Questions about Cyclone PAS and others

Hi, i'm thinking of buying the cyclone 3000w for my next built and I have a couple questions.. I would like to know if someone is using the PAS with the stock cyclone controller. Karl from electricbike-blog said that It doesn't work well and I can't see how it works if you don't have something to adjust the cadence level... Also, how does the bike feel when you pedal with the cyclone? Do you make both chain spin (motor chain + bike chain) when you pedal? Finally whats the benefit of the ISIS bb vs the standard square one? Thank you

Yes, I am using the PAS on my 2nd Cyclone trike. The PAS is pretty decent, and the only way I've found to adjust it with the 3 speed switch. If you are in PAS mode you cannot use the throttle and the other way around. I've been pedaling my Cyclone ebikes and etrikes for nearly 5000 miles with only throttle and I haven't had much of a problem. When the motor spins the crank has a freewheel so you don't have to pedal, effectively it is a motorcycle at that point.

Hi gman thank you very much for your response! by the way I spent a lot of time reading your posts about the cyclone on ES. So is there a way to enter and exit the pas mode ? . I know the switch is something like 1. Pedal 2. Pedal 3. Full power . Does 1-2 is a different kind of cadence speed and 3 throttle only?

        Np,
So, there are two switches to get it to work. One to turn on-off, one to control the rotation speed of the motor.

To enable, in the controller there are two black small molex connectors with just one cable coming out of them, those two connectors need to be plugged together, when they do, you're in PAS mode. Then the speed is controlled by the 3-way speed switch. I think is a 80%-100%-120% motor speed with the 3 way switch. I can do a quick video of this thing later today to show how it works.

alright thx again gmal. I guest I could build a switch to active the short between the two wires. I dont see the speed switch in luna's store I guess something like this should do the trick. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/E-bike-Scoote...hU-7eM&vxp=mtr . I'll check the bike this week to make sure that the cyclone can fit (I think its an ISIS crank the bike is about 5 years old I dont know how hard it will be to remove it). If I can remove the crank i think ill order the cyclone!

Yes, any regular switch will work for that.

The three way selector is just a center-off three way switch, that's it.

Mode #1 is blue to center black, Mode #2 is default no wires hooked, and Mode #3 is pink.to center black.

To remove an old crank take it to the LBS (local bike shop).. that will save a lot of work and a lot of cursing too.. especially if you've never taken one apart.

Thx for the infos about the wires for the switch. Do you know if there's a thread on ES about the cyclone controller? I think I saw one with the description of the connectors but I can't remember where because I spent too much time reading topics on ES (especially the 50 pages thread about the 3000w kit) . Theres a local "collective bike repair shop" near my place where we can use the tools to repair our bikes. I'll try to remove the crank myself if I can't I'll give it to a local bike shop. When it will be done I'll order the cyclone. By the way, I saw your video with your new e-trike. Nice job! Gave me a motivation boost to finish preparing my part lists

Thanks. I don't think there is much to the Cyclone controller really, not sure if there is even a thread; the fact is that all the wires are labeled in plain English and the connectors are literally impossible to connect the wrong way or onto the wrong cable... so really, there isn't much to explain. If you mean about how the internals work there isn't much about that.
