mile round trip commute on a 90% charge if I don't go above 3 out of 9 assist levels very much, except on big hills and the like.

1 year in.........only at 1800mi. Stupid people stopping me to "talk" about my bike prevents me from ENJOYING it as much as I would like. Maybe this year I just ignore them.....................

    BBS02.

Just broke 6000 miles over approximately 20 months of use.

After the first 4 months of use I did the recommended overhaul and regreasing throughout with Mobil 28, which I did again at the 4000 mile mark.

Other than that, the motor has been maintenance free other than periodic external cleaning as needed.
