    What is you Bafang configuration?

Karl at electricbike-blog.com compares five Bafang configurations including his. What is Luna's default configuration like? What do you prefer and why?

One way that the BBS02 middrive unit shines over other competition like the Bosch is the ability to program the controller yourself. Although the process of programming the controller will void any…

Black Over two years commuting on the same programming. Have all the cables and such, never needed to change anything.

My settings are similar to the Black em3ev settings. I prefer 4.2V for max throttle voltage, using the entire available range for smoother throttle response and finer control.

I slowed down the first several PAS speeds and bumped the current/speed ratio a little, too. That gives me slow, usable cadence to add human power in more of the programmed PAS levels.

I'm playing with work mode settings, now, to tune out surging.

Some, like Kepler, like to set all of their PAS speed limits to 100%. For them, PAS only limits power, not speed. But, I prefer the adjustable cruise control effect of having progressively higher speed settings for every PAS level. It's easier to settle in to a constant speed, constant cadence ride that way, without the pedal speed running away from you.

        A (perhaps dumb) question.

On my BBS02, I am running with Kepler's configuration and it seems to work well. However, I'm not sure I completely understand the settings on the PAS tab for:
Asst Limit Spd(%): Power cut based on motor RPM speed at power level x.

I have it set at 100% for all PAS levels. Can anyone explain exactly what that setting does? Does it have anything to do with throttle or strictly PAS?

        Thanks for any help.

It means the PAS will spin the pedals as fast as it can, based upon the power setting. It will not limit your cadence to a max RPM or MPH until the Speed Limit is reached. In lower gears with a PAS that uses 100% speed setting, your pedals sometimes spin so fast you can't keep up, right? With a PAS speed limit of less than 100%, you can prevent this.

I'm using Karl's config and throttle is set to speed. I find that I get more surging in PAS modes than the Luna config... I will reconfigure PAS back to luna's setting and maybe lower speed values like JPLabs said

Is the Luna config the same as the em3ev settings?

Hi, I'm new user. I have a BBS02B 500W motor branded Bafang. I don't know exactly which is the configuration it has. Do you have default .el file from Bafang?
                Thanks

Would it not be a good idea to have a Sticky with a link to all available .el files in here?? Be better than hunting around the Net.

The original post has links to all the different .el files. I use Karl's secret sauce with my 36v 500w BBS02 used on a full suss mountain bike. I don't use brake or gear sensors and do a variety of terrain. Karl's settings seem to work very well for my setup/riding. The article explains all the differences but Karl's work for me because it is very sensitive/responsive to my pedaling input without being too harsh and that is important when riding technical stuff off-road. It's a simply thing but the throttle changes mean that I have a "get out of jail" card when riding something that is too tough to pedal through/over/around.
