BBS02 Goes full speed for a few seconds then powers down HELP

I just put together a brand new BBS02 with a 52v - 13.5ah battery. Everything seems to work fine as far as display, lights, throttle. Once I get on and hit the throttle it goes full speed for about 3 seconds then it loses power, not all power but it goes down to about 10% throttle even though I'm physically pushing full throttle. Any suggestions?

By chance - what speed does it go when it peaks out (throttle only) - wondering if the top speed setting is holding it back.

Maybe it has internal thermal protectors that drop the voltage/current when the mosfets overheat. The same thing will happen to your stereo if you are driving the amp beyond thermal limits. Does it return to normal after the bike has hd time to cool?

Thanks everybody I fixed it using the programming cable. For some reason the controller shipped to me with a 14 mile an hour speed limit

BBS02 is 3lbs lighter and not as abusive on drivetrains as HD.

Does 3lbs really make that much of a difference on a 77lbs eBike?

The BBSHD doesn't have to be hard on drivetrains. User abuse. Early version BBS01 are getting near impossible to find parts for. I expect it will become the same for the A version of the BBS02. I have little confidence in a company that is so secretive. Yet, it's my only choice. Fingers crossed that my BBSHD remains viable for at least a decade.
